I believe that is also because he has achieved everything. It seems in a way that he is at peace and is somewhat happy he can still perform at this level and doesn´t mind losing once in a while. Was never really a Nole fan, but you gotta give it to him, he is extremely fair and as you said super respectful.
This man is a MACHINE on indoor hardcourts! Fast-paced courts are also quite good for his game. If Sinner keeps this up he's got a real shot at the Australian Open!
It was a 3 sets match only because the opponent was Djokovic. Unbelievable ball striking by Sinner. Recovery after each shot was so amazing. This kid is the new star of the tennis show.
This is how good you have to be to beat Nole, man what an effort from Sinner, this match gave everybody a message that if you have to beat djoko you have to be on god mode, amazing win for sinner i’m rooting for you to win this title
I think that's the correct analysis of this match's significance. Not "future number 1" or "change of the guards". Sinner played fantastic tennis and still won only by the tightest of margins. It's possible but still very speculative he can maintain this level. Djokovic on the other hand has been maintaining this level for 13 years straight. He's ALWAYS this good. He loves these kind of matches even if he loses. They motivate him and keep him going. After the epic Wimbledon fonal he came back to win an epic Cincinnati final, then US Open and Paris Masters. He won't give these talented youngsters anything for free, they will have to "piss blood" to remove him from no 1 position.
@@shootingfromthehip3600 The crowd was an embarrassment. There’s a difference between cheering for Sinner and cheering for a double fault. They inserted themselves into the match and were rightfully mocked by Novak for 3 hours.
Coming from a novak fan : sinner played the match of his life. Amazing level from the 🥕 boy. Defeating nole in a 3rd set TB is an amazing job. Sinner was serving bonkers, he was receiving brilliantly ,his ground strokes were of highest quality , some plays and passes he made were absolutely top notch. Even Djokovic couldn't stop himself from applauding a few of those. And mainly sinner was mentally up for it. Djokovic was also playing at a decent level. Not that he was at his best but still he could beat anyone with this level. Djokovic really made some UFE where he generally makes those shots and it's ok to loose to a guy who played better today. But if it is a sinner vs Djokovic final then it will a different Djokovic altogether. The level will keep on increasing from here on and sinner will see a different monster at the finals. Novak vs jannik on hardcourts will be a treat to watch. Also coming from a novak fan : see you in the finals jannik. the scoreline won't be the same 😉.
Djokovic has to get out of his group first. He must win his match against Hurkacz to put pressure on Rune to beat Sinner. And even if Djokovic wins in 2 sets, if Rune wins in 2 sets as well, then Djokovic is out. The way that Sinner is playing, Rune will have a tough time. But also Rune has had a lot more time to rest than Sinner has. And Rune almost beat Djokovic. So this group isn’t over quite yet As for Alcaraz, he must win against Rublev and Medvedev to give himself the best possible chance to make it. This year’s ATP Finals just got a whole lot more interesting
Even when he loses he manages to blow my mind , he is 36 for God sake and he was toe to toe with the sharpest player in the circuit now , his flexibility the way he moved on court and specially his automotivation , what drives him now? I mean is there any unbroken record left for this guy?, I mean I´m Spanish Nadal is my idol but Nole is arguably the GOAT and the most amazing and complete player who ever held a racket

While we.wwre.singing the praises of Alcaraz there was another champion Sinner working and getting better. He's finally beat the best player and he came close twice. I hope he keeps improving. I always admire Djokovic's fighting spirit and will, but in the end he is always humble and congratules sincerely when he loses. No blury handshakes, it is firm and respectful.
I believe that is also because he has achieved everything. It seems in a way that he is at peace and is somewhat happy he can still perform at this level and doesn´t mind losing once in a while. Was never really a Nole fan, but you gotta give it to him, he is extremely fair and as you said super respectful.

Incredible returns from Novak and Sinner, what a match
It was a 3 sets match only because the opponent was Djokovic. Unbelievable ball striking by Sinner. Recovery after each shot was so amazing. This kid is the new star of the tennis show.
True, most other players would’ve been a blowout by sinner because of his level here. Only Nole could hold him at bay for so long
Dejen de inflar a los jugadores, que por comentarios así es que Alcaraz creyó que no tenía rival
I'm rooting for Sinner myself, but I'm still expecting Djokovic or even Rune (my dark horse) to win this tournament.
@@knotwilg3596 Correct. Some people jump into uplifting a player after one great match. Sinner has to do this on a regular basis to be uplifted like some are doing. Many players have had at least one match where they played on God mode, but very few can do that often.

This aggressive playstyle that sinner has, really going for winners and moving the opponent around rather than waiting for an error or playing more defensive. It's just so much fun to watch
I hope la Nazionale (men's football) played like that. Another difference is that so called football players are fashion models in their heads, while Sinner is a tennis player. I hope he won't change that mindset over time.
My man Sinner chasing those lines to millimiter accuracy, his play was just perfection! Even Djoko couldn't handle it.

Very, very impressive performance by Sinner. Because every time Nole - who really played at his best today - came back from a deficit, Jannik, instead of succumbing, was able to even raise his game.
We will see mate, but first I'm dreading that matchup with Rune
the only touch opponent for Sinner is Daniel while Novak still has Alcaraz and Daniel to beat after losing to Sinner..
@@zamantshingamtshali4475 if Alcaraz makes it to the semi-finals, that is.
So this group isn’t over quite yet
As for Alcaraz, he must win against Rublev and Medvedev to give himself the best possible chance to make it. This year’s ATP Finals just got a whole lot more interesting
