Omg I didn't expect my comment about bullying to actually get discussed! Just wanted to clarify, I never thought Nigel was a truly bad person lol. I really approve of his philosophy towards comedy; I think learning to control offense is important for everybody, and that offensive comedy (as well as banter between mates etc) is a great training ground for that. But of course, that is not to say that words can't have negative effects. When the yellow fever thing etc started to become running jokes, it just reminded me of the people who try to assert dominance/combat their own insecurities by repeating something derogatory until it sticks. What made the optics slightly worse is that Matt is Nigel's employee, unlike Jamie Oliver for whom there isn't any intrinsic power dynamic. As I said, maybe it's just for the cameras, but not everybody will understand that and I was worried that it could set an example for those who don't know better. Anyway, thanks for addressing it! Looking forward to many more podcasts :)
My friend and I (both American) were driving to Vancouver for the day and they really gave us the 3rd degree, wanted to know exactly why we were going there. I was surprised because we're AMERICAN, it's not like we wanted to stay more than a few hours.
From a Vancouverite (Canadian ): Haha I remember long ago I went to seattle and the boarder guy was so relaxed and was super quick whereas when I was coming back Canadian boarder people were so stuck up and checking my luggage etc and I’m like wtf I’m Canadian lol . Though Ngl it was sorta funny watching them go through my luggage finding all my things in separate plastic bags and each time they discover one it’s like Ah-HaH! What’s this but it’s a super mundane everyday use item lol So don’t worry Canadian authorities are stuck up assholes to their own too 😅
Border crossings suck both ways tbh with you. I went to school in Chicago, and all my visa stuff and passport stuff was straightened out before we drove to the border crossing, they made me get out of the car, go into the office, and wait for over an hour because i had a funny last name. I was looking at dude like "your last name is Pecker" you being for real right now bro?
This has been my experience when I've traveled to Montréal and Toronto for work. They act as if it's some sort of inconvenience and seem to find it strange that a 30 year old American would be auditing a Canadian company.
@@ningyosama4782yeah I would say a lot of American border guys are pretty chill about Canadians coming in it’s just like crossing state lines to us. Not a big deal. I noticed though whenever we crossed to Canada we would have to wait for awhile while the American guards would go “oh yeah no firearms come on in”
"Sometimes the rainy day doesn't come, and then you're dead!" I am so using that on my husband next time he gets on my case for not saving money. That's gold right there!
Matt’s nice and always tries his best to (awkwardly) indulge Nigel opinions, but man do I miss the dynamics of the hosts from the Rice to meet you era. Evelyn wasn’t afraid to disagree - that pushed Nigel to articulate his points better and allowed more opportunities for both to be funniii. Congrats on getting your first sponsor on this pod, of course it has to be Manscape 😂 Glad you’re still using it.
Matt: I love 💕 how rejected you feel right now…..It’s coming out so aggressive! Hope your visa gets smoothened out! All the best on the rest of your tour Nigel!
I bought tickets for one of your New Zealand shows months ago, but waiting until June is such torture! Haiyaa! I hope you get to try some of Auckland's amazing Asian food while you're in New Zealand, including many fantastic Malaysian offerings! Among others, there's Mamak Malaysian with their incredible mee goreng and sambal chicken, Bunga Raya with their aunty-approved Hainanese chicken on rice and fried squid with XO sauce, and Uncle Man's with their beef rendang and smoky char kuey teow (their flakey curry puffs are also a treat!). Given its relative proximity to Asia and nature as a cultural melting pot, New Zealand boasts plenty of great restaurants representing pretty much every Asian country and even many specific regions within countries, so there's no shortage of fabulous Asian options if you're looking for authentic Asian flavour all packed within the same city! If you're looking for Chinese food, you _must_ try the wood-fired duck at Huami, which is infused with fruity flavours such as plum, apple, or feijoa. Another interesting Chinese restaurant is Biang Biang, which boasts a comprehensive menu of ancient and authentic Xi'an cuisine from the Shǎnxī province, including their famous biángbiáng miàn and its epic 58-stroke character (𰻞𰻞麵). And if you want to challenge Uncle Roger's sensibilities with a Kiwi spin on Asian fusion, you could check out White + Wong’s, which offers respectful classics like bang bang chicken, char sui pork, and Penang curry of tofu alongside interesting Kiwi takes such as teriyaki-glazed salmon, massaman curry of lamb shoulder, and an okonomiyaki-style whitebait fritter (and a mango pudding with pandan sorbet for dessert!). I really can't stress enough how much it'll be absolutely worth your time to try any of the wonderful restaurants that New Zealand and Auckland have to offer, be it Asian or otherwise, though I understand that it could be difficult to fit things into your schedule and the presumably limited time you'll be here. Just promise you won't condemn yourself to eating from room service. Room service tastes like sad! Actually, it's usually not that bad in my experience of New Zealand hotels, but there's so many amazing options around the city, and probably plenty within walking distance of your hotel, that I really do hope you get to try some of our world-class Auckland restaurants!
“Bushy ball area that viet cong can hide in there” 🤣🤣🤣 From a woman’s perspective, nicely trimmed down there is way better than a huge bush with viet congs hiding. So, Manscape is doing a service for women as well. A dash of ball cologne also goes a long way. (But not too much!) Nigel’s next merch can be a ball cologne which has a base note of shrimp paste and a top note of MSG. Thanks for even making the sponsor segment so entertaining!!!!
Producer Matt can work with Shane Gillis on a podcast about White men who have been CANCELLED by Asians. (Despite the fact they're still making weekly content, they're CANCELLED dammit) And I'm not racist because I spelled 'white' with a capital W.
As an old school O and A fan…for him to recognize the great Patrice O’Neal makes sense about how much of a student and great comic Uncle Roger is… such a good comedian
Hey Matt - at the end of the podcast I notice the end screen recommends episode #30 & #31 instead of #16 (the next episode). Man it would would be soooo nice if I could click there for the next episode. soooo nice...

Nigel Ng you are my favourite person I can see from the comfort of my sofa right now. I went crazy for Uncle Roger these last couple of weeks, tried to cook a thai green curry, fucked it up. Too much fish sauce. Plus maybe a little burned. But I'll try again. I love you.
I know how you feel about dating. I'm 44 and I constantly attract men in their 20s. I must put out some kind of cougar energy but omg I just want an age appropriate man. I tried to date a 25 year old and I caught a glimpse of our reflection in a window and I thought we looked ridiculous together. I looked like his nanny or something. Also, you're right about who you attract. I went to your show the other night and I swear I was the oldest woman there. Good luck to us both 🤣
