    Anker SOLIX sent me the C1000 to review and compare against some of the other power stations I've used so far. I thought it was going to just be an in-between model of the F1000 and F2000 (powerhouse 757 / 767), but it's got a couple of really surprising updates: geni.us/c1000

    I have a few sogens from different brands ecoflow , Bluetti, pecron. Thier customer service is all sub-par in my experience. Now Anker already has a U.S ready established customer service infrastructure in place because of all the its fairly long history of power banks and other devices. Anker is making some great stuff and some great moves for these sogens.

    I got one of these to power my essentials during outages. I live in the northeast in a town with frequent outages. This unit will allow me to power my gas furnace, refrigerator, and a couple more essentials for several hours up to a full day in some situations. I can use my small gas generator to recharge this unit in an hour for another multi hour cycle. Compared to running a gas generator for 24 hours, this will be bliss. I will also set this up in UPS mode for the furnace when I am going to be away

    Thanks for the video.
    Yours is the second video I’ve seen on this product. Yours is far superior, answering my questions about WiFi/internet connectivity and that it can actually sustain 1800w output. I’d love to know how long it took to run all the way down to 1%…
    Solar generator designation seems wrong. I would call a solar panel a solar generator. This seems to simply be a power or battery bank. Do you call the pocket sized power bank a solar generator? I have a solar panel with a usb c connector that I connect to my pocket sized power bank to charge it. I wouldn’t call the pocket sized power bank a solar generator either. The only way I would consider calling a device a solar generator is if you actually connect it to solar panels to charge it, then maybe it could be a solar battery charger.

    Thanks for this good video about the new Anker power station. It really punches above its weight in terms of power surge.
    This power station is an electrical storage device. Yes, it gets electric from solar panels and then stores this. 'Generator' usually refers to a mechanical device, for example a machine using gas/diesel with rotating parts that creates electricity.
    Well that's what I think.

    I bought this with the 200 watt solar panel. The extra battery is about the same cost as the entire unit. You can power the unit with a 12 or 24 volt battery and a pure sine wave inverter. That’s what I’ve done. The LiTime mini has the same watt hours as the extended battery. I figure that in the (unlikely) event the Anker goes on the Fritz, you’ve still got a separate backup.

    At only a 2X surge rating, the the high frequency, transformerless Anker Solix C1000 doesn't offer and insane surge capacity. Most inductive loads require at least a 3X surge rating. You might be able to start and run some high surge loads when this solar generators is new, but every time you fire up one of those inductive loads, you're shortening the life of the MOSFETs in your solar generator's inverter.
    High frequency solar generators like this unit, run much hotter than longer lived, low frequency, transformer-based solar generators which makes the low cost, off spec, Chinese made components such as capacitors, diodes, resistors and ICs that are used in the cheap inverters that are used in these solar generators, far more prone to early failure.
    Another major consideration with these high frequency, transformerless solar generators is safety. Most solar generators including this Anker unit are not even UL certified for safety. Because there is no output transformer to isolate the high current DC from the AC output, all it would take is for one of the MOSFETs in the inverter's H-Bridge circuit to short to ground or the waveform control circuitry to fail, and these units will can send dangerous, high voltage, high amperage DC current straight to your connected AC loads which will not only damage most AC appliances but can also set those AC appliances on fire.
    A far better alternative is to invest less money and purchase a hybrid, low frequency, transformer based inverter charger and a few LFP battery and build your own "real" solar generator. Low frequency transformer based solar generators last many years longer than these high frequency solar generators, and can easily power high surge loads without being damaged and without damaging your appliances. That's why the big name brand inverter manufacturers like Schneider Electric, Outback Power, Sigineer, Victron and others, all use a low frequency topology in their offerings.

  • @kslip
    @kslip 9 месяцев назад +1

    First, I have a question. Does this include a way to charge via 12V DC for while driving?
    2nd, I wanted to take you up on your invitation to help you understand why I don't consider these a "generator" even when connected with solar panels. It is a power storage device first and foremost with some cool features like an inverter, wifi, and ups capabilities. When you connect solar panels, it's not fuel for a generator, it's a charging source for a battery with an inverter. The solar panel is collecting energy from the sun and charging the battery. The solar panel could function on its own and power some smaller wattage devices as long as there's adequate sunlight, and the LFP battery could power larger wattage devices until it is fully drained. This is not the definition of a generator, as the definition has always been known as in the past. I fully believe the word generator is being stolen and used as a marketing tool for these Battery/"power station"/ solar panel setups. People who are intimidated by technology and have a hard time understanding what a new product is, will instantly understand what it's supposed to do when you say the word "Generator". But it's misleading and could lead to a poor experience for said consumer down the road. I could see someone buying this powerstation along with a few solar panels and taking it camping for a few days, expecting to run some high draw appliances for longer than the battery and solar panel can support, and being surprised/disappointed that the fun has stopped and they must now wait and recharge; Only to be further disappointed that the camp site they chose wasn't in direct sweltering sunlight and/or the sun happened to go down like it tends to do sometimes. Now, they spent a few thousand dollars on all of this and they are embarrassed and frustrated by the experience because they thought it would be as simple as their old generator.
    The reason a conventional generator is actually a generator is because it is using fuel to run a motor which is actually generating. That's the word. It is actually 'generating' a large amount of power on the spot via the gas powered motor. All a person needs to do is bring as much fuel as they need, and they can run this generator indefinitely. I'm absolutely not saying a generator is the better choice... of course there are drawbacks; noise pollution, actual pollution, and a level of danger from fumes and the fuel involved. But it is an actual generator, while the solar panel and battery setup is just that. A device which harvests energy from the sun and stores it in a battery. There is no 'generating' happening. The generating is happening in space via the fusion reactions happening in the sun. Solar panel collect; Battery, store. Thank you. (Takes drink of water)

    • @keithfillinger3182
      @keithfillinger3182 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, it can power something while accepting a charge from solar panels. I used my C1000 to run my fridge for 4 hours to get an idea as to how long it could do it if the power went out. My fridge is a 2005 LG bottom freezer. It is far from the most efficient model out there. Anyway, it took about 25% of the battery to do that, and I was pulling about 120w when my fridge cycled on. You would probably need about 300 to 400w of solar panels to charge this up while using it. Solar panels will not put out their full claimed rating of power. For example, a 200w panel might only put out about 175w of power in ideal conditions. Having the extra wattage also means you can get more capacity when conditions are not ideal. You will probably want to input more than twice as what is used by wattage of your fridge because you cannot obviously charge with solar panels at night.

    Great video ! I Would love to see this go up against the delta 2 …honestly I’ve been using anker powerbanks for years , and for my power stations I have Ecoflow river 2 pro and delta 2 but these new anker power stations are Making me want to sell all my Ecoflow products and completely switch to anker only 😭😂

      Yeah, Ecoflow needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat pretty soon, competition is getting thick.

      Delta 2 is a solid unit unless you need the extra surge capacity. Charge time and solar not that different. Price is great on the Delta 2 also.
      What I like about my EcoFlow River 2 is you can dial in charge speeds in 50 watt increments to control fan speed. Looks like the Anker only has 2 options for input charge speed.
