I got the Garmin tactic 7 pro ballistic as well. Do you think its the best smart watch for a SHTF scenario? Or backpacking for several weeks or months at a time. What do you think of the marq series?
@@AFGixxeR88 The Delta has a color screen, but no touch screen. I myself have the Bravo, and I'm very tempted to get a newer version of the Tactix myself.
@@Damian_EssThe screen is a very intentional choice. They do sell the Epix which is an AMOLED version of the Fenix 7 watch, the watch that the Tactix 7 is based off of. If you compare battery life of the Fenix vs the Epix, even in the new pro models where they managed to optimize the Epix a bit better, the Fenix blows the Epix out of the water despite basically being the same watch other than screen especially once you turn on always on displayon the Epix, which is just the default for the Fenix. The MiP Transflective display may not be the prettiest, but it's direct sunlight readability and low power consumption translates to a watch with an always on display that runs for weeks on an approximately 500mah battery. My Fenix 6x Pro runs for 22 days, or 40+ hours when connected to a GPS, that's very important if you spend multiple hours or days off-grid, even recreationally. That means when your phone dies after a day or two you still have a reliable GPS device strapped to your wrist that can get you out if you ever get lost while backpacking, hunting or in the case of this channel, out on a mission. If I'm at all honest, I prefer the way it looks anyway, my whole job is staring at screens and I don't really want to look at one on my wrist. My suggestion is if you are not active police or military you probably won't have much use for the military specific features of the Tactix, not access to military or police discounts, and that the cheaper Fenix will probably more than cover your needs since it shares a lot of the same functions as the Tactix.

Ive had my Tactix charlie since 2019. Had it recently covered under warranty. Garmin stands by their products and im a lifelong Garmin user now. I dont really use the watch to it potential though. The NVG mode is nice for when im flying at night, so i dont blume out my goggles.
100 meters? I'm hoping that it was just a lemon that I got. I had bought the Garmin Tactix Delta Solar with Ballistic. I love the watch. It does everything it says. GPS is great. Navigation is great. Tracking is great. Ballistic is accurate to 1/2 MOA. Fitness is great. It's a great watch. But for those military guys who are involved in maritime assignments....be cautioned. I was in SE Asia doing some diving. Now Garmin says do not dive with this watch, but it is rated for 100 meters. Anyway, during our relaxation time we were doing some snorkling. That quickly became challenges to how far someone could free dive. So...I hit about 75 feet (far less than 100 meters) four different times. When I went to take off the watch to put on dive computers...I noticed it was dead. I thought the charge had died, but it is solar and I have never run out of charge. So....my worst fear came true. It was dead. As far as charging it with solar.... It will do that. I typically put the watch in battery saving mode when I charge in bright sunlight, but it will charge fairly well when you minimize the watch functions. I would just be careful if you're involved in maritime operations. The watch may let you down if you come out of the water and it's dead weight. I will say Garmin replaced it without question. I'm wearing it now, but I'll never take it into water deeper than 20 feet.

Had this watch in the Ballistic Solar. Loved it! Never put a scratch on it so much so that it looked brand new. All past tense because it died. It’s rated for 300 meters of water. I did a few free dives while swimming in the ocean (not SCUBA diving) to about 70 feet…not even 25 meters…and it simply had a black screen by the return of the fourth dive. Thoughts crossed my mind if a NAVY SEAL had to rely on this equipment given it was the ballistic version. Or the ARMY Combat Dive Unit. Well at least Garmin Customer Service was easy even though I called from half way around the world. Sent the unit back to the US with my son and another (hopefully new unit) is already on the way. Love this Garmin, but will never free dive with it again. Just worried for that operator who might rely on its’ performance coming out of the deep water insertion.
Any wrist watch rated at 30 Bar or 300m should at least reach 30meters depth while scuba diving and this is the average depth. This is all info I nedeed. No Garmin for me as I considered buying one.
