You guys are living the life I want to live, and your videos have inspired me to pursue it. I started my construction business five years ago, and started watching you guys a little over a year ago. This winter I will be building my first house from beginning to end. My 13-year-old son loves to watch with me, and someday he wants to join the family business. What you guys are doing here is pretty special, and I thank you for what you do. Keep up the great work!
I simply look forward to every single video you all put out. I never thought I would be excited about home construction as I never have been but the series' that go from start to finish are enthralling! You and your crew are funny and great to watch. Since you are probably making lots from these video, I really hope you are sharing with everyone on your team.
This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.
I know it's different in every state, but can you talk a bit more about how ADUs work and what was involved in the process of getting the green light to build? I'm excited to see how this one turns out!
This is great to see such a thoughtful ADU project. I’d love to hear more from Jamie about the design process and his drawing/drafting table and tools etc.
ADU's are awesome. I live in my moms basement but in 3 weeks I move into the new ADU we had built. we did one on top of a garage, since our old garage was falling apart is was a good time to do it. Did a bunch of upgrades to the lot like a new sewer line and 200amp power with 220Volt plugs in the garage for when its time for a EV.
Yes! I love all your complete builder series houses, and still coming down off the mountain series you just finished and now we’re onto this one! Excited to see a more “urban” build and what’s involved in the design of this compared to your more retreat/cabin in the mountains type designs.
I love this channel! I was an hvac guy for 15 years now I am gearing up to start a 2 bedroom addition on my home in Virginia. I have learned a lot on this channel. Blessings.
You know Sketchup has another bit of software in its package called "Layout" which allows you to export the 3D models directly in to a 2d architectural drawing along with correct scaling etc. Much easier than hand drawing it all again.
I was wondering if it had that feature. 🤔 I figured it must. With that drafting setup, the 2-D plan drawing process might be an enjoyable creative outlet. (Like music)
I just came across this video and got to the point where he was using the skp to hand draw the plan. I was thinking the same thing. You can convert an skp file to a dwg file and it gives you the floor plans as well as the elevations. The only problem that I have found is that it's not a perfect conversion. ALL the polylines that comes into the dwg are time-consuming to get rid of. I end up locking the converted layers and "tracing" over them with my own layers.
Jamie, you touched my sole. I don’t know how many people have extended you get well wishes but here is mine. You were very fortunate you weren’t hurt any worst! Thankfully. You had some one there with you. I too have an extensive wood shop and worry all the time of shop accidents. God speed and keep up with the great videos!
I had a chuckle at the McGraw cologne bottle that was found. I'm a retired drywall finisher/plasterer, the company I worked for was named McGraw Drywall.
I built my daughter a home, I first started with a used double wide I moved myself. The double wide looked rough, but was solid. I put a steel roof on it, theN a garage, work area. then after a few years, added an addition, redone walls, plumbing, and some porches. Just under 100k. They have also worked hard on their home as well. A gorgeous home for a young couple to get started. Just takes effort, and desire.
A breakdown of money spent would be awesome to follow along. Example, "day one cost us $xxxx in dollars" cause I saw in the description your trying to keep this under $100,000. I'm super excited for this series.
GREAT EDITING! 👍 We always talk about how every video worth watching on RUclips, whether it's 30 seconds or 2 hours, has to have good editing. This channel has it figured out! Long or short videos are all done in a way that are well paced, balanced, and enjoyable to watch. Thank you for the content!
I'm impressed with Jaime's handwriting on the sketches .... gonna be back soon ... soooooo hurry up and finish it cuz i'm staying there OR Jay's new shed
G,day Perkins Builders from Sydney Australia. Retention of foundation material on site to avoid slip, erosion or transferring. Compacting each layer 3 1/2' gives more stability. Also staked hay bales etc divert: in the event of surface water!!!! 🌏🇭🇲
Hey you should post the link to the Airbnb for the other property 😃 me and my wife will book a stay to support you and the build. Oh and as always #LJT!
Just realized recently that I had been following the renovation of the main house on IG before I found this RUclips channel. Had no idea there was a connection
I like the mix of bigger projects and smaller projects you do. Definitely the way id want to work but for the past while ive usually on the bigger side of jobsites lol
I see you have one of the prosthetic/mechanical handpieces. I worked with a fellow that only had very short finger and thumb on all five of his right hand, he have one of those or has one of those handpieces. It is so amazing the things he can do and how far they have come. That Walnut tree and some good money and cut into board also one of the prettiest wood. Really enjoyed yawls videos.
Thanks, my drafting teach gave it to me when I graduated Highschool. It was busted up and falling apart so I fixed it and have been using it for 20 years:)
Actually vacationing in Bryson City right now, looking forward to a train ride tomorrow! Hope to run into yall somewhere. The rental across from Ace looks awesome!
@@jaimeperkins9606 haha I already ran into Erik the other evening and talked houses over a Burial IPA. He invited me to come check out your ADU but I know yall must get swamped with fans. We hit Haywood Smokehouse and Innovation in Dillsboro and headed home. Tell Erik the landlord from Raleigh said thanks for his time!
There are a few companies i know of in my local area that do building waste recycling. I wonder if you could do a follow up story next time you demolish a building. Where all the waste goes, and if its reclaimed, reused, recycled or just goes to the rubbish dump etc
Finally a new project!! Hope everyone enjoys and has a great afternoon 🤜🤛
Midnight from where I watch
Even Germany enjoys all of your projects! Love watching you guys. 🥰
Always!
Cant wait to see more

You all work so great together 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻

Super excited to see a small & fast new construction build! Interested to see how cost efficient you can make it
You and me both!
After binge watching the Mountain Cabin series, this is what I was looking forward to next!
It’s on now! Thanks for watching
Jamie's a beast at them drawings....... .geez..... I've never seen them done so fast its gotta be a record.😉👍🏻
Every day i find a new Perkins Builder Brothers video is a great day 😁👍

Finally. This is exactly what I was looking for. A low budget Adu priced in the smokys.

Wow! Guys I am really excited about this new series! It would be awesome if you guys showed some of the sketch up plans and process.
That microwave was like: "NOPE! You not getting rid of me that easy!" LOL! Props to the editor for starting off with that clip.

I love the amount of thought and intention Jamie put into designing this place. I learn something useful every time I watch you guys.

So excited for this series!
Thank you for sharing! Nice work on the drafting board! Please share more of that if you have some videos! You guys are inspiring!
Thanks for sharing us a new project
Excited for it to finish
What impresses me most is where you find the time to keep all the irons in the fire!
Oh there’s lots of irons…:)
Great times I had visiting the smoky mountains
Just had skin cancer removed from my head all good now, so I totally understand the Unabomber scarf.
Airbnb is a cancer that needs removed :P

Your inspiration champ, you inspire me to keep going with my RUclips videos 🤙🏼
This is awesome, I can’t wait to build one myself!
That hand axe that Allen had is most likely not a hand axe but rather an adze or a chisel, both are quite rare, good find
