    I think the character on the nib is "帝", which means "emperor" or "sagely king".

    What a beautiful pen! I agree, the sleek minimalist look is fantastic. DParker, I do miss being able to test out all of your fabulous pens. Keep putting out these fantastic reviews! I enjoy them greatly.

    Still photos really show the lacquer. Video doesn't do it justice. Interesting eyedropper fill, kinda vintage. Thanks for the excellent video.

    Thank you David. What an exquisite piece of art in the form of a fountain pen. I love your description of the urushi process, very educational indeed..Cheers..

    I have a Genkai in the same color, and by coincidence I also chose the BB Piano Mahogany ink for it. Perfect match. Thanks for the nice review.

    Thank you David for this review. What is Nib length? Is it longer than pilot #30 nib on Pilot Custom Urushi ( 27.5mm long )? If would help if you mention nib length in your reviews, especially for large #8 sized nibs.

    David, you can unscrew the end a half a turn to open up the stopper and keep it there through your writing session. This will keep the feed constantly inked. No need to keep opening and closing the end.

    • @FigbootonPens
      @FigbootonPens  8 лет назад +2

      Yah...I could have mentioned that. For some reason, I just like keeping the end closed while writing. I'm that way with my Vac700 as well.

    A lovely pen, and agree that the signature should be more visible in use.
    Every time I see you scoop up a handful of expensive pens and rub them together I literally cringe. I wouldn't even do that with cheap pens, but that's just me.

    Hi David I have been looking for one of these for a while, could u tell me where did u get it on sale? I see a special edition one currently at Pensachi for 2500 USDvit has a nicer urushi paint box and a pen rest but I just don’t think it justify the price especially given how much u paid for it

      It was purchased through Chatterly Luxuries.

    Hi thanks for sharing your pen experience with us! I have a namiki emperor urushi and am interested in the Taccia Kimono pen wrap. Any links to buy one to be shipped to Hong Kong?

    I have the Densho, which has started to have flow problems. I thought the blindcap had to be left unscrewed a bit while writing. I was going off of instructions on the Danitrio website.

    • @FigbootonPens
      @FigbootonPens  8 лет назад

      You can do either. For shorter writing, I have found mine works just fine closed, but for longer sessions I have needed to have it open for better ink/air flow.

    Awesome review! I wonder what is your profession as I noticed your writing style is very special yet attractive.

    Oh my! A stunning pen! Congratulations on being the owner. A question...you stated you have moved to larger pens for the most part in your Stargazer review. As someone who is developing arthritis in their fingers (yeah, the curse of hitting my 60s) I am looking at larger pens. But I'm having a hard time finding a well put together list. I find a mention here or there, but no one has made a great list. Could you list what large and oversize pens you have or would recommend? Again, great review, and hope to see you at the Triangle pen show sometime.

    • @FigbootonPens
      @FigbootonPens  8 лет назад

      It would really depend on your price range. What range are you looking at? If you live in the Triangle area, you should join us at the Triangle Pen Club. We meet once a month at the Chapel Hill library. We have a meeting tomorrow (Nov 6) at 2pm.

    • @polksie
      @polksie 8 лет назад

      My price range can be all over the ranges. The price can vary from $50 to $1,500. I don't live in the Triangle but my daughter does and I visit often.

    • @FigbootonPens
      @FigbootonPens  8 лет назад

      That is quite the range. Delta has a number of oversized models with very large sections. You might wan to check out custom pen makers like Shawn Newton. He does some great work and can make a pen of virtually any size for you.

    The craftsmanship is fantastic. I do wonder where we get to a point where a pen is simply too large, I realize it's all a matter of personal opinion but this seems to get pretty close to the point of resembling a baseball bat more than a fountain pen. The size becomes an issue for me when the pen can't be reasonably used in everyday activity but I suppose as a desk pen and a piece of art this would be perfect to show off.
    I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the topic, I think this pen is a bit of a different story because it is truly an artists canvas, but I find so many pens these days are simply ridiculously large. Once we start pushing past the M1000 size I tend to doubt the practicality of a writing instrument.

    • @FigbootonPens
      @FigbootonPens  8 лет назад +1

      I think it really depends on the individual pen. I used to think a M800 was large and a M1000 was HUGE...now I have pens I love that tower over the M1000 that don't seem that large to me. That being said, I have some very small pens I love as well. You might just be seeing a review of one very soon...

    The Genkai is a pen that I would love to own, but, I have to save up, maybe sell off a few MB 149 pens to be able to afford it. Thanks for your wonderful review.

      It was just water with a drop of the Piano Mahogany ink, so you could actually see the level. But you're right...it did look a bit odd. :-)
