It is an all ages event.
I'm excited to talk about some hot takes while eating some scorching hot wings with @king3rd
I'm a sucker for two things: Horror films that involve cults/cult like imagery. Dark detective thrillers. This is right up my alley.
Tell me about it ❤️
You watch True Detective Season 1?!!
haven’t been this hype for a movie since get out 😁
I bet you loved Prisoners. Amazing film. So is Zodiac. 👌🏼
@@guice4582Get Out was race baiting trash. Not even a horror movie. Peele is a pretentious hack.
I’m not ashamed to admit I thought this was a horror movie with spiders 😂
craigharris, youre not the only one who thought that
You aren't alone. But long legs is such a creepy name, esp. for a serial killer. I guess it means, dude can move fast. 😳
It’s not the worst. I’ve seen someone mistaking it for shaving kit ads
No, it's a horror movie FOR spiders: "Run, it's the flyswatter! Run for your life!"
I can see that

Fun fact: The Director Oz Perkins is the son of Anthony Perkins. Looking forward to seeing this one.
Fun facts, his dad was gay and his mum died in the first plane that crashed into the towers on 9.11 😮
The guy from psycho.. and remember my name, the one about the psycho ex wife lol.

The first half of the movie was so fire, but they flopped in the second half. I feel like their explanations for everything were a little shallow and I walked away pretty unsatisfied and with a lot more questions.
For those of you not familiar with Oz Perkins... Check him out. He is severely underrated. Pretty much A24's edgy nephew.
Love how you put this. I’ve seen blackcoats daughter but this comment is gonna get me to explore otherwise
You absolutely nailed the best part of this film, the use of empty space, and sound. As I was watching, I found myself like the character, getting lost in the mystery. There is one particular scene where she falls asleep on the floor with the crime scene photos all around her. I felt like that was the best image of the entire film! This is a solid review, and I highly recommend fans of this style cinema to go watch it!
This reminds me of the criminally underrated "The Empty Man". That movie deserves so much more attention
That movie sucked majorly lol. The first 10 or so minutes was the only part that was good
@@Digger-Nick I think it's a type of movie that improves on rewatch but if you think it sucks that's fine. I strongly disagree
Love that film. So underrated
Thanks for the rec, looks good. Love horror films that filter plebs.
That movie had an interesting premise but it really falls apart. Night House was made the same year and i think out of the two that movie was more underated for 2020 horror.
Sean deserves million of subscribers. Great content as always
While I found the concept original, and the tone and performances effective, the script left a lot to be desired. I’d give it a five out of ten stars. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t live up to the hype.
There’s nothing original about this movie. From the plot of an fbi agent finding a serial killer (Clarice sterling ), asking the killer to help find the actual killer and the interrogation style, Haníbal and Clarice to kebbler doing the best impression of buffalo bill , gay ish, flamboyant deranged psychopath. Meh. 6 out of 10 at best
I usually roll my eyes at all hyperbole on Twitter but I fell for it this time. My expectations are still high but I'm not expecting some horror masterpiece anymore.
I have great news for you,not only this film, but Twisters and Aliens Romulas are also getting great buzz from fans and critics, and of course Deadpool vs Wolverine.

Marketing for this has been fire. Finally grabbed tickets this morning
Yeah, the (over)-marketing / hype about this film has me now taking all of it with a grain of salt.
We'll see how it all pans out.
It sucked balls.

longlegs is a cool movie that feels interesting, looks and sounds great and has a ton of style. its also shallow and has A TON of unexplained details along with A TON of OVER explained details through exposition. Its a great movie that will leave you feeling creeped out, but you may also ask yourself "why...Why they do...uh..?" aswell.
Just got out the theatre. Scaredd the fxk outta me. Went into it with no expectations. Sound design was amazing. Genuinely disturbing. I saw a quiet place day one earlier this week and this wipes the floor woth it
I look forward to it. If it’s like Se7en and Silence of The Lambs, it’s totally up my alley.
Nowhere near as good. How do you feel about Along Came a Spider/Kiss the Girls/The Bone Collector? It's about the same levels as those
This is seriously the last time I get hyped for a horror movie lol. This movie was an absolute mess in my opinion, and not that creepy
I agree that the marketing has been lean but very targeted and effective. It's refreshing to see a film that doesn't just indiscriminately throw their entire budget at mass advertising.
Thanks for the review. Seeing this on Sunday, and all of the trailers gave me Alan Wake II vibes during the FBI segments of the game.
Easily my most anticipated film of the year
Solid review as always,Nic Cage has been doing some great films in the last 5 yrs,Joe,Pig,the one with Pedro Pascal, and this looks amazing.
Horor this year is amazing so far...
- Abigail
- Longlegs
- The First Omen
- A Quiet Place: Day One
- Late Night With The Devil
- Arcadian
- MaXXXine
Can't wait for Nosferatu, Heretic, Alien: Romulus etc....
I’m not even a horror fan and I’ll agree. Was very surprised by Abigail and even tho I had my issues, Maxxxine was decent. Late Night With The Devil was really solid too. Alien Romulus is my third most anticipated movie for the rest of the year too. Feels like 2022 again 😌
Terrifier 3, Beast Within
You missed immaculate. Way better than the first omen
I thought the first omen and quiet place were total garbage

