- The Stapleford Miniature Railway at Stapleford House near Melton Mowbray is one of the finest 10.25" gauge miniature railways in the UK, and we see the pride of the fleet, a 10.25" gauge New York Central Class S-1b Niagara 4-8-4 No. 6019 as it works over the line on 30th August 2015.
If I ever start a successful minature railroad now it would be 10.25 gauge and the nyc niagara would be my first locomotive.
This is the only surviving sample for an NYC 4-8-4
Living in Niagara Falls, N.Y. it would have been great if the mighty NYCRR had saved one of these and put it on display next to its' namesake!
No water pan scoop? I'm disappointed 😂
In all seriousness - what a beauty.
BR used to run ‘mystery tours’ in the late Seventies and we went on one from Canterbury that included a ride behind this loco (I think) then on to the GCR for a run behind a green ex industrial 0-6-0 side tank and then home. Grand day out for very little money with all bus links provided👍
It’s such a shame all the niagras were scrapped
be cool to see that open it up all the way but looks like theres not enough straight level track
They certainly gave it a good try! At least as far as the line would allow them! Steve
God she's whisper quiet.
