Greetings from Poland. What a shame about the terrible weather. It certainly damped my spirits and I'm sitting at home watching you on my laptop! Dunrobin Castle - come on! 11GBP for house and gardens but NO DOGS? Be told!!!!! Grannie's Heilan Hame wasn't for me. Looked like camping and caravaning suberbia. The rain didn't help. The beach and Embo Pier looked fun though. Inverness, Culluden and Autoglass. An end to the NC500. A great trip. Thanks so much for taking me along See you again soon
I usually like your videos, although sometimes a bit dull but omg, what a right grumpy moaner you are! Just enjoy your freedom and beautiful Scotland. Nothing stays the same.
Love your videos. Even if Dunrobin was disappointing and the weather pretty grim, you remain cheerful. My wife and I are definitely going to get a Wee Broon Van. Probably a very old one though. Thanks Dave
Good to hear you express what I thought about when we arrived for our visit. We just kept driving through. There were 6 of us in the van n just couldn’t justify the cost.
It’s great to look back at footage from many years ago. I bet your so grateful to have this footage. Thanks again for the stickers, I received them yesterday!😊
Enjoyed that very much. Nothing wrong about having a rant about places that don’t offer great customer service. No dogs no business simples. The weather at the end was pretty miserable for sure but you both coped with it well. We fully understand the excitement of getting back home after an extended trip, the space, water, bath, showers and big comfy armchairs. A small van really makes you appreciate the comforts of home and the adventure of roaming in the van. Fingers crossed you are able to get out and about for some more films covid permitting. Stay safe 👍
Thanks Ken & Carol, comfy armchair is where I am now, bliss. But already we are missing being out and about. We enjoy having the best of both worlds, could never be a vanlifer, but full of respect for those who are.
Great series Love what you two do Started watching the first one and binged the whole trip ☺️I am sure I had things to do but they can wait. Thank you for the great videos you do 👍🏻
Poor Mike and Trish, so much rain! Hopefully, when permitted weather will get better? Enjoyed your video and the series and look forward to the next instalment. Take care for now and stay safe. Best wishes Sue, Brian and The Westies 👍🐶🐾😀
Amazing the changes to a place when you return & I agree it’s never how you remember it . Lived in Inverness many moons ago when my Dad was stationed there , happy memories 👍
I’ve really loved this little series. Just wondering if you would consider doing an updated review of your van? I know you love the wee broon van but I’m interested to know if you would change anything with it after you have put it to good use.
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot by the way I like to be side screens on the awning and you are a braver man than I leaving it up overnight - I get scared at the whiff of a breeze lol
Love your stag seat cover, may I ask where you got it.....love Skye we did last year and agree about the castle regarding no dogs ..planning to return to Skye this year, fingers crossed
Dunrobin, inside you, are not allowed to take any photos, I manage 2 before I got told off. to me, the whole place was a disappointment. another great wee video , thanks for sharing
Bomb about 5:30 and took a while to clear it all up 😉. The awning poles are pegged down and so are sides and that helps. We have just bought storm straps to anchor it down, will show them in a future vlog. Cheers.
I can understand Dunrobin castle and their policy. I also have a dog and like gardening. If you have beautifully kept grass , the last thing you need is a dog putting big yellow burn marks in it, from it's acidic urine which last many months.I don't like people doing it to me passing with their dogs on my lawn and don't do it to anybody else myself and the groundsmen at Dunrobin won't like it either on their formal gardens, after many hours caring for their lawns. A dog can hardly ' leave no trace ' even after picking up the other no 2's, which as you know being a dog owner you can't always completely ' pick up ' with loose dog bowels for instance and can never pick up the acidic urine which cause the scorch marks.
True, but I think that they could allow well behaved dogs on leads and keep off the grass signs, and the extra revenue would more than pay for the odd accident.
The owner of the castle was the Earl of Sutherland. The person responsible for all the evictions of the poor crofters, during the heartless ' clearances '. Although he was English this wasn't the cause, it was greedy rich v poor again.
As long as the weather is cool (like it obviously is in this video), can Keira not be left in the van for a bit? Long enough for you two to enjoy the castle and the grounds?
Yes thats possible but we only wanted into the grounds and couldn't do that without paying for the castle also and they could easily have sold a grounds only ticket as there is access directly into the grounds.
Birds of Prey are flying o out doing displays so obviously can’t have dogs on the same grounds, even on leads as with the best will in the world some leads will get pulled out of a hand! Btw, Scone Palace have same policy about walking the grounds, you still pay £11.
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot as a two dog family I wouldn’t expect to be allowed into their ‘Gardens’ with them. We have been before with our kids and loved the Castle and Gardens as well as the birds of prey demos. The kids loved the static caravan in the beach as well, as did the dogs! They will have good reasons to not let them in, dog poo, aggression etc. I expect they’ve been fought out before
It's so useful following your vlogs. As dog owners too, we can see places where you are allowed to take Keira and where you're not. Really think a lot of these places are missing out by banning our wee furies. Do however understand that there seems to be more irresponsible dog owners around these days. Just a shame we're all tarred with the same brush 😞
Totally agree Tina, but as you say the few irresponsible dog owners are spoiling for the rest of us. We should have checked the website first but were just passing and didnt think it would be a problem but it was so I had a fair old moan on the Vlog.
As responsible dog owners we are annoyed at irresponsible dog owners who do not pick up and dispose of their dogs droppings or leave a used bag lying about but just as annoying are what non dog owners leave about the place including used nappies etc yet no signs banning them is there !. Enjoy following your adventures we’ve already booked for Dumfriesshire late September...fingers crossed we are allowed to enter from Northumberland 😂
Sorry for delay in replying, agree it really annoys us when irresponsible dog owners do not pick up, and worse they pick up and leave the bag hanging on a tree branch which we have also seen....unbelievable.
Honestly, I understand why the castle has the rule of "no dogs". I can imagine trying to police less responsible folks that are not conscientious with their dog, there is ALWAYS folks who are going to ruin it for the people that follow the rules. Then if you have to take tickets BOTH at entry to the grounds, AND THEN AGAIN at entry to the castle .... that is a lot of checking tickets.
Understand your points, but dogs on leafs in a formal garden with heavy fines imposed should be sufficient, there will always be somebody, but they are losing a lot of income as many dog owners there were turning away in disappointment.
11quid they r taking the piss ,love what ur doing take care and enjoy yourselves that's more important, cheers guys ...ps. obviously they are not Dunrobin you
Fair comment by you.on the castle and grounds. Unfortunately there are quite a lot of dog owners who are not sensible like you and Trishsa.. If the castle is run by the National Trust then the money would be spent on daft things nothing to do with national monument welfare..
I thought the same thing, and I have to say I sympathize with the the folks who have made the decision to keep dogs out. There is always going to be irresponsible dog owners.

As usual a very enjoyable video. The van looks good in the rain setup, it means you can have the door open. 🍷🍺👍🏼🐶🐾🐶
