I admire the absolute attention to detail Japanese artists and works put into what ever it is the make. It's so inspiring to me and really makes me pay attention to the small things. Thanks for the videos.
I've been quite impressed with this technique of burning the wood surface... It produces a much more uniform effect than if done with a gas torch burner or a heat gun. The wood pattern obtained with the final roughing operation is just amazing! This is one of the RUclips channels that I find most interesting. Thank you for always sharing excellent content!
Jayne Cortez i think the trick is getting a stone whose curvature matches the curvature of the koto itself. Also stones will hold a steady temperature for longer, while a torch will keep adding temperature to the wood itself. Very clever method indeed.
Very, very interesting video but it´s way to short. There are so many steps in building this instrument that are worth showing them in more detail. Love this chanel, please keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I've never seen a japanese plane like that before. Reminds me of a roman design but made for the (superior) pull stroke. The method of burning also leaves an incredibly clean finish, I'm impressed.
Beautiful video showcasing craftsmanship of the highest degree. What is the material being used as the 'Hot Iron" for the charring treatment process? It gives it such a beautiful even finish.

Maybe it needs years of practice to be able master the evenly touch. It’s not a surprise for Asian craft masters
@@rottenmilk3954 It isn't a stone, it's iron--a salamander, similar to the kitchen tool.

please explain why you need a zig-zag pattern inside a musical instrument?
楽器の中にジグザグパターンが必要な理由を説明してください。
