I have the Same Amp for atleast 10yrs no Issues & I run it with my 2547dx & Turner SuperSideKick Mic on Low I Transmit Allover the World. Waving from the Mini State 297 RI..!!
@@Ncharlestun not sure why yours would keep blowing up. i had a Xforce i had built from ground up that did the same thing kept popping pills, and it aint my swr`s because im still running the same ol KLV blue and it keeps on trucking. and i know my antennas/coax is just fine. maybe your tech can put some kind of protection circuit in it? I am driving mine with 3/4 watt with 15 watt swing from a uniden Washington and ol blue been going for about 6/7 years now.. good luck
I have a big radio that puts out 1.5 watts on low RF on channels 1-10 and 1 watt on channels above 20. It will still easily swing 10. I've had the pills to blow up twice. On high RF the range is 2.5 to 3.5 watts. I need to hook up my little Cobra mobiles to it.
So its basically a 300 watt amp. Reminds me of the transistor base i had once that was a palomar 500 and it did ONLY 250 watts pep on a good day. It was a disappointment
Usually the wattage displayed on the amplifiers are INPUT wattage ... but the actual output wattage is a little better than half of the input .... so a KLV-550 should do 300 watts output and proper drive levels ... 325 ? That's about right .... I have one and on SSB it does around 450 ... 73 ... DE 222
Eric.. never go by whats on the front of the amp. its always been that way. i used to think the same thing way back when in the 70`s i got a chrome top palomar 500 and like you said 250 out put . live and learn.

Just got one today. Seems legit.
yep I have one and its a nice small amp, looks awesome but if you drive over 3/4 watts DC you`ll kill it like rooster said nothing over 20 watt swing
Mine keeps blowing up after repairs and running on low RF.

Eric 12374 these amps are far from big watt makers

Well most CBers don't understand that hammie talk input crap, just advertise what the expected output is to make it easier to understand..
Yeah, he should dumb it down for "most CBers". Maybe they should get their Ham License if they want to play Ham Operator. Duh.
