    @Makingnewnamesisdumb i think you're talking about the m44, the reason its more aaccurate w/ the bayonet out is cause it was designed to shoot that way. it was sighted in with the bayonet out and when its folded in it has more weight on the right side of the barrel. that changes the harmonics and a bunch of stuff

    I know it's been mentioned before but thank you for serving our country.
    Second, awesome reviews. I feel as I know this gun and I haven't even bought it yet.

    I've had the cooking peice fire (on an empty chamber) while I was trying to take it off of safe. So I never mess with the safety anymore. I just check chamber for empty and decock it and store it decocked.

    @ HDMann292 the carbine is an M38. But round receivers are offered on both carbines and full length rifles.

    Awesome video. Imma bit worried about shooting mine, which I will get my hands on Wednesday because of the whole proper pertrusion of the firing pin, I have heard its dangerous to fire one until you check to see if everything is alright with it, but I aint no gunsmith and dont wanna take anything apart that I cant put back together. You think a gunsmith can help me make sure everything is good to fiure before I shoot it for the 1st time, what would be the fee to take it apart and inspect it? thx

    Interesting about trigger weight being roughly equal to weight of a military rifle. Very knowledgeable. I have an Izzy but I wish I had seen this before I bought it.

    Nice review man, and thank you for serving our country! my brother is just about to finish basic training, then he's off to college, so i really appreciate our troops. I don't understand the hippies who think you guys are evil murderers...
    Either way, were the M44's (ones with bayonet) zero-d with the bayonet attached, and the M38's (without bayonet) zero-d with no bayonet? because i know that some models are more accurate with the bayonet attached...

    2:20 incorrect as you will notice that if you take the bolt out and do the exact same thing, the firing pin comes out and if you do that with a live round in the chamber the firearm will discharge. Try it.

  • @revvinkevin85
    @revvinkevin85 15 лет назад

    do you cheak the headspace on your mosin nagants? i was looking at getting the headspace guage but they require you to remove the extractor and i dont know how to remove it from the bolt .... i really dont want this old rifle to blow up in my face haha

    I Have A QUESTION!!! When you showed the pictures of the symbols I went and looked at my receiver and I have the triangle and arrow for Iveshk or how ever you spell it but there is also a hammer on top of it very visible on both what the hell does that mean and also the bottom of my receiver has a different serial number so what's up with that.

    • @sschwartz2509
      @sschwartz2509 8 лет назад

      Since the russians had to build these as fast as possible, and in turn repair them, if a recovered rifle needed a new receiver the first decent one found would just be put on it. it is hard to find one that has matching numbers and markings.

    • @jz8805
      @jz8805 6 лет назад

      The hammer is Ishevsk, not Tula.

    • @michaelbenjmitchell1
      @michaelbenjmitchell1 4 года назад

      @@jz8805 No the hammer is Tula. Izshevek had a Bow and Arrow on their stuff early on.

    Why would a rifle be more accurate with a bayonette attached? Does it actually flex the barrel or something?

  • @monkey6321
    @monkey6321 14 лет назад

    @DrewDawg50
    Pretty much. It means when the arsenal got the weapon back from a soldier or it got damaged in the warehouse or whatever they doctored it up to get it back to specs.

  • @DeadVoidzzz999
    @DeadVoidzzz999 2 года назад

    Mine has ddr markings and a strange double crescent moon looking symbol i'm yet to fing out what it is for its shaped kinda like this --> (⁽ exept little one is centered and they fit together evenly i know the rifle was assigned to a ukraine unit (has the marking for it at least) and made in ihzevsk in 45' and has bas been redone in the soviet arsenal at least once but it also has some more markings that i just cant trace they are in cyrillic so not sure on where they're from

  • @masterofnotmuch
    @masterofnotmuch 14 лет назад

    i had a enfield no.3 mk.1 the trigger pull on that was very light it was a little over 2 pounds on a 15 pound gun. i believe it was made as a sniper. had "U.S. property" on the left side of the ejection port (witch i found weird on a British gun) forget the month but it was made in 1943

  • @TheGabaghoul741
    @TheGabaghoul741 14 лет назад

    My mosin nagant is weird, its an Izhevsk made in 1941, it has the Izhevsk marking in a wreath, but the weird part is that it has a tula star stamped right above the Izhevsk mark, the star is poorly stamped into the receiver so its like half way stamped but nonetheless, idk whats up with that

  • @Gunluver1

  • @homerjigmee

    my mosin has the triangle mark on it, but on the top back part of the bolt, there is a small cross. just wondering if that means anything.

  • @Milo_1368
    @Milo_1368 15 лет назад

    On the metal,
    the "Y' is probably a proof mark but the little "c" stamps leave me confused.
    I'll try and get some pictures up.

    The rifle has a short bolt handle because Russians considered it to be sticking out and touching other objects such as leaves, walls etc. That's why they made the bolt handle short.
