I suffered from bruxism for over a decade. One day I moved out of my parents' home and broke up with my girlfriend of 8 years. My bruxism literally disappeared the first day I was on my own. I can't recommend taking stock of your relationships enough.
I started clenching my jaw 8 years ago due to high stress in my job. I’ve been wearing a mouth guard every night for the last 7 years and have broken two already 😅 but I don’t have as much pain in my jaw as I did. I also eat carbs but drink tea or water in between and I use alcohol free mouthwash, so far my teeth are fine, no cavities and I’ve only ever had 1 filling and I’m 37, so not doing too bad I think.
Hi! I know, ideally you are supposed to wait at least 30 minutes after eating to brush, but when Im at work, I dont have that time. So, within 5 or so minutes after I eat at work, I brush with Burst Flouride toothpaste that contains xylitol, floss, and then rinse with Spry Xylitol mouthwash. Do you think this is a good routine?
I’ve had bruxism since I was a kid and always wore a night guard. I did well until I turned 39. Then I started getting chipped teeth and thinning. 🥺 At 35, I was told getting my wisdom teeth removed would help with my headaches so I went with it. Didn’t even make a dent in the pain. I just clench and grind too much.
A big emotion to add is anxiety. I just went to my dentist last week to tell them about my lower jaw pain (on the left) and he said it’ll go away in a few days-weeks. Not sure what caused it but it was pretty painful. My jaw is much better now 😊
Hiah Whitney..... Sometimes when spitting is not an option..then I just take some drinking water in my mouth rinse and then swallow the water.... what's your thought on that as a dental hygienist....??🙂↕️ And can we do it all the time for convenience...?🙂↔️
I must be in the 1% - I actually cracked a tooth while I had my night guard in. Unfortunately, my gum grew into the area. Didn't know there was other treatment for bruxism until this happened. My dentist now has me on Botox which has relieved my headaches and the clenching/grinding while sleeping.
I can understand in some relate to grinding your teeth at night. I mean, I don’t both of my parents do so I constantly see the grinder container or whatever it’s called in the room or on top of the container and can be kind of a big problem.
Hi Whitney! Please I have asked many dentists and nobody knows why I develop small black dots in my teeth (I don't drink/smoke/do drgs/alcohol/and I eat pretty healthy)... The only way to remove these annoying black dots (small but the more time passes by, it becomes more noticeable because there are more and more) is by doing dental cleanings. Last time I went is 4 months ago and I already have some black dots. Is any way I can prevent getting these? I brush my teeth twice and use a flosser + tongue scrapper daily...
One of the things that surprised me about shadowing in a dental office was the amount of sugar and carbs the staff had in their break room. And they had a lot. To be fair, everybody also flossed right after lunch, but it still surprised me that the people telling you to avoid sugar and carbs consumed so much of it. (Also sorry Whitney, I hope I’m not spoiling a trade secret)
Funny you should mention that. I have worked in a major hospital for many years and the amount of soda, desserts, and candy that is found in breakrooms, conference rooms during meetings, and offices, is off the charts. And -- if it can be stored in those lab coat pockets, you will find a fistful or two in there, also!

A nice smile and beautiful teeth really speak for themselves.❤

Recently there were reports on the news that Xylitol caused some health problems. Could you help us look that up and do a lesson on this?
here's my video regarding that -- hope this helps: ruclips.net/user/shortsCyFXxLa7nHQ
Basically go back to a hunter-gatherer diet vs an agricultural one if we take most processed grained out.
I've learned so much from you! So grateful you post for free for everyone. QQ are those red light therapies for teeth and gums a scam??

Omg thank you so much ❤❤
Simple carbohydrates are basically poison on so many levels…. But delicious…. 🤷♂️
Are over the counter mouth guards a good?and safe option?
Thank you kindly,

hi! totally! swishing and drinking the water works too! either way it helps your teeth :)
What are your thoughts on a gum stimulator? Is a water flosser a better alternative? Thank you.

lol totally a thing! not by our choice! patients always bringing us sweets 😂
The people at my dental office are self proclaimed “chocoholics”
Whitneey 🤠
Nice chair!😬
If you accidentally get lipstick 💄 on your teeth 🦷 is that bad too?
Why are dentists closed on Fridays?
They’re not! While a few individual offices might close on Fridays, it’s not a common practice for dental offices as a whole.
thank you for watching!
Your a really beautiful woman

thank you!!!
