  • When I purchased these at $600 over a year ago, I thought I got a good deal. At $300, I'm just shocked. This could very well be one of the best bookshelf speakers you can buy under $500. In this video, I explain why!

    I have a full KEF setup: 2xQ150, Q650C, 2xQ750, and 2xQ50a
    Very happy with the sound and imaging as well as the aesthetics in white with the black grilles.
    Thanks for the review. Your channel is awesome and I look forward to your review of the Audeze Maxwells when they come out.

    Got mine paired with an old (1979) refurbed technics sa-101 receiver, technics sl-pj26 CD, very simple setup but sounds incredible and surprisingly loud for only 20W. And yeah, I also paid full price but have no regrets whatsoever 👌

    Great review I just got these speakers about a month ago I'm mostly in the home theater and I paired them with the same Center Channel as you. My front left and right are unfortunately down in a bottom cubbyhole of my entertainment center and I have them tilted up 10° with those foam pads that speakers go on. What are you crossing your center speaker over at?

    Just ordered these and I’m not sure of the amp I chose, it’s a really cheap one:
    Nobsound Mini 200 W (100 W x 2) Bluetooth 4.2 TPA3116 Digital Amplifier HiFi Stereo Class D, Power Amplifier).
    What amps are you using, guys? Thx

      If you haven't gotten an answer the is a yes but due to the lower 35 watts per channel then there will be some limits on how loud the speakers could get

    wow. I'm pretty sure I've never seen speakers with the tweeter in the center of the woofer.
    Were you recommending to put soeakers in general up against the wall (or back of shelf)?
    I've never heard of that before.
    Edit: You meant you had no choice and it still sounded good. my bad.

      Rear ported speakers (see the tube in the back in the first few seconds) usually need some space away from back walls. Like he said you can block the port, that sort of makes them a sealed enclosure. From what I'm aware of this does impact how low of a bass response you get. The port allows the speaker to get lower down. If its too close to the wall however it won't sound as good. My rear ported bookshelfs are around 40 cm away from a curtain when thats closed, if its open they have about 60cm. Sounds fine to me. But its dependant on the speakers how much room you need. (There are front ported speakers too which don't need to be in front of the wall)

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  Год назад +1

      Nice explanation @danielh12345! Spot on. I typically prefer ported because I listen at lower volumes and have some space off the wall. It really comes down to preference, but typically if they are too close to the wall, the bass boost can negatively impact sound quality. It all comes down to preference though, as many people want the extra bass.

      @@GadgetryTech Thanks! I've had to play around with mine a fair bit with distancing and position wise on my desk so did my research :D After I built the stands the sound characteristics changed a bit again (for the better). For me getting the right filter on my DAC helped with too boomy bass as well, I noticed I prefer a faster roll off.

    Better not crank these hard…had the speaker cone tear loose from two of these while being crossed over at 90 hertz to a sub…also they will only replace one time under warranty
