  • Can island life get any better? Shannon and I chill out in this laid-back snorkeling and scuba guide. We provide some fairly detailed tips for snorkeling at Flamenco, Playa Carlos Rosario, and Tamarindo beaches. We tell you the best scuba shop to dive with and show a lot of great underwater footage. Turtles, Rays...and even some octopuses. We also show some other good snorkeling spots like Cayo Luis Pena, Melones, Punta del Soldado, Tamarindo Grande, Playa Zoni, and Culebrita. And of course we find some local cats and eat some good food!

      I know it was a little long, but kinda how it felt there. Just taking it easy, but also wanted to add some useful info. Thanks for watching!

    one of the best things in Culebra is that you can access some excellent reef right from shore and via snorkeling. Snorkeling trips are great but not required to enjoy stellar experience.

      Agreed! We chose Culebra for all the easily accessible snorkeling spots. A lot of other places we go to we have to take a boat and it ends up costing way more over the course of a week. Plus you have to be on their schedule. I don't think we have ever seen so many spots you can get to right off shore. You won't need a boat, but I do recommend a vehicle to get to the spots. Preferably a Jeep.

    I lived on Culebra in early 19'60's.
    My Father & I built a place we named Villa Boheme. 🎧 🇵🇷

      That's great! What an awesome little place to build a Villa. The longer it's been since I've been there the more I miss it for sure. Normally our travels are so busy we don't get to relax, but we had fun AND relaxation in Culebra.

      Villa Boheme, as in the lodge along the inner bay near town? I have stayed there!

    snorkeling at Flamenco is best for practice only. There are many good spots, but some hard to reach. Carlos Rosario well worth the effort. going via boat opens lots of possibilities but not required.

      Yeah go to Flamenco to sit on the beach or swim. Beautiful beach! Not much snorkeling that is easy to get to as far as we could tell. Plus, Carlos Rosario and Tamarindo aren't too far away and both have amazing snorkeling. Good call on the boat...we like to do things ourselves, but we did see a lot of people arriving on snorkeling tours while we were in Carlos Rosario so that is an option.

      Hey, good to hear from you. Yeah, Culebra is a nice little paradise. Also a great place to snorkel and that can actually be hard to find. A lot of places you will need boats or at least need to travel far by car. Culebra has a lot of spots in a small area and most are right off shore. Snorkeling is a wonderful and usually free activity after you buy some gear.

      I always love turtles, but that octopus was AMAZING! I imagine people are sick of seeing it already and I have one more video with much more footage of it :) The next batch of videos will be (or should be) from some of the more unique places in Florida. We do quite a bit of snorkeling and other activities there. Take care man!

    What's the name of the tour company you went scuba diving with? Didn't quite catch the name

      We went with Culebra Divers and they were great! We have dove with tons of companies over the years and these guys rank at or near the top. Which is good since there are not a lot of options on that tiny, awesome island. Here is their website: culebradivers.com. Have fun in Culebra! Make sure to check out our other snorkeling videos if you haven't already. The snorkeling was as good as the diving.

      @@ChrisChrisman Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately culebra divers are booked completely on the day we plan to visit. We might have to choose a different one. I had one more question is it walkable distance from Tamarindo to Flamenco beach?

    • @ChrisChrisman
      @ChrisChrisman  Год назад +1

      Feel free to ask any questions. Flamenco to Tamarindo (not Tamarindo Grande) was about 1.5 to 2 miles if I remember correctly. The roads don't have shoulders there, but anyone passing by in a car would be going slow. It would be quite the walk, but doable as long as you aren't carrying too much. You might look into renting some bicycles. But definitely go to Tamarindo. It was absolutely fantastic! Keep your eyes peeled for octopus.
