Thanks Darren. Nice to see you back.
I love the angle of the trunk complimented by those lovely roots. I have definitely learned the hard way and over watered following a repot/prune. Great video broski. Cheers
Hi Darren!
Nice to hear from you again!
Studying the video frame by frame as I plan to move soon one of these bad boys from garden soil to bonsai soil!
Have fun with yours!
I would have thought wo a doubt that pot was too small as a beginner bonsai hobbyist. So I’m glad I watched this video and embraced your expertise. Now I can repot a couple of my bonsai and save some money on smaller pots I thought wouldn’t work! Also the root exposure is quite terrifying as a novice but using this as a guideline gave me more confidence to try w one or two of my bonsai. Awesome vid and thank you for your lesson 😊
Nice roots! that's a great pot too. i really like the combo. thanks for sharing this repot and lesson with us.
Thanks for watching!
You’re so gentle with your ports roots! I go hard on mine 😂
Respect your roots 😂
I luv these Dwarf Jade you do. They all look so great
Thanks
Well done 👏🏼👏🏼
Nice little video. Great little pot with a great little tree!
Thanks Dave
Thank you , always educational and enjoyable, l appreciate the music and the calming voice.
Choosing music doesn’t come naturally to me, so thanks for the feedback
I’m so happy you made a video about this plant! I love succulents and have been interested in trying with this particular species.
By far the best succulent for use as bonsai!
@@grobonsai How long did you let the plant grow before transferring it? Do you use bonsai mix or the gritty mix by Bonsai Jack? The ventilated pot is also an awesome idea.
I think it was a couple years, but as long as it has sturdy roots and is healthy, it's ok. I'm not familiar with bonsai jack, but the mix looks ok. The particles are very large, I'd prefer something a bit smaller for small trees, but it will still work.
Nice little tree Darren. Great filming!
Thanks David
I’m always impressed with the amount of roots the PA’s put out! And it’s great that they take fine to a 90% root reduction for us 🤣 the glaze/oxide on that pot is perfection!!!
Thanks Candice, hope you are well
I'm just getting to know how good these are for bonsai - fast growing, easy to train, and every bit you cut off grows roots in no time!
Ang Ganda nmn ..
So beautiful 💙💙
Thank you! Cheers!
Great pairing of pot and tree. Also I like the Sedum as a moss alternative for succulent bonsai!
Thanks Dylan
I have no idea what’s going on but this is just a generally pleasant video so imma still watch it.
Hello Darren, long time since last time. This plant will be a very nice bonsai in relatively short time. If you are concerned about root for, you can dip the whole root in pulverised charcoal, this disinfect the wound and has a good effect on the rootgrowth too. Hope to see you soon, greetings from Kenneth.
Thanks for the tips! Never heard about charcoal for root rot before
O always wanted a bonsai like this one , I have my first one last month, but it’s pine
Enjoy your pine!
great video sir🤝 after a cooplebof week how often do you water that small pot? it needs more water as befor right? thanks
When the soil is completely dry, I water. If you're worried about over-watering, you can allow the leaves to become soft first.
Very good for me as a beginner , thankyou. Could you advise on watering ?
This species is a succulent so it’s prone to overwatering. So I water if the soil is dry and the foliage is not swollen and glossy. The leaves swell when watered and shrink as the water is used up
@@grobonsai many thanks.
Have you thought about using activated biochar in early bonsai mixes?
I’ve thought about it, but haven’t tried it. Have you?
@@grobonsai no trying to get information and no one is talking about it. In younger trees I could see how it could be huge. Maybe not for older ones but no one seems to talk about it in a mix. larger chunk size would probably matter as well and having it washed and activated. For cali and it's water issues. Things get dried out fast.
Hi! Great video :D I've noticed that you seem to have moved away from using molar clay in your recent videos. Do you still use molar clay or have you moved away from it? If so why?
My soil choices are in… turmoil. I do use it more for trees in training. It’s not as easy to source now. I dislike the cost of akadama!
What kind of fertilizer do you recommend for dwarf Jade bonsai
I like the controlled release fertilisers, it doesn’t matter which, they love it. Osmocote, miracle gro, anything you can find. I don’t use organic for ports because the soil is too dry for it to break down fast enough
@@grobonsai thank you
What makes a bonsai plant a bonsai plant?
Great job!
Where you get that pot? 🤩
Thanks, It's from erinbonsai.com
You cant be portulacarias, also that is great little pot! i like them together
