Nice to see you back and the FJ working again. Your looking quite healthy, good for you. Hope all is good on the Rubicon, we’re going in September now. Keep us updated. Happy Trails.
Glad to see you back sir. Fj is looking great and so are you. You look light on your feet’s and wrenching like a mad man. Can’t wait for the next video.
Congrats on the new engine going in and running strong! That first turn of the key is always the moment of truth. Hopefully, knock on wood… my 2007 won’t ever need the engine swapped! Thanks for posting!🤘😎🤘
Hey Ken. Wanted to say that your videos have been an inspiration to me! Was starting to get worried when I hadn't seen you post for a few months, and glad to see your focus has been on your shop and your family in a recent response you posted. Thanks for all the content you posted and look forward to seeing more if you do start making content again.
WOW KEN! This FJ Has seen allot of change since the big southern butte run 3 years ago! Haha. Love seeing my dinky Dakota try and make up that hill while stock ha!
I haven't seen a video in a while - since you opened up the new shop. The shop must be keeping you very busy cause you have lost a lot of weight. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your Rubicon video as I have a friend who is also heading that way in a couple of weeks to do the same thing.
I think the only other blown FJ motor I recall hearing about was a teenage girl that didn't put oil in her FJ. Congrats. You are in good company. You managed to abuse your FJ, in a way only a teenager could. 😆 On the bright side, for all us FJ owners, seems to be a pretty rare event, and now we all know why that bubble on the dash does not go to 45 degrees.
funny, thats quit common for women.. too damn busy looking good.. on the side of the road.. my sis did it, sold it to a friend, no oil,, south main auto, woman brought car in rattling,,no oil.. IT HAS A HOOD & A DAMN STIK..
Holycrap Ken you looking great! Interesting algorythm note: I haven't actually watched one of your vids in a couple years, but as soon as I typed "of" youtube autofilled offroad hub as the top hit.
Holy cow! Great video. Something similar I'm dealing with at this point. I bought a 2012 FJ Cruiser AT 4WD with 64k miles. I bought it from Copart, it's crash on the front, so, I need to change everything. I was wondering that I need to take the engine out just to check the transmission but it seems to be fine. Question, do you have any other video where you disconnect everything that I can watch or you can guide me on fixing it?
You should be checking if there are leaks on the heads to be safe and check your diff oils and see if there are and lose bolts n nuts. 🎶 I love what you for me Toyota 🎵🎤
Hi how r u doing? i have a question i have an issue with my engine fj2015 it keeps burning oil only when i drove it in long way like 600km burn 1 can the next day when i start the car smoke come from the exhaust for a few seconds than gone almost have the car for 2 years the temperature of the engine good no problems and no leak ive change a few things that might solve the problem like pcv valve also the oil filter control valve and the problem still there! any suggestions id really appreciate a help or advice and thanks alot. watching you from Saudi Arabia :)
At the military base I’m stationed at, they have an abandoned vehicle lot with a 2007 FJ but no keys and you can’t inspect it before bidding. Worst case scenario, it will need a motor. Can I swap a newer 4Runner engine like you did or will I need to find the older 4.0?
Hope you get to meet Paul & Ben and the rest of the Fab Rats and Matt and Tomtom and the rest of Matt's Off-road Recovery and Robby & Hillbilly and the rest of Robby Layton
@@offroadhub.official life definitely gets in the way.... I get it, for sure. I promise you a lot of people miss your content, but priorities definitely come first!
No. I have a 2010 FJ which came with the dual vvt, the 07-09 FJ's have single vvt, so you'd have to stick with that type of 1GR-FE. Same basic engine, different cylinder heads.
@@offroadhub.officialthanks for reply! Hey I don’t know other way of contacting you but I recently bought 07 fj , has bilstein 5100 front and 5160 in rear , fj looks a lot taller than other 3” fjs on pictures, when I lift the fj on jack and front wheels are in air they don’t freespin because axles bind up , I thought this was odd and bought limiting straps that I will probobly install, have you ever experienced this issue or maybe I have strut spacers on top of bilsteins causing bad angle on axles ? Also what axles would you recomend to buy , thanks and sorry for long question
Looking slim Ken. The Rubicon should be an excellent shake down run for the new engine.
Nice to see you back and the FJ working again. Your looking quite healthy, good for you. Hope all is good on the Rubicon, we’re going in September now. Keep us updated. Happy Trails.
Thanks Dan! I hope to see you there in September! There were a lot of Toyotas there that had planned on being at Rubithon.
Great to see you back and kicking looking better then ever and with a healthy engine replacement \_/ !!!!! Cheers can’t wait for more
Looking good, Ken. Nice to see you get the FJ rolling again.
Dude you look great! Almost didn’t recognize you lol, glad to see the FJ up and running again too

