I think that, rather than trying to do the Herbcrafter’s study in the way you want to, I think you should use it by adding it on the periphery of other readings. One of my favorites was to do large readings, then shuffle and pull one from Herbcrafter’s as the “medicine” for the whole thing, or a summation of the reading. It always amazed me with how well that worked. Then, if you end up being curious about a plant medicine beyond the one page entry in the little book, look up its materia medica, and look for basic recipes as to how you can work with it.
The Herbcrafter's Tarot is such a gem. An extremely affordable one too. I don't use it to study herbs/plants, but more for ancestor/family work (in my case). Hold on to it, it's great for people who work with tarot more numerically/elementally 🖤
This is the only Tarot deck I use! I am a clinical and folk herbalist and gardening nerd so the plants really speak to me. But I love all the things in the illustrations, they make me never want to stop using this deck. I personally see a lot of ancestor and soul healing within it, as well as ritual and spiritual practice suggestions.
The way I squealed when you said UJT was your Inner Child deck and like I know I know that already but it just makes me damn giddy every time. 🤣🥰 I LOVE Dreamgate Oracle - and I loved how it looked with the Anatomy deck!
Thank you for sharing this glimpse into your process. For me, I've seen my practice change and shift for 25 years already, when "what is old is new again" so that, now that I'm in my 60s and looking into another (hopefully) 10-20 years, I don't 'declutter' at all (and actually am working on a blog post about the negatives of various forms decluttering over the long-term). Nope. If I was forced to downsize our home for some reason, then maybe I would curate my 300-deck collection as well as my 3000-book library but since we've no intention of doing that, I'm happy to keep what I have and enjoy the luxury of revisiting archived materials later. :) But that's just me! LOL Sending you blessings through YOUR journey.
That is a very good point! I think mine is more of a need for better organization… if I could actually put stuff away properly I probably wouldn’t feel as overwhelmed by the amount. 😁
I always love a deck go through video. The Herbcrafters is a deck I love to go to to enter a place a space of utter healing and well being. Sometime I just go through the cards and choose a place I want to inhabit today or this week I literally enter that space and dwell awhile.
my (maybe) unpopular opinion: i would not want to practice with a deck that has ai-generated art (i’m sure we’ll have more and more of them in the future) bc the selling point of a deck for me is how much time & energy has been put into it by the authors & artists
Ai may get better someday, but right now it just seems to steal too much. Especially, I think, in the writing community. Working with it as just a tool may be a just a jumping off place and a different story, but complete Ai, no thank you. So far everything I've seen looks soulless and feels empty.
@@lacmalince1652 yup & even if the writers are using it for correction and grammar check, i'd rather see very humane errors and faults instead of the same soulless robotic vibe everywhere
My (also probably unpopular opinion) is that there’s a huge difference between using it as an artists tool and using it as the only medium. I personally know some artists who use it similarly to other manipulation tools such as photoshop, feeding it their own art. Like most new tools we have a long way to go with it (and unfortunately there will always be people who will exploit it.) As an artist and creator myself, I’m curious to see where it goes from here.
Ai is art theft and now I've seen programmes where ai is providing free online tarot and astro readings. A lot of folk are going to be put out of business by those normalising it as "just a tool". I only purchase decks created by authentic artists.
@tamsin6455 programs offering tarot readings have been around for a very long time and it’s not specifically an AI thing. 15 years ago I worked for a company that offered tarot readings that were computer generated. There were programmers behind the product, but no actual tarot readers. Modern day phone apps do the same thing. That was probably the precursor to what we now see as AI.
The Herbcrafter’s is the one and only Tarot deck I use, when I find a deck I like I stick with it. I did RWS for like 20 years straight! Then I was Lenormand solely, now I’m Herbcrafters. and although I’m an herbalist I find that 80% of the time the scene of the cards give me the meaning much more than the plants do. And there’s so much detail in the illustrations to tell the story. I actually don’t love the book and the meanings they give, probably because I have my own associations with the herbs. Like the Wild Cherry card is about being prepared and working on fulfilling your plans. The Turmeric is about making a lasting impression because of the dyed clothes hanging in the background. Anyways, I don’t think you need to know anything about the plants or feel pressured to or feel like you are missing out if you don’t :) but if it’s not your thing that’s okay too
