      I hear ya, but there are reasonable hardbaits available, zoom plastics are still a bargain, 20 worms for what $6 bucks? It’s still affordable to fish if you look around. I mean not everyone can afford a GLX , I can and I love the rods. I could get by on a cheaper rod but I’m not going to do it. I enjoy my gear. Ok, here’s another aspect for the tournament organizations. I’ve been fishing as a Co-angler since the Redman days and I enjoy gettting to go out and spend the day fishing with a new person on a new body of water. I literally plan my vacations around the Toyota series every year but after spending the entire season setting in the back watching a guy play on his video game I decided I would rather go spend a week in Branson with my wife . The tournament organization isn’t getting my $100 membership per year and the city that paid them to come fish their lake isn’t getting my money to spend on food, hotels. I’m not the only Co-angler that feels this way. We are seeing more and more boater on boater draws these days in the BFL’s just because they can’t get enough Non boaters to fish

Sure, they’d have to sacrifice a little here and there but it was attainable. Now, you’ve got clowns with a quarter million dollars in a boat loaded with video screens and more tech than it tacks nasa to launch a space craft, and they have betrayed their largest market of consumers. They'd like the pro to say "I won tournament XYZ fishing a (insert crank, top water, bladed jig) to drive sales. But now the pros / tournaments can't advertise anything other than 2-4 products, when the manufacturer has as many as 100+.

    @RandyWood-p9x 3 месяца назад

    Prices for many new soft plastic minnow baits is outrageous, 2 to $3 dollars per bait for lure may only be able to catch 1-3 bass on it before it’s trashed. In turn other hard baits prices have increased too.

    Exactly right Randy. I cast was pretty much all about FFS baits. Sad situation right now in the fishing industry. I did hear that the MLF/BPT will be doing 1/2 tournaments with FFS and 1/2 without. But Bass has still done nothing. I personally would like to see Bass do a year without it, just to see who can actually fish from knowledge and instincts and not solely rely on FFS. I know it will NEVER happen. Now Lowrance has come out with the Eagle eye 9 for $1,000. My opinion, that’s still a high price for everyday fisherman and it’s not solving the real problem. I can tell you, from my experience, the local lake we fish is an hour away, it is NOT fishing like it used to. I spoke with a gentleman who had been fishing the same lake for 25 years and he said, the lake keeps getting worse but more so over the last 5 years. 🤔 wonder why that is? It’s only a 1750 acre reservoir anyway. Not river fed. Just a water supply reservoir. That lake was considered the best fishery in Southern Illinois. Not so much now. This year and last year have been awful. Oh, you can catch a couple 6 inches, but who wants to just fish for dinkers. Can’t even catch them in numbers anymore. Definitely a sad situation.

    Randy they released a new lure spray at icast, not a scent, not a color, but a sonar enhancing spray that will better highlight your lure on FFS, absolutely ridiculous

    Wanted to make a suggestion. This is not specific to live scope, but it would be interesting to see a discussion of your experience with the decline of bass fishing in various lakes with a fisheries biologist. Steve Bardin has appeared in a couple RUclipss I’ve seen and I think it would make for an interesting discussion. .

    If Forward Facing Sonar is not banned, it will bring about the end of fishing as a whole. fisheries will collapse and DNR/MMR will stop us from fishing anywhere and everywhere.

    I'm 43 years old and head coach of our high school fishing team. FFS is not as bad as you are making it out to be. It is a GREAT tool for teaching kids how fish react to different presentations. I was a great fisherman before I put a LiveScope in my boat and I have also learned a lot. It makes fishing more enjoyable for everyone. It's not ever going away so it's time to just accept this. I used to enjoy watching your videos Randy but the anti LiveScope stuff is getting a little old

Just more evidence of the economic condition of our sport/hobby/career..good work as usual Randy..

    I'm not certain FFS is the cause for the loss of lure sales. In the past 2 years, cost of goods has skyrocketed. Two years ago, our family averaged $600 a month for groceries. Now it's about $1K! Therefore, my fishing tackle budget took a hit. I think this FFS vs tackle sales argument might be a causation vs correlation fallacy. 🤷‍♂️

    Randy, I agree with you 💯 on your stance with FFS. But I have a question I have been wanting to ask you for a while now. Hypothetically, what would you do if Garmin or Lowrance came to you and wanted to give you a full boat wrap sponsorship. Boat and all, sort of like a turnkey sponsorship???

    What if all the anglers, at least an overwhelming majority showed up to a tournament, and publicly pulled their video game screens off their boat before hitting the water. I bet people would pay more attention to these andler's weigh-ins than the spotlighters' weigh-ins, if any...
    And the statement it would make, we just need unity!
