For over 20 years in a row I showed this movie on the last day of school to my students. I hope they remember it...

This is a beautiful rendering of a profound story - eloquent narration, artful illustration and accompaniment. Elzeard Bouffier is an avatar for a growing legion of those who know that trees and the forests they embody are essential to the oxygen we hominins breathe and the beauty that sustains our souls as the air sustains our bodies. Humankind possess free will; we can join Giono's Elzeard in responding as co-stewards with G-d, or misuse our agency to desecrate the earth and move all life here toward entropy. Thank you for this, TreeUtah, and the Artist Sometimes Known as God.
