Sorry to hear about that problem, and I agree, that shouldn't happen. Hopefully they have fixed your issue by now. I've had my Iron Bull for a couple years now and I love it. However, it isn't a tilt deck. I'm actually looking to upgrade to a deck over tilt Iron Bull and will definitely see what they've done to solve this issue, thanks for the heads-up. I hope they made it right for you.

FWIW my similar configuration 16+6 Tilt BIGTEX (2020) is doing great. Used to move 9k everyday. Grease-able everywhere. Not a single build issue or problem. YMMV. Roll safe.

it's crazy because I have a kaufman trailer that is/was gravity tilt. as I wander it I noticed the hing set up was broken on the passengers side. it uses a pin just like that one welded from the outside behind the tire. then there a tube that the p8ns sit it that's a one piece that goes across the whole width of the bottom the trailer with 4 inch long pieced of angle iron on each side of the tube that tie the deck to the Pivot Point and there is no grease fitting whatsoever come to find out the passenger side seized up and broke the pieces of angle iron brighten the bends of them I've sensory welded them and heated the s*** out of that pivot point trying to break all the stuff loose and it has not worked at all so now I'm going to buy aftermarket hinges offline and replace them with ones that are greasable I expected a lot better from Kaufman even though I bought the trailer used trailer used

There should also be a bushing for that pin to ride in instead of being allowed to just wallow out the hole. This, I suspect, is the main reason for the pins breaking off as that hinge is allowed to rattle and move about the pin. . If you are keeping the trailer, I would add some greaseable bushings and weld them from both sides. Maybe even thicken that hinge plate as well.

Glad I could save someone a headache. The idea of the trailer is fantastic. Build quality is garbage. I’d definitely look at other brands. Thanks for watching.

@@bruedtv Just got back from the big city. I did look at them more closely. Junk. Some welds looked cold. I looked underneath and was not pleased. I ordered a Donahue after talking to a friend who owns a weld shop. Thanks again.

I see exactly what you're saying, it shouldn't be welded to begin with, I'm here because I was considering an iron bull.

    • @bruedtv

Shouldn’t be welded at all no. Should have a replaceable sleeve that can get greased and the pin the top deck pivots on should also be removable and bolted on. If I can prevent a headache for someone else I’m happy haha. I’d definitely look at other options. Thanks for that comment

Mine has had issues tearing axle fell off a month after. The rear with the max ramps drags EVERYWHERE. Welds are cracking. The deck on max ramps welds have broke. The ramps weigh like 10,000 lbs I had to add a spring to make them manageable. They are junk

Sorry to hear that.. your right, they should never come out. Well, with this video and you going back to them, they should redesign it and figure it out.
What if you weld a plate to one side of the pin and then have holes to bolt it some how instead of welding it?
    Would there be clearance?
Keep the bolt heads in the pin side and nut where the plate is..
    Just throwing ideas..
A pin threaded on both ends with castle nuts and cotter pin..

Sorry its hard to hear you on some parts of the video. But I liked that you showed the defect; people could see it wasn't just you being prejudice. You actually showed the problem.

So how about the rest of the trailer? I'm looking at buying one, but it's not going to be a tilt-deck. They do look well built for their price point from what I have seen. Again, I'm looking at a traditional equipment trailer with ramps...not a tilt-deck.

Do some research on them and read other people’s reviews. Wish we had. We also thought they were well built. My opinion I would go for another brand.

H&H is junk as well, had half the tongue fall off on one I had because the welds broke on the pin pivot.

Wow, where are you in the country because that is a lot of rust for a trailer that’s a year old, just asking because I’m in South Texas and my truck is at 07 with like one percent surface rust on the whole truck still going strong.

When you drive with a tilt trailer how do you know that the tilt won't activate while pulling it and get you in a wreck? And can tilt trailers be modded or changed to permanently lock the tilt from opening?

    • @bruedtv
      @bruedtv  6 месяцев назад +1

This particular trailer has a hydraulic pump on it so you have to push a button to make it go up. A guy could drill a hole and put a pin in it if you were worried about it.
gravity tilt trailers do have a pin that lock them

A lot of trailers are built like crap.
Even old trusted names like PJ.
I have one PJ dump. The quality is non-existent. I also have a Load Trail. I have had to re-weld a third of it.
