I have a STR V5. Sonys didn't get the notoriety or attention the other brands received, but, when they wanted to, Sony could definitely build great equipment. The V5 is heavy, solid and physically large. The 85 watts per channel seems to be very under-rated as well.
I have a SX-1250 too, and recently acquired some HPM-100's. . . I must say, it's really nice (I use it as my PC speakers, I'm listening to it right now). Reason why I'm watching your video is because of my old speakers (Sony APM-790). I'm trying to do some research on what originally they were meant to be paired with from the Sony lineup and somebody in the forms mentioned this series receiver. Personally I'm not convinced. The Sony STR-V series seems way too nice for Sony to pair it with APM-790's. . .
I appreciate your comments! Those AMP-790's are sure odd looking speakers. Sony had a tendancy to be ahead of the curve in many respects; However, I cannot comment on this Accurate Pistonic Motion speakers (APM) as I've never heard a pair yet.
Hi Nicolas, I no longer have the Sony - so, I can't comment on the relay. What relay does it currently have? Many of these old Omron's are becoming obsolete...
Any piece of equipment starting with the letter "S" is high risk due to cost cutting. As with a Sanyo DCA 411 I purchased, no relay what so ever, speakers must be turned-off prior to turning on otherwise 1 bad day down the road Blown speakers.

Your right - it's still a beast of a receiver!
Así es tengo un sony str v 7 y no lo cambio por ninguno es más que suficiente esta re bestia de receiver
My first receiver when I was 14 in 1976 was a Sony STR-V2. I wish I would have bought a V5 or a V7.
I own one of these. It dominates the marantz, kenwood and sansui i have in my collection
Recently, I am noticing prices climbing...
The secret must be out!
I just found and will be purchasing an STR V4. :)
Nice! Tell us what you think of it.
HI, what kind of shelf is that for your stereo needs? Looks clean.
This was a shelf that I had purchased from a store called Structube. I don't know if it's a Canadian only chain, but its worth checking.
Good times!
