thank you for sharing, I am Betty Lynne, and live near the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, Texas. It's been a journey to bring the "art quilt" to the level of fine wall art, freeing the quilt form the bed as the only display. Your art quilt conversation makes my heart sing.

Since I have just recently discovered , and subscribed to, your channel, I appreciate this introduction video.
I am 55 years old, but only began quilting a little over 3 years ago, when I inherited my mom's sewing machine.
I am somewhat self-taught, having learned quilting only through blogs and videos on RUclips.
I am finding that quilting is truly fulfilling a dream that I didn't realize I had. That may sound strange, but it's true nonetheless.
I also have found that the normal types of quilts (multiple, same-sized blocks of the same design) truly bore me. They do not inspire me at all. I also do not like visually busy quilts.
Oddly, my favorite traditional quilt that I love to make is the 1-inch finished postage stamp quilt. And I do not like to make it in the modern way, but totally scrappy.... 1 1/2" block sewn to 1 1/2" block. 😂 Yes, it's time consuming, but the process and the finished product makes it worth it to me.
So, as far as what I'm looking for in your future videos would be inspiration to do things that are not the norm. I love to make unusual, beautiful, and comforting quilts.
I don't feel like my style really fits into a particular genre. My style is neither truly vintage nor modern (although I like some things out of both).
I've truly enjoyed the few vidoes of yours that I have seen so far, and look forward to learning from you. 😊 ~Katrina
@@smiley_kat thank you for your comment. I agree with you that some quilt block piecing can get tedious but I sometimes do enjoy not having to pay that much attention what I am creating and binge a show on TV.

Beautiful quilt. My sister and I have been making beach scene quilts for relatives summer days. We also do traditional quilts and panel quilts.😊

Hi TJ. I first say your how to iron strips. In all my years of sewing and quilting I have not seen the tip with the metal ruler. Now I need to head to my local hardware or autopro store.
I've been sewing since a child. Continued throughout the years, clothes, doll clothes, quilts, art quilts, costumes for school plays, really anything sewing. I think I have tried alot of techniques. Right now I am not art quilting so much. I don't know what to do with them. Right now I quilt for gifts, charity and I really like improv. I think I just love to learn. I taught dying fabric and eco printing for awhile but it is hard on my back. So I just do for me and sometimes for friends. I appreciate your kindness and inclusion. While most quilters are very kind I do find that some have to be right or incharge. In my early 60's and I just want to enjoy making and creating. I have time now to do so. Looking forward to your channel.

It's great to meet you. I'm Kathy from Atlanta. I started making quilts with my own designs back around 2000-2004 because there was no one around to teach me. Then for many years I made other people's patterns but I want to move back to making my own. I make a lot of donation quilts for my doctor to give her homebound and hospice patients and I think it would be fun to give them something special and unique. I look forward to seeing what you do with HSTs since I can't make them. Seriously. No matter what method, or what trimming ruler, they just don't come out right. So none of my quilts have ever had triangles in them. LOL

Such a lovely introduction. Here's my takeaway: you were a master colorist; you don't see much fabric reflected in what you like to do. Have you considered exploring custom fabric dying? It strikes me as a great intersect for your career and your quilting interests.

@@tjwrightquilts No, I don't. It just struck me that with your proclivities, you could really customize you quilt layouts with HST's with dynamic colorways.
Hi Kate from Michigan. I make TONS of quilt tops, but never seem to finish many😂. I hate doing the layering and quilting, but I love piecing and binding. Yup, I love binding. I've been quilting off and on for 10 years and I have 3 grown sons, 3 grand babies, and a 4th on the way! I'd like to learn how to just improv quilt, and remember to take pics of the ones I make.
@nursekate6772 Quilting decisions are so hard to make for sure. I will definitely admit to having several...... quilt tops that need to be quilted, so you're not alone there. What about trying another way of layering that is more satisfying, or you could always have a longarmer do
