This camera suddenly died, I thought I would have a poke around to see if I could fix it... I didn't dig too deeply, but the answer looked to be a "no".

Yesterday I had a complaint from a customer that their camera system was not working. One of the handy instruments I use is a Triplett Camview IP Pro+, allows me to power up many of the cameras and look at the outputs of the cameras, even IP cameras. I can also inject a test pattern into the DVR.
I narrowed the problem to the analog ntsc camera, was getting power OK but no video output. I explained to the customer that hardly anybody actually repairs things anymore and that I would probably just get a new camera. But, I told her I'd take a look at the camera. In this case it is a SPECO analog camera. It had two circuit boards, the first took the 24VAC, converted it to 12VDC. What is most important, it has a transformer so that the 12 volts is isolated from the video ground. It is actually a switching power supply. The 24VAC goes through a full wave rectifier, is filtered by an electrolytic capacitor, then switched by some transistors where the signal goes into a tiny transformer. The output, now isolated, goes through more rectification and filtering, then on to the camera module. There were only three wires going to the actual camera pcb, common (gound), video, and 12 volts input. The 12 volts was only a couple volts. I used a bench power supply and momentary bypassed the power supply board, the camera woke up. Most of the components on the power supply board were SMD, but there were two electrolytics, the usual suspects. I don't normally shotgun a circuit, I try to go directly to the suspected bad component. With my B&K meter, I first checked the capacitance of the one at the first rectifier, the value was within spec and the ESR (very important) was a couple ohms. I then checked the filter cap on the output of the switcher that filters the 12 volts to the camera. The capacitance value was within spec, but the ESR was over 130 ohms. I replaced that cap and bingo, the camera was back to life. I didn't have a schematic, but understanding how switchers work certainly helped. BTW, I could see no physical damage anywhere, no bulging caps, nothing. Hope this helps someone. - Jim
I have a very similar camera module I made a night vision system by removing the IR filter. I bought a composite video transmitter and planned a making a wild life camera I could watch on my home TV. Well another unfinished project. I bought a flir thermal camera last year. Have to say not got much use out of it it’s easier to use a finger as my wife says. Nice video thanks for sharing. Regards Chris.
Good tiching karte hai 👌👍
Goo job, congratulações!)!
Where did you put your multimeter to test that?
Can I extend memory card slot by using 1meter 8 rainbow wire in ip camera's ? Will it works?
Great video. My ptz cam have a mic problem. Always have a bad noise when rec video ot watch online. The cam works around 10 days. What u supose is a problem.
Sorry I don’t know, maybe interference from nearby mains cabling?
Can I get an image like a normal camera with ip camera video output cable.
I've always wanted to replace the camera input with something like an HDMI input. Basically I want to pull apart a wyze cam and hook the HDMI output from my old dvr system and be able to view in the wyze app
did you change the capacitor (hot part)did the camera work again?
I put it back in the correct polarity and it has been fine since.
was that a "tubed" crystal on the other side? maybe it's bad and the clock speed of the chip going nuts-o in frequency. usually they just don't run at all, but i;ve seen the random odd device go insane speeds
oh wait!!!!, is this where I should point, laugh and yell "u suck" whilst pointing, instead of shooting possibly helpful ideas :)) ( I'm sure you'll get others doing just that)
I should of checked oscillators actually, that is a good point, as you saw I just had a quick stab at it in case it was something obvious.
Sir I have sq13 mini wifi camera but when I connect its wifi then it's video image is x-ray like i.e while image and sometimes it's image is normal good but suddenly it's video gets x-ray like image....sir how to fix it?
Hey a poke around is always interesting, put a condom on the probe though :-D
I would check the number on that regulator, just so you know the voltage is right.
The problem is some chips to get hot and thats normal.
You could remove that chip for fun lol :-D.
what I seen out and about today, a condom on your probe likely wouldn't save you :)))
