Thanks so much Ace! Yes, Black Sabbath was a huge motivation for me playing guitar and I couldn't even believe the story about Tony's fingers when I first heard it. I was shocked when a friend told me!
So glad to hear your finger's almost healed. Great stories about Django Reinhardt and Tony Iommi. Nice slide playing at the end !! Great video my friend, thumbs up and rock on :)
Welcome back man! Glad to see you're ready to rock. I dug the intro and outro jams...the end was some solid slide!!! Great stories as well, Django was a legend - and to think he played the way he did with such a deformed hand is mindblowing. Les Paul as well - he remained a beast of a player even though his right arm was frozen into an 'L' shape from a car accident he and Mary Ford were in. The Dr's were on the fence about possibly amputating it - then said he could keep it but it would be stuck in one position for the rest of his life. He told them to point his forearm toward his belly button so he could keep playing. I reached out to shake his hand, totally forgetting that - and only remembered when he got up from his seat and kind of thrust his hand forward to meet mine. Your video reminded me of that experience. Tony Iommi was another sheer inspiration as well....and to think an accident played such a big part in metal - but then it would take something like that. I better shut up and watch other stuff now lol. Keep on the mend bro!!
@@hearpalhere Oh yeah...he was the most humble guy, and a real blast to talk with. He was up there in the years when he passed, but I was still quite sad to hear the news.
@@guitarmeetsscience I feel the same. I saw him not too long before he passed away. A true gentleman and he still exuded the love for guitar right till the end.
@@hearpalhere That's awesome man!! So you know, very cool! He wanted to be known as a guitarist first....and his playing was definitely among the best in my opinion, along with that showmanship...not to mention the inventions.
@@guitarmeetsscience @Guitar Meets Science He was a monster in his prime! I'm thinking you must have seen this before but in case you haven't... enjoy! ruclips.net/video/ZJaNMZmBR6E/видео.html
That’s brilliant, so pleased for you. Didn’t know that about Jango Reinhardt, wow! So interesting how people get round disabilities. I’m completely deaf in one ear, I learned to sing again by cupping my hand round my good ear to get stereo and training my vocal chords that way. Have a brilliant rest of your week
Thank you for sharing that about yourself! It's wonderful that you were able to find a way around your limitation. Where there's a will, there's a way! I hope you had a great week too!
Adapt overcome! Django is a legend for sure, imagine if he had all his fingers. He adapted and maybe that accident made his playing more unique. Slide is sounding great! Good to hear you are healing up Pal
Thanks so much Andy! I completely agree man, who knows if he would have had the same impact if he hadn't suffered that tragedy? Glad you liked the slide, I'm having so much fun with it. I haven't forgotten your offer for a collab either - I should be good to go in another week or so. I'll be in touch!
Fantastic video & presentation buddy, punctuated by some awesome music! Super happy that your finger is healing up well - & cool pick making skills btw (I saw our fab friend Keros wielding one of yours wonderfully in one of his recent videos ✨🎶✨👍👍👍).
Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it and thank you for your kind words about the picks too! Yes, I was thrilled to see that Keros was making such awesome music with the pick :-) He's so incredible, I was really touched.
Thanks a lot Darren! When my friends and I formed our first band, we mostly worked on original songs but also did a few covers in our sets. About 90% of the covers were Sabbath! :-D They were one of the few bands that all of us absolutely loved and thought were awesome.
Thank you Trevor! Kind of amazing to think what would have been if Iommi wasn't inspired by the story of Reinhardt's injury. Would we even have heavy metal the way we know it today?
Thanks so much Fićo! Yeah, it was pretty nasty. The area is still tender but like I say, I'm just so happy that I have full mobility/feeling. I could have suffered a much worse injury.
Hey Pal..great life lesson! Of course Music lessons are not just for music..in extension for life too! That's what i tell my "students" each time!! Django & injuries's friends 😁😜 are thebest example of what we can do when life breaks us..LIKE15 mon ami!! In my case, it's been a long time that i've changed my way to play gtr 'cos of my physical mechanic problems..i had to or quit! ahaha...never!! I still change my playing 'cos age is not helping to recover mobililty🤣🤣Wish you a beautiful rest of week. Hey, your finger yark...i hate to watch things like that!! Happy for you mon ami...air hug. peace.😎🤙😘
Thank you so much Keros, I really appreciate your good wishes :-) I send you a big hug right back and hope you are having a great day! Sorry about showing the finger like that... my wife told me afterward I should have put up a warning on the screen beforehand. I didn't know you had issues with your playing too. I'm really glad you are able to keep doing it and make it work! We can never give up, we have to keep playing :-) Did you see Mike Stern after he broke both his hands? He's incredible and for a while he was having to play with a glove on his picking hand - and his pick was actually glued into the glove because he couldn't hold it properly without a bit of assistance.
