Yep, hybrid spin/bait reel and the thing is, it works. All natural materials right down to the glue holding the line guides in place. Ingenuity and determination are hallmarks of this channel, always something new and useful being made. Looked to me like the cast were decent enough, a stiffer pole will make a marked difference for sure. Nice catch and cook, looked tasty. Great video once again, well filmed. Thanks. Enjoy!

Good morning from Colorado. Fantastic video and scenery. Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me. Something I wanted to run by you. I live on a property that was first established as a cattle ranch in the late 1890's. My understanding is that I am only the fourth owner, and I moved here in 1988. Today, as I was going through a bunch of old junk in a long unused shed, at the bottom of a bunch of rubble, I found an axe. Rusted, but not pitted, the handle worn down, but not rotted. I guess it to be either Hickory or Oak. I enjoy restoring old hatchets and axes, so I was pretty excited. As I started removing the rust, I noticed a makers stamp, and ..."In Sweden" under the stamp. The word "made" isn't legible. The maker's stamp is a small circle, with HB, and an arrow pointing up between the H and B. On the opposite side, 1.5, and 3/12 is stamped. I'm assuming the weight in kg and pounds. I was hoping to email you pictures, but I see you don't make your email address available, no doubt for good reason. I thought you may know of the history, and I wonder if HB is still around. Also, I believe the axe head to be forged as a solid piece. Thanks for your time here. Stay safe. Roger
What you got there is an old Hults Bruk axe. Hard to find a better axe than that. HULTAFORS AB is running the factory today but they mass produce so not the same quality. Thanks for watching and your story, atb!

There's a shop here that I'll take the axe to have the edge redressed. Other than that, I'll do some file work, and try to find a handle befitting of the axe. Thanks again! Take it easy. R
Missed the release of this one, was out in the woods myself! This rod/reel setup is surely a step up from the last one you fashioned - smoother action and better weighted. And the resin on the roots was brilliant. Interesting curing method - in moss. Not an option everywhere, but this is Swedwoods, after all. ;-) P.S. I heartily recommend the Okanagan Wilderness in Washington State, USA. Much drier and more open woodland than Sweden, but stunningly beautiful and full of surprises, mostly pleasant. Keep sharing your passion, my friend!

Interesting observation. In an outdoor situation, where you're very active all day, your taste and texture response might skew towards "oil is good." I'm that way out in the woods. Greasy breakfast that I would rarely fix at home is a MUST in the woods.

The best rods are made of hazel, if you have the opportunity, I recommend trying this wood :) It is flexible and durable even after drying. Great fishing rod, beautiful perch, nice camping. Cool. Best regards.