I have the Akashic tarot too and also disappointed that it’s not a full tarot deck. I am going to mod mine because I saw another creator who has done it and I loved it.
I keep not using my Herbcrafters but when I pull it out to give it away I start flipping through it and think it's so beautiful that I vow to make it work. And then it sits until the next time I pull it out to give it away...
I remember you modified one of Danielle Noel’s deck. I’m not sure if you still have those cards but you can always modify the Dreamgate Oracle to match those cards and build out the diy Oracle.
Funny, the dreamgate oracle feels like a winter deck to me rather than spring. I'm not rally into portal 'stuff', but I must say this particular one was interesting to look at.
I have the Energy Archeology working as a bonded pair with the Fifth Spirit Tarot. They compliment each other so nicely and I get such amazing readings from them together.
Maybe in the way you are trying to force using the Herb Crafters Tarot is not how it wants to be used? Maybe spending time in the garden or before working in the garden and pulling a card could be a leisurely way of working with it?
Due to my allergies I can’t actually work in the garden, so I was hoping maybe this deck would give me those vibes in place of that. But maybe I could approach it like I would working in a garden, that might be fun!
Hi Dawn, please Don't give up on The Herbcrafter's- the secret of it is, you don't have to know ANYTHING about the actual plants in order to read it. You need to just observe how things on each card interact with each other, how does it make you feel, the colours, correlation to chakras, numerology etc. I have done a series on it called Under the Magnifying Glass if you'd like to check it out which I organised numerologically. It is SO MUCH MORE than plants that are shown on the cards. 🌿🌟🌸
When you were talking about the Energy Archaeology Oracle, it made me wonder if you have any other decks that work in the body/chronic illness sphere. Not for anything actually medical, but connecting with the body and dealing with chronic illness on a psychological/mental/spiritual level. Would love to see a video on this topic, if it appeals to you!
I would so love to see that as well! Great suggestion. I've been reading a book, I think it's called The Body Keeps the Score. It's been somewhere between comforting and helpful. It's worth the read.
That’s a great question…I’d be interested in that type of thing too. I just looked up that oracle deck and it is something I’ve wanted for a long time - an anatomy or bone deck for embodiment or somatic work. I’m so glad you mentioned it :)
While you were showing the Fairies oracle, I was just reading the titles or keywords. Yes! I think it would pair excellently with Good Omens. I have been disturbed and devastated by everything coming out about Neil Gaiman and not sure I can keep reading with Good Omens, but I think I'll look for that Fairies Oracle anyway and see how I feel about it somewhere down the road. I'm not really decluttering, though I do have a box of decks I kind of want gone. I am actively trying to only get between 6 and 12 new decks a year. I may have to skip watching you though, you just talked me into 2!😂 I can't wait for the Unicorn deck to come out, I do aittle happy dance everytime there is an update. It's getting close!
Dreamgate isn't a portal energy deck for me instead it's dreamwork/unconscious mind energy. For instance if I'm asking about a topic i will use it to represent how my unconscious mind feels about the topic. If you do dig into the guidebook she has some specific ideas of how this deck could be used. I personally don't do much dreamwork but this deck is really designed to support that.
I have no Danielle Noelle decks, but Dreamgate is tem0ting me. I have Gateway of Light Activation and the art is lovely, but I don't feel drawn to it much. When I do I really only work with a single card from this deck because more than that gets too overwhelming with all the keywords. With a single card, I appreciate that same aspect.
Hello, loving the look of Danielle's deck! I'm very tempted 😅 Do you have any videos on how you work with portal energy? I feel like that's maybe something I want to start, but I also don't think I even know where to begin 🙈 if anyone has any experience they are happy to share, I would appreciate the inspo ❤️
I have a member video on it but I don’t think I’ve talked about it specifically publicly. I did touch on when I shared the Gateway of Light deck as that’s the main deck I use for that practice. That video might be helpful. 🥰
It's so hard for me to let go of decks. 😂 Have you ever tried Jovials Brown Rice Pasta? You can't really tell the difference. I love the guild book of the Dreamgate oracle, I love it in general. Now I want the gateway of light.😂💓
@@DawnMichelleTarot Oh you must try it! It cooks a little different in that you don't want it al dente. Do what its says and if it's cooked too much try a minute less the next time. You will be stoked! 😁

I love this idea! 🙏🏼
I've been looking for an inner child deck for awhile, and Great Outdoors Tarot just shot to the top of my list.

I love these because they either convince me on buying or deter me haha

I would totally see it as a winter deck with those colors! Hmm, food for thought. 🥰