Good shit💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Currently tho long of trading in my JK wrangler for a FJ. In particularly a 2010
You'll love the FJ!

You look like you lost some weight
Indeed I have 👍👍
most capable FJ in the world. lookin fit yourself too! have you been working out?
Thanks! Mostly just changed what I eat. 👍
Purrs like a kitten. Nice job! What exhaust are you running?
Straight pipes with a tiny muffler. Jba short headers.
awesome to see the beast back! you lost weight also?

Oh yeah! 👌
I need to do this. A better engine with better gas mileage and HP if possible.
Insert Ace Ventura "ITS ALIVE!!!" gif
Very appropriate 😂
Wait... Is this Ken? 😳

Hey Ken, would you be able to get your hand on another engine like the wrecked 4runner? i need to swap my 07's soon..
I bought my replacement engine on eBay actually. I'd look there, or on car-part.com.
At the military base I’m stationed at, they have an abandoned vehicle lot with a 2007 FJ but no keys and you can’t inspect it before bidding. Worst case scenario, it will need a motor. Can I swap a newer 4Runner engine like you did or will I need to find the older 4.0?
@i_run_far1132 you'll need the older 1grfe with single vvt. I hope you get a great deal!
@@offroadhub.official thank you! I will keep you posted!
Dang, nice job, Ken! How long did it take you to do the swap?
Actual hours invested, about 18.
@@offroadhub.official thanks to the power of editing, it looks like you knocked it out in an afternoon.
How did the trip go? Were you able to get out onto the Rubicon?
Sheesh... I really need to get that video uploaded. 😬 yes it went great!

Hey how are you? Question can i use a 2007 4runner transmission in a 2007 fj cruiser? Thanks so much..
@@Mata4wd I'm not sure, must likely yes.
Whats up it's been a few weeks how are things going?
Things are solid! Sorry for my absence! 👍
What’s the conversion cost? Don’t see many straight axle Fj jobs
ruclips.net/video/AFNzGsmTXuY/видео.htmlsi=G-jVQ79e6X6jSMCH
Could a supercharger go on it now?
Yes it could, if I had an extra $7000 laying around! 😄
Did you need to change/replace the ECU for the new engine to run correctly?
No. It all works great!
Is the oil filter by pass reliable? I'm thinking of doing that on my 4.7L 4Runner as the aftermarket skid pan makes oil changes a PITA.
I haven't had any issues with the oil bypass. It's custom made, so you'd have to work with somebody to get it done.
Making it look way too easy!
So did you stop doing youtube?
It's been awhile, but I'll get back into it.
@@offroadhub.officialwell just making sure you were okay man. 7 months is a long time to take off. I thought you just up and quit
@@BuckinLifeoffroad I've been busy in the shop. I just need to figure out how to balance everything. 👍

So I can swap any year 1GR-FE on 07 fj?
No. I have a 2010 FJ which came with the dual vvt, the 07-09 FJ's have single vvt, so you'd have to stick with that type of 1GR-FE. Same basic engine, different cylinder heads.
What year is this fj
2010
