Might be a naive question. Why is there no insulation to contain the heat and maintain the temperature w less wood/energy?

I think in that case you burn wood and get the temperature you need. thats it. You don't use the sauna everyday

The Cedar wood is insulating.

I would put Tyvek between the ceiling and the sheet metal on the roof for protection, but I believe the cedar and closed environment makes the heat stay.

Your correct, it's built using solid 2x6 cedar which has acts as an incredible insulation barrier. These saunas get up to 100 degree Celsius in minus -15 weather
