This is an awesome song, with THE BEST trombone solo ever!!! Thank you Carlos and Jeff Cressman. I just wish I could find this on CD, DVD, digital download, whatever. This seriously needs to be out there.
TThis song is about caring more about others then yourself and loving them and helping them in whatever way one can. Thus "Shine your light on the world", Do the best that you can with what you have.
This is really awesome! mr. Carlos and the Santana Band you always ad some more when you play a cover(this is from Mos Def originally). Because you always make it your own, by adding special things, like for instance the great solo of Jeff Cressman on the trombone and Benny Rietveld, Dennis and Raul who give this song this great drive and rhytm groove. Welldone! Greetings from Emile Luhulima -(The Netherlands)
I edited and supervised post on this show - really glad to see it posted here since I obviously coudn't post it myself! I very magic week in my studio in Van Nuys :)
Jeff Cressman is really getting some space in this one .. he is briliant, superb, awesome ... it really shows that Carlos Santana understands to pick the right people ...
@dftknight Thanks, aware of that....it just happened that the day I was listening /watching that vid was on the day of the Egyptian liberation early 2011. Song just fit really well with the sociological happenings. ;=) Cheers.
@ramses1401 "Shine your light on the world... Shine your light for the world to see." I take that as a reference to the "historic liberation of the Egyptian people out from under Mubarek" through their valiant and largely peaceful protest these past weeks. Just my take... Makes sense to me anyhow. ;=)
Awesome... That trombone dude killed it!

Only Carlos could cover Mos Def so eloquently and soulfully

unfortunately several personel changes with recent line up..raul rekow and dennis chambers are gone..the new band sounds no where as tight as this ..
Exactly and Tony lindsay, Chester Thompson, Jeff Cressman, Bill Ortiz also left the group . its a pity !!
@ILLDEFF1 done originally by mos def..but honestly this version blows away original..hands down..:)
I wish I could have seen War cover this, as well.
Jaco pastorius groove in the breakdown
@ramses1401 Great music! I have a question, this song is a cover of mos def, or mos def cover on this?
1 dislike. Why??
