Ordered as soon as went live. Hoping for garlic update for the plus which uses the hw acceleration soon. Will be holding on to my 35xx also until then.
The # of people I've seen troubleshooting the R35/R36S is staggering. I'm really glad to see some more hype around the RG35XX+. Anbernic hasn't had the best year, but it's good that they seem to be finishing pretty strong!
Yeah just now uploading my review of the r36 s. I got to say I'm pretty amazed with that device at the price point. If they're the same price I probably would choose the Ambernic just because of their experience and garlic OS
@@Acbr78 Yes there are now but I think 3 weeks ago maybe not so many. They're both fantastic devices and we all win when they compete and bring us better and better devices so I'm really glad that somebody is trying to outdo ambernic
Same, I own a few handhelds now but it all started with the RG35XX. I still have that one with me daily, the other handhelds are larger and more powerful, but this one is so conveniently sized and does everything it does wonderfully. Love the RG35XX, and hoping the Plus is good too!
Thanks for the review. I'm glad I ordered this the day it went live and really looking forward to a stable CFW and your updated review of the RG35XX Plus when that happens. Thank you 👍
Word of caution. The case is usually given to the reviewers and not to the general public with the set you buy. Purchased two devices from Anbernic with sd cards, specified a case in the notes because they didn’t have it on their site and still didn’t get one!🤬
Got my rg35xxplus £70 and replaced the sd cards with two 128gb samsung cards for £20 custom boot logo wallpaper and added my entire library and custom roms love this device.
Is there an LED for power that glows when it's on? I want to know if it matters for the transparent cases. Also: thanks for showing ffta2. That's the main ds game I play.
It has a green power light and an amber charging light. Both are pretty dim as far as these things go. Mine is nowhere near the lightsaber effect I had on the transparent Miyoo Mini Plus in a dark room.
This, definitely. Miyoo does not have RTC and its hella usefull to have that option in Pokemon. Its a Real Time Clock that determines day/night cycle and days of the week. For example to participate in bug catching contest in Johto. Go with RG35xx or plus.
It doesn't have built in memory, but it comes with a 64gb SD card. We have a full review coming out tomorrow morning with all that info, you can also find the links in the description for where you can buy it. -Aish
Quick question regarding the sd card. If I do not want to deal with trying to install a new os or roms due to lack of experience, can I just copy the supplied sd cards onto sandisk ones I purchase?
Right now? Not really unless you're crazy about achievements. But if this goes like the 35xx, you might want to get it just with the expectation of cfw development moving into January and beyond.
It's still solid. If you don't need wifi or above PSX, keep using it. If you want the upgrade, give it as a gift to a friend and spread the RH contagion!
yes. I gave my RG35 to my nephew and purchased a gamecube for myself as I want to play F-Zero GX on it. Also looking for a cheap handheld with a bigger screen@@retrohandhelds
RGB30 is more powerful, but it's niche in the fact that it has a 1:1 screen. If you're not going to play a ton of Gameboy or 4:3 stuff set to 8:7, then the plus might be a better option. A lot of these "budget" handhelds now have similar specs, so it comes down to personal preferences with ergonomics and screen tbh. -Zu

you need to play the more demanding games on the emulators so we can see the performance. Put anbernic on the spot bro, just because they sent you the device.

They got cfw running emulation station now. Called koriki or something like that. Gonna install that on mine when I get it.
Word of caution.

Yep, at least they don't picture the device with the case ... The original 35XX did come with one of you selected it as an add on when purchasing.
Sense has been made!
4:10 that was a quick boot time indeed! I wish people wouldnt cut away one of the most important part of basic handheld devices.
Our livestream of the 35xx Plus has a live boot time.

Miyoo Mini Plus rumored to have Onion OS on it in the future? The war is heating up. The Allium War.
We expected the onions to fight the garlic. What we never saw coming was the Broccoli Nation.
Wonderful review.
I have one question for you good sir!
Does powerstone work for Dreamcast ?
RG35XX Plus vs Miyoo Mini Plus?
Soon.
Is the case textured like the grey and white colors? Or is it slick like most transparent handhelds
Textured a bit. It feels exactly the same as the original gray 35xx.
Good video, picking one up once the software is up to par
Hope we see Garlic or another OS. There are so many systems missing. If Garlic gets ported, we can copy everything over from our RG35XX.
Ordered one today 🎉

any recommendations on the cheapest handheld that can play N64 flawlessly but with a bigger screen. I'm thinking the retroid 2s, maybe???
This or the miyoo mini plus for pokemon?

I live for those sound effects. Zu FTW
Sometimes I'm not even aware that I'm making the noises until editing. 🤣
Thanks!
How much built in memory does it have? What site did you get it at? And is this worth buying over the predecessor RG35XX ?
It doesn't have built in memory, but it comes with a 64gb SD card.

I just want to play Mario Kart from N64. Any handheld suggestions?
Quick question regarding the sd card. If I do not want to deal with trying to install a new os or roms due to lack of experience, can I just copy the supplied sd cards onto sandisk ones I purchase?
No
Does the handheld carrying case shown at the beginning of the clip come with the device?
No. Those are sold separately.
That little blip noise is so satisfying
Is it worth getting over the cheaper original rg35xx? Im only looking to play mostly ps1 and gba games
Right now? Not really unless you're crazy about achievements. But if this goes like the 35xx, you might want to get it just with the expectation of cfw development moving into January and beyond.
Do the buttons feel as good as the miyoo mini plus? I just got the retroid pocket 2s but the buttons suck ass.
Buttons feel pretty good. They're scaled nicely for the size of the handheld and pretty responsive.
Great review, thx. Can it do fast forward when playing gba and other consoles? And how fast can it go?
Yes. It'll FF up to PSX with lots of overhead. Dreamcast and PSP are more hit or miss.
And what should I do with the previous model. Buy a new model ?)

Does it rattle?
Not as much as the old one. There's a shake test early on in the video if you want to listen for yourself.
