Mines was Death, after listening to testament & Kreator for a good bit I wanted to dabble into the death metal world. First Death song I truly heard was open casket & now they’re my favorite metal band overall. Chuck is the goat 🎸
Marilyn Manson. Really glad I gave his stuff another chance. I wanted to cover his comeback, so I knew I had to better familiarize myself with his material... this time I just did a complete 180 on his music.
I'm really surprised you initially didn't like Possessed or Deicide. But, I'm glad you like them now. I can see Gojira being an acquired taste. But, I'm glad you also like them now.
Great video Mark! Glad to hear you’ve come around on these bands, Gojira and High on Fire especially are two of my favourite bands. For me one band was Not a metal band but the Rolling Stones , liked a few singles but used to think they were overrated , then like 10 years ago dove deep into their catalog , and love them now 🤘🏻
Cannibal Corpse. First thing I heard was Tomb of the Mutilated when I was into hardcore, metalcore, and deathcore. Hated the vocals and thought it was a joke. I love them now, especially the Barnes stuff.
This is a problem I've had exclusively with bigger name metal bands. I remember not liking Vio-lence and Nevermore for years. You might be able to guess it was due to the vocals. Riffs we're good, but the vocal department detracted way too much. Eventually I grew to not only tolerate the vocals, but enjoy them.
This is an interesting topic. Sometimes bands or albums take more listens to find the depth and details. I can say I've experienced this several times. SepticFlesh is a band that took awhile for me to get into, but I think that was mostly because I didn't mind their early stuff. Once I found Communion and the albums after that I became a huge fan of theirs.

@@JoshCarlos1998 I can see that early death metal sound a lot of people not liking it. Death is the best. Cheers

@@blitzkrieghopAZ yes I can totally see that especially if you’re weren’t into death metal back then. Cheers
Great video man. I think we all have bands like this as our musical palette might change. I definitely have a few.
@@headbangerscloset8552 it happens. Sometimes a band clicks at a different time or album. Cheers Brett

@@Poser_Metal_Records I had the same issue with Vio-lence as well. Those vocals 😂

@@MetalNeverDieswithMarkA I definitely agree with that. The more you hear the more your tastes can evolve and expand.
