  • Rae Kaplan joins us to talk about an executive order that extends the One Time IDR Account Adjustment. It was set to expire on Dec. 31st, but will be extended until April 30th. You can do a federal consolidation with old loans to newer loans and they will apply maximum credit towards forgiveness, including for public sector loan forgiveness, but also if you are in the private sector.

I rather pay for my fellow American than some foreign war or pay to let illegals get more benefits than my fellow American like Biden has been. Now more than ever we need to help our fellow American because the government is too busy helping everyone else but us

The average student loan debt is $38,000. The average time it takes to payoff consumer debt is 18 to 24 months.
Get a second job. Get a side hussle. Get on it! Work! Work! Work! Sell some things! Sell that over priced car!! Sell so many things the kids think they are next!
You can payoff your debt and you will feel better about it in the long run!
Stop keeping your student loan around like its a house pet!! Get rid of it! You can do this!!!

XD That's right everybody, just have two jobs and no car! Go go go! Sell plasma! Got feet? Get some pics of those bad boys! This isn't a national crisis, it's just all of you individuals making bad individual choices like driving a vehicle and eating food with your mouth! There's nothing inherently broken in chaining 18-year-olds to $100,000 of debt at a time in their lives when they wouldn't even be able to get a $10,000 loan for a car!

So they're talking about a couple of different things here, and they never bring up in detail what they're actually talking about. Basically, if you've been in a period of forbearance or deferment previously it didn't count towards your overall time. So if you work a certain kind of job you get your loans forgiven after certain amount of time, you work a job that the government needs because we don't have enough people? Do that for 20 years and they pay your debt. Except if there's an amount of time during that 20 years, say four, five or seven that you're in forbearance that's not counting towards your 20 years of payments. They're now making all of that time part of your overall 20 years. So these people aren't getting free money, these people are working for the government in jobs that the government needs done but doesn't have sufficient people to do. Likely because they don't pay very well, they're not super desirable positions, there are many reasons that these public servant positions are less desirable. Maybe they're just not what you graduated to do, but you're going to go do it for a period because of the promise that whatever your balance is afterwards, it will be paid. Now in the past they effed a lot of people over who had worked for 20 years, it's the same as when they effed over all of those veterans who were supposed to get college scholarships? Stuff like that. And then they just didn't. They were like. Oh hey thanks for the service, oh yeah that thing we said we were going to do for you? Psych! 😂 So all of this stuff in the news where they're finding ways to honor their own commitment, but make it seem like it's student loan forgiveness? I honestly think it's marketing, propaganda, it's to make you feel good about President Biden and to make you think that he gives any kind of a shit about you and your debts. He doesn't. He's not doing anything extraordinary, the government was supposed to cover the rest of your debts if you worked for them for 20 years. That was the whole deal. That was the agreement. It's great that they're changing it to include forbearance time since a lot of people will have to go into forbearance at some point during their loan. And that shouldn't just stop your clock, because you are still working those jobs, you are still doing what the government wants you to do, but treating this like it's part of the student debt forgiveness pitch is extraordinarily disingenuous.

I received 2 thousand a quarter I wood like to know how my loan add up to 35 grand I deferred my loans for about 3 years they been taking my taxes for about 7 years .my loan is higher almost doubled. I don't see how anyone can get out of this debt. they did away with adult education at the jvs now know as ctc, gave no other choice but to go to college, then made it impossible to repay, the average person would have trouble with.

@kadidai not what I'm saying, snowflake. If you signed up for a loan, you made a promise to repay. Your example you use Doctor well they make pretty good money they can afford to pay back money they borrowed and yes from time to time i do go to the Dr office . You know what? I PAY MY BILLS. Because that's what i promised to do just like when these fkn POS deadbeats signed up for their student loans.
