    Thank you SO MUCH for posting these videos!! I haven't had cable in a while so revisiting these are a real treat, and I've gotten addicted to them all over again!!
    One production question though. Is it just me or does it often seem like the music during the show, specifically the transition music between the main game play and fast mone,y often seems to be sped up and get faster and then slower and so on? I've noticed it in a number of episodes and it's super trippy!

    • @newstarcadefan
      @newstarcadefan 7 лет назад +4

      This is GSN's doing. If you have Buzzr in your area, they play it at normal speed, and also leave the mid-show fee plugs in tact. GSN speeds up shows (and they're notorious for this) to fit in commercials. The problem with that is it's quite noticable.

    H/H match update:
    ...
    ~~~Today's action:
    After the customary introductory chit-chat, we move straight to the head-to-head match which put on hold when time ran out yesterday.
    Our champion had won $500 on the audience match with Richard's suggestion (he'd called on Richard, Brett, and Patti in that order), so I imagine he'll call on Richard for the H/H as well...
    Yes, he calls on Richard, surprising no one. This is King Richard's seventh consecutive play, and he's been chosen 125 of the past 137 times. (Charles answered three of the remaining questions, Fannie also took three, and Rosemary Forsyth, Nipsey Russell, Meg Bennett, Scoey Mitchell, Brett, and Trish Stewart got one each.)
    Stats: Richard has matched 77 of his 180 most recent attempts (42.8%), 60 of his last 137 attempts (43.8%), 40 of his last 87 attempts (46.0%), and 16 of his last 40 attempts (40.0%). His overall success rate is *41.9%* and this is his 658th attempt so far.
    For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 66 attempts (50.0%), and Brett has matched 29 of her 69 attempts (42.0%). Patti has matched one of her two attempts. Debralee and Edward have so far never played a head-to-head question.
    *Today's (first) H/H question: "_**_______** Forest"*
    (With the video paused of course, I sat for about two minutes, and the best I could come up with is "Rain" forest. Tropical? It doesn't sound great, but Rain is my best answer. Redwood came to me later, from the song "This Land is Your Land", but I'll stick with what I have.)
    This is one of those rare occasions when Richard doesn't start writing immediately. He looks at Patti as asking for a suggestion or inspiration. His expression is one of uncertainty as he stares at his blank card. After a brief meditation, he writes his answer, taking one last look at Patti and shaking his head as he files it in the slot. Ding.
    The champion has a totally different thought. "Sherwood," he says, receiving a warm round of applause. I hadn't thought of that, but it sounds good. Well, it's all in Richard's hands (or rather, on his card) now.
    Wow, I have to hand it to Richard, this is the second day in a row that he scored what I consider a difficult match: "Sherwood" Forest!
    Richard scores his 276th H/H match today.
    ~~~
    Well, it was Richard's turn to play the "villainess" once again, with his "Ham" sending our champion packing. (Patti's answer matched the contestant, but it was too little, too late.) But he won $5,600, so it was a profitable one-game reign.
    *Today's audience match question: "Monster________"*
    (My thoughts: Mash, Movie, -'s Ball*) *Besides being a 2001 movie, "Monster's Ball" is an old term for a condemned man's last meal.
    The celebs: Richard (Rally), Charles (Movie), Brett (Kit)
    The choice: Movie
    The answers: Rally, Movie, Mash
    Our new champion starts off with a $250 win thanks to Charles's suggestion, which was the best the panel offered today. Still, I'm inclined to think she'll go with Richard for the H/H.
    Yes, this is now King Richard's eighth consecutive play, and he's been chosen 126 of the past 138 times. (Charles answered three of the remaining questions, Fannie also took three, and Rosemary Forsyth, Nipsey Russell, Meg Bennett, Scoey Mitchell, Brett, and Trish Stewart got one each.)
    Stats: Richard has matched 78 of his 181 most recent attempts (43.1%), 61 of his last 138 attempts (44.2%), 41 of his last 88 attempts (46.6%), and 17 of his last 41 attempts (41.5%). His overall success rate is *41.9%* and this is his 659th attempt so far.
    I haven't done the math yet, but I believe that a match here will put Richard ahead of Brett on the leader board again in terms of accuracy, but it's going to be close...
    For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 66 attempts (50.0%), and Brett has matched 29 of her 69 attempts (42.0%). Patti has matched one of her two attempts. Debralee and Edward have so far never played a head-to-head question.
    *Today's (second) H/H question: "_**_______** Smile"*
    (Huh. Nothing jumps out at me. Colgate Smile? Have a Coke and a smile? Confident smile? Smug smile? Winning smile? Toothy smile? I'll just sit this one out.)
    Once again, Richard doesn't seem to have an immediate inspiration. He seems to be soliciting feedback from Patti regarding his answer. He looks toward Debralee and scratches his head. He files his card.
    The champion doesn't sound confident when she answers "Happy" smile. It's as good as any answer I came up with... The audience offers the most anemic round of applause I've heard in a long while.
    Wow, I have to hand it to Richard, this was really his day! Another tough match! - "Happy" smile!
    Richard scores his 277th H/H match today.
    *And yes, Richard pulls ahead of Brett by the slimmest of margins!* (42.03338% vs 42.02898%)
    This also marks the first time since episode 777 that Richard has scored two H/H matches in one show. Here's a list of celebs who have done it, listed in order of the first episode they achieved a double H/H match. Unfortunately, I didn't start noting this achievement until episode 111, so it's possible there was an instance prior to episode 111...
    Charles scored 2 H/H matches in episode 111.
    Jo Ann Pflug scored 2 H/H matches in episode 148.
    Richard scored 2 H/H matches in episode 193, 218, 622, 654, 757, 777, 1002.
    Fannie scored 2 H/H matches in episode 332.
    Gary scored 2 H/H matches in episode 412.
    ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    TIE: Charles - 50.0% (33 wins in 66 attempts).
    TIE: Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts).
    Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Richard - 42.0% (277 wins in 659 attempts). --42.03338%
    Brett - 42.0% (29 wins in 69 attempts). --42.02898%
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1002, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. Additionally, these stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969.
As a German I want you to know, that most of the Germans were no Nazis. And even Austrians were Nazis. And that's 80 years ago.
