    I would have thought wo a doubt that pot was too small as a beginner bonsai hobbyist. So I’m glad I watched this video and embraced your expertise. Now I can repot a couple of my bonsai and save some money on smaller pots I thought wouldn’t work! Also the root exposure is quite terrifying as a novice but using this as a guideline gave me more confidence to try w one or two of my bonsai. Awesome vid and thank you for your lesson 😊

      @@grobonsai How long did you let the plant grow before transferring it? Do you use bonsai mix or the gritty mix by Bonsai Jack? The ventilated pot is also an awesome idea.

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  Год назад +1

      I think it was a couple years, but as long as it has sturdy roots and is healthy, it's ok. I'm not familiar with bonsai jack, but the mix looks ok. The particles are very large, I'd prefer something a bit smaller for small trees, but it will still work.

    Hello Darren, long time since last time. This plant will be a very nice bonsai in relatively short time. If you are concerned about root for, you can dip the whole root in pulverised charcoal, this disinfect the wound and has a good effect on the rootgrowth too. Hope to see you soon, greetings from Kenneth.

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  Год назад

      When the soil is completely dry, I water. If you're worried about over-watering, you can allow the leaves to become soft first.

  • @mickypful
    @mickypful Год назад

    Very good for me as a beginner , thankyou. Could you advise on watering ?

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  Год назад +1

      This species is a succulent so it’s prone to overwatering. So I water if the soil is dry and the foliage is not swollen and glossy. The leaves swell when watered and shrink as the water is used up

      @@grobonsai no trying to get information and no one is talking about it. In younger trees I could see how it could be huge. Maybe not for older ones but no one seems to talk about it in a mix. larger chunk size would probably matter as well and having it washed and activated. For cali and it's water issues. Things get dried out fast.

    What kind of fertilizer do you recommend for dwarf Jade bonsai

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  17 дней назад +1

      I like the controlled release fertilisers, it doesn’t matter which, they love it. Osmocote, miracle gro, anything you can find. I don’t use organic for ports because the soil is too dry for it to break down fast enough
