@Makingnewnamesisdumb i think you're talking about the m44, the reason its more aaccurate w/ the bayonet out is cause it was designed to shoot that way. it was sighted in with the bayonet out and when its folded in it has more weight on the right side of the barrel. that changes the harmonics and a bunch of stuff
I know it's been mentioned before but thank you for serving our country. Second, awesome reviews. I feel as I know this gun and I haven't even bought it yet.
I've had the cooking peice fire (on an empty chamber) while I was trying to take it off of safe. So I never mess with the safety anymore. I just check chamber for empty and decock it and store it decocked.
Awesome video. Imma bit worried about shooting mine, which I will get my hands on Wednesday because of the whole proper pertrusion of the firing pin, I have heard its dangerous to fire one until you check to see if everything is alright with it, but I aint no gunsmith and dont wanna take anything apart that I cant put back together. You think a gunsmith can help me make sure everything is good to fiure before I shoot it for the 1st time, what would be the fee to take it apart and inspect it? thx
Interesting about trigger weight being roughly equal to weight of a military rifle. Very knowledgeable. I have an Izzy but I wish I had seen this before I bought it.
Nice review man, and thank you for serving our country! my brother is just about to finish basic training, then he's off to college, so i really appreciate our troops. I don't understand the hippies who think you guys are evil murderers... Either way, were the M44's (ones with bayonet) zero-d with the bayonet attached, and the M38's (without bayonet) zero-d with no bayonet? because i know that some models are more accurate with the bayonet attached...
I was thinking of about cutting my barrel and having it recrowned. My question is what is the main reason for doing so? I notice that alot of people like shortening there barrel. Thank you for your time.
2:20 incorrect as you will notice that if you take the bolt out and do the exact same thing, the firing pin comes out and if you do that with a live round in the chamber the firearm will discharge. Try it.
do you cheak the headspace on your mosin nagants? i was looking at getting the headspace guage but they require you to remove the extractor and i dont know how to remove it from the bolt .... i really dont want this old rifle to blow up in my face haha
I Have A QUESTION!!! When you showed the pictures of the symbols I went and looked at my receiver and I have the triangle and arrow for Iveshk or how ever you spell it but there is also a hammer on top of it very visible on both what the hell does that mean and also the bottom of my receiver has a different serial number so what's up with that.
Since the russians had to build these as fast as possible, and in turn repair them, if a recovered rifle needed a new receiver the first decent one found would just be put on it. it is hard to find one that has matching numbers and markings.
@DrewDawg50 Pretty much. It means when the arsenal got the weapon back from a soldier or it got damaged in the warehouse or whatever they doctored it up to get it back to specs.
Mine has ddr markings and a strange double crescent moon looking symbol i'm yet to fing out what it is for its shaped kinda like this --> (⁽ exept little one is centered and they fit together evenly i know the rifle was assigned to a ukraine unit (has the marking for it at least) and made in ihzevsk in 45' and has bas been redone in the soviet arsenal at least once but it also has some more markings that i just cant trace they are in cyrillic so not sure on where they're from
i had a enfield no.3 mk.1 the trigger pull on that was very light it was a little over 2 pounds on a 15 pound gun. i believe it was made as a sniper. had "U.S. property" on the left side of the ejection port (witch i found weird on a British gun) forget the month but it was made in 1943
My mosin nagant is weird, its an Izhevsk made in 1941, it has the Izhevsk marking in a wreath, but the weird part is that it has a tula star stamped right above the Izhevsk mark, the star is poorly stamped into the receiver so its like half way stamped but nonetheless, idk whats up with that
The rifle has a short bolt handle because Russians considered it to be sticking out and touching other objects such as leaves, walls etc. That's why they made the bolt handle short.
The C with the Circle around it is for Accuracy not for any location. it is a Tool-er MARK as the gun is a more Accurate firing of the WEAPON!! Get your Facts Straight!
i tried the "holding the rifle by the trigger" trick with my yugo sks, it didn't work with that either. but then again, a nine pound trigger does sound pretty ridiculous
if your rifle came with the tool its pretty easy to check yourself theres some videos out here on youtube on how to adjust the firing pin protrustion.... if you wanna save a buck and iraqveteran8888 has a good video on assembly and disassembly of the bolt..
I just bought 15 rounds of 7.62x54r just for the striper clips date 1940 head stamp 188 but im afraid to shot it for it being so old would you like to shot it in your videos I will send it to you free of charge
You forgot the sestorysick(sp?) arsenal, and the VKT finn marks. It's pronounced eez-hev-sk.:) I get screwed up on it all the time and just call it izzy, but I sound even dumber saying that. lol
Hello from the future. $89.95 is an amazing price. It will be worth 6x more in 2022. Buy any russian ak, dragonov or sks you can afford to buy now. Dragonovs will be worth 5k+ and ak's will be 2.5k +
@Iraqveteran8888 That's wierd you say that, my M91/30's bayonet flew off the front the first time I shot it. Unfortunately we fired over a river during flood season and my bayonet landed right in it. Bout fifteen feet of water going at thirty miles per hour. Hit my target though! Fml
@Iraqveteran8888 @0:33 you mention receivers. I saw a An M1891/30 infantry rifle at a Gander Mtn, for 129.99, (it's gone now :( ) But it was marked "r1943". I believe it was an authentic Russian infatntry rifle in WW2. W D U T?
@shasha1873 Israel is not our boss, and america is more and more distancing itself from israel. And i am by no means and Anti-semite, as i love israel.
Out of all tour videos, this series is still my favorite. 10 years later, how many mosins you own now?
just got mine. without this vid i wouldnt have known where to start. Thanks.
My mosin nagant has just about everyone of those markings on it somewhere with matching serial# to.😊
Mine does too what does that mean?
Same here
I have a Tula M91/30, I love it.
outstanding my man, much appreciated.
Hey thanks a lot you helped me find out that I have a 1934 izhevsk hex reciever
@Makingnewnamesisdumb i think you're talking about the m44, the reason its more aaccurate w/ the bayonet out is cause it was designed to shoot that way. it was sighted in with the bayonet out and when its folded in it has more weight on the right side of the barrel. that changes the harmonics and a bunch of stuff

