      Holding the ball "jams" the axle driving the head nodding. That allows power to raise and turn the lifter. Then it looks like an off center gear is used to engage a gear rotating the opposite direction which opens the grip, keeps the head back and spins the lifter around to the home position.

      Gripping the ball jams the axel that drives the head nodding and gripper, letting a differential transfer power to do the rest.

    I assume these use a differential for the logic? Since they are purely mechanical, I can't think how else the robots would default to trying to grab and then only spinning once they find a ball otherwise.

      I assume the small difference between grabbed and ungrabbed state is enough for a gear to catch, thus driving the rest of the motion.

    The robots are so cute and the machanism level over 9000, but my personal disorder want the left robot turn into the opposite direction to work like a mirror.

    Super cool and cute! Can you try making the right one turn the other way. Now it is less efficient unloading the balls since it goes against gravity

      To lift the balls to the robots, and the middle one is to divide them into 2 groups, one for each robot

    Amazing! I'm guessing it detects when the arms don't retract all the way, then it flips. Genius design, I like when they are out of sync because it shows how each robot it independent.
