how to create Negative Space Design Tutorial in Illustrator | chaviv design

Is that really negative space because if you change the background color it won't look like negative space anymore. How do you make it so no matter the color background you still see the number or letter that is in the negative. If that makes sense

Just subtract or 'minus' the negative space using pathfinder options or the Shape Builder tool.