The front sight is adjustable for windage.
Yes it also has a "Y" in a circle down and left from the crest.
Wow, thank you for this video! I learned a lot about my Mosin Nagant in just eight short minutes.
Got a izzy 1938 91/30 all matching parts and i love it
I've had the cooking peice fire (on an empty chamber) while I was trying to take it off of safe. So I never mess with the safety anymore. I just check chamber for empty and decock it and store it decocked.
@ HDMann292 the carbine is an M38. But round receivers are offered on both carbines and full length rifles.
Interesting about trigger weight being roughly equal to weight of a military rifle. Very knowledgeable. I have an Izzy but I wish I had seen this before I bought it.
Great video!
This is a great review. I saw some of these at a local gun store here, and it seemed like an interesting gun.
Nice review man, and thank you for serving our country! my brother is just about to finish basic training, then he's off to college, so i really appreciate our troops. I don't understand the hippies who think you guys are evil murderers...

Great video...how many diff. mosin nagant models is there..I have a 91-30 and a M44....ALSO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SEVICE..
I have so many questions about my 1938 ichovec refurbished M91-30.
Will the Mosin-Nagant fire a round if you decock the rifle with a round in the chamber?
I think I'm pretty sure
I was thinking of about cutting my barrel and having it recrowned. My question is what is the main reason for doing so? I notice that alot of people like shortening there barrel. Thank you for your time.
yeah mine has an empty diamond on the receiver all by itself.
the rest of the marks are on the barrel shank.
Interesting, I wish I could look at it. Is the floorplate number electrostenciled? In other words, did they force match it?
great videos man, fun to learn about my new 91/30. thanks
The decocker is a great feature
yea, with my nagant after shooting it a while, the bolt seems to get tighter and tighter, harder to cock, any solution for this problem?
I Have A QUESTION!!! When you showed the pictures of the symbols I went and looked at my receiver and I have the triangle and arrow for Iveshk or how ever you spell it but there is also a hammer on top of it very visible on both what the hell does that mean and also the bottom of my receiver has a different serial number so what's up with that.

The hammer is Ishevsk, not Tula.
@@jz8805 No the hammer is Tula. Izshevek had a Bow and Arrow on their stuff early on.
Why would a rifle be more accurate with a bayonette attached? Does it actually flex the barrel or something?
@DrewDawg50
Pretty much. It means when the arsenal got the weapon back from a soldier or it got damaged in the warehouse or whatever they doctored it up to get it back to specs.

I've got a 1925 tula hex 91/30 and I've got a B on the stock and a hell more cartushis
what model is the round receiver? I like the shorter barrel look to it.
my mosin has the triangle mark on it, but on the top back part of the bolt, there is a small cross. just wondering if that means anything.
On the metal,
the "Y' is probably a proof mark but the little "c" stamps leave me confused.
I'll try and get some pictures up.
hey man don't know if someone said it but just trying to help you. what youw ere talkin about izzy , is Izmash which would be pronounced like eezmash
The rifle has a short bolt handle because Russians considered it to be sticking out and touching other objects such as leaves, walls etc. That's why they made the bolt handle short.
What is beter to take imperial Russia mosin rifle ore m44 carabine (in perfect state bouth)
Sorry but no front sight elevation adjustment, just windage.
Got a 1937 tula can't hit crap cause I keep flinching lol but its a awsome gun and fun to shoot
The C with the Circle around it is for Accuracy not for any location. it is a Tool-er MARK as the gun is a more Accurate firing of the WEAPON!! Get your Facts Straight!
what type of wood is used in Finnish stocks ?.... just by looks the Finnish rifle is far more refined. i have a Tula and a Izhevsk but no Finns
I hate to break it to you but The Battle of Stalingrad was (23 August 1942 - 2 February 1943) and that gun was not even made yet.
Thanks for the info.
@Iraqveteran8888 what version is the carbin or shorter one
i tried the "holding the rifle by the trigger" trick with my yugo sks, it didn't work with that either. but then again, a nine pound trigger does sound pretty ridiculous
I never ever knew that you could turn the safety to to the right
if your rifle came with the tool its pretty easy to check yourself theres some videos out here on youtube on how to adjust the firing pin protrustion.... if you wanna save a buck and iraqveteran8888 has a good video on assembly and disassembly of the bolt..
at the end im hearing peanut butter jelly time, hilarious
Ishevsk
I would pronounce it "eeshevsk"
tom bats - I worked there and you are correct.
My mosin nagant has a hevy triger pull. I can probably estimate it over 10 lb
Great Guns!
Mines got a star with the arrow in it ??
I just bought 15 rounds of 7.62x54r just for the striper clips date 1940 head stamp 188 but im afraid to shot it for it being so old would you like to shot it in your videos I will send it to you free of charge
There are people out there that can hit something at 1000 meters with these things ;)
My M44 has "C" stamps, is that weird?
My 91/30 has a Tula star on the receiver but the floorplate says Izhvesk, and the serial numbers match. What does that mean.
Tula factory was probably short on parts and Izhvesk shipped them some.
my finn m39 has a o c and a o p whats the p?
You forgot the sestorysick(sp?) arsenal, and the VKT finn marks. It's pronounced eez-hev-sk.:) I get screwed up on it all the time and just call it izzy, but I sound even dumber saying that. lol
It doesn't appear to be, both numbers are in the same font and style. Weird.
I'm thinking that my 1939 Mosin has at least 20 kills on it because it has tally marks with two numbers after each tally mark
you need an HD camera.
I'll keep my garands. Good video though.
I GOT THE MOSIN NAGANT 91/30 WITH A HEX
HI Iraqveteran, is the Mosin Nagant Hex 1891/30 for 89.95 the good one to get from aimsurplus
Hello from the future. $89.95 is an amazing price. It will be worth 6x more in 2022. Buy any russian ak, dragonov or sks you can afford to buy now. Dragonovs will be worth 5k+ and ak's will be 2.5k +
Agreed.
Proud to be Finnish.
Hammer is Tula
then mine is refurbished, thanks i did not know that
true there isnt any prob with that
@Iraqveteran8888 That's wierd you say that, my M91/30's bayonet flew off the front the first time I shot it. Unfortunately we fired over a river during flood season and my bayonet landed right in it. Bout fifteen feet of water going at thirty miles per hour. Hit my target though! Fml

Mine is a star with a arrow In it ???
Same here Ishevsk Arsenal.
@Iraqveteran8888 yeah the bayonet on my 91/30 is almost impossible to remove.
@Iraqveteran8888
As far as the markings go, you forgot the Russian Communist Sickle-Hammer symbol. Just sayin'.
@shasha1873 Israel is not our boss, and america is more and more distancing itself from israel. And i am by no means and Anti-semite, as i love israel.
The Mosin Nagant has a 4 inch drop at 800 meters