Hope it all goes well!
The hype kinda ruined the opportunity for me to appreciate the movie for what it was.
Creepy but I never made it to the edge of my seat
Marketing was pretty lean for this movie, seems like you didn't know how to either stop reading into "hype" beforehand, or you set yourself up with the wrong expectations. I loved the movie and was able to control my expectations and go in neutral.
@@theoneders2056 well I’ve been looking forward to this movie for a while. I was hyped way before “the best horror movie in a decade” talk.
The raving reviews just confirmed my excitement.
And supernatural/ Demonic horror does nothing for me so when I figured out it wasn’t exactly a serial killer story, I checked out.
Serial killers scare me, not dolls and ghosts
Different strokes for different folks.
@@theoneders2056 I definitely set myself up for disappointment, which I kinda already stated.
I was hyped before “the best horror movie in a decade” talk.
So when I heard the raving reviews, it confirmed my excitement.
But Supernatural/ possession horror does nothing for me.
I enjoy more realistic horror movies and I unfortunately thought this would be that.
Of my many critiques, the best one is it just wasn’t for me.
I am so excited to see this movie.
I was too. Until I saw it.
It's not scary, do not go in expecting it to. Other than that a good movie.
As a major horror fan, and highly anticipating this movie, I'm so excited to finally get to sit down and see something disturbing!
@JohnnyMac2237same, it started off great but then about halfway through i started to lose interest
@JohnnyMac2237i was disappointed with this movie too 😢 my boyfriend even fell asleep he was so bored
This movie did something to me internally i just want to watch it over and over its a masterpiece good story good cinematography
Please stop just throwing around the word "masterpiece"...if this is a masterpiece, you haven't watched enough movies
Incredibly well shot and edited movie. The characters beside Longlegs were all interesting and well acted. The atmosphere and sound design were pitch perfect. Ultimately though, the movie just left me feeling empty. Longlegs was just too weird of a character. He was always dialed up to 11 so, much like The Joker, it felt like it was a movie character rather than a creepy person who could actually exist in real life.
It was impactful because the scariness of it is from the evil it’s about. It’s not just the fear of dying it portrays, it’s the fear of the horror you’ll experience to the place after death it’s portraying. It really got me at the end with all the hidden satan silhouettes. So scary
For me, it lived up to the hype. I never expected perfection, that's unobtainable. I was expecting something visceral, intriguing and creepy. I got all 3. And man...that last frame...will stick with me😮
The son of Psycho gives us a psycho styled movie, yes please
That’s so dope! You know you’ve made it when Sean Chandler interviews you! Congrats brother!
I thought the crafting of the movie was nearly flawless and extremely magnetic. However, for me, the flaw was in the story itself and I am struggling a bit with the balancing of the grounded elements with the supernatural as I felt it was a bit of a stretch with the villain essentially being omnipotent. This will probably make my top 10 Horror list for the year, but not the top 5.
One of my most anticipated watches this year, Nicolas Cage was born to play a role like this.
Just coming here to hit the Thumbs Up and I'll be back to check out your review tomorrow after I've seen the movie! This is easily my most anticipated movie of the year and I have stayed away from everything that has to do with it besides the initial teaser trailer. I cannot wait for this!
What do u think?
I hope this filmmaker makes a ghost rider movie with Nicolas Cage
people have called this the scariest movie of all time; while i disagree, i think it's one of the most suspenseful ever. every doorframe, dark corner, etc leaves you biting your nails in suspense; the scene where she opens the letter towards the beginning in particular; that doorframe was my worst enemy 😭 great film very effective use of sound and some of the best camera work i've seen in ages
I didn’t get that scared watching the movie but once I left the theater I just felt dark and couldn’t stop thinking about it
Just watched the movie in a fan event today and came in blind: I was shook to the core
That’s the best way to see a film!
It was good, but not that good
@@Menstral and i respect your opinion 🫡
One of the years best surprises for me and since Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies, I really enjoyed it.
will say, this movie made me more unsettled than any movie I’ve seen in theatres has in a long time, maybe ever. There are scarier movies out there, but my heart rate did not slow through the entire thing. I had to shower immediately after I got home because I was caked in sweat. Unbelievably dreadful in all the best ways. Not for everyone, but the right people will understand how brilliant it is.
Does Nic cage look like Tiny Tim?
As a film student the first thing I noticed was the framing/negative space like you said. Lots of characters center in the frame, breaking cinematography “rules” left and right to create that tension
Class act Nic Cage having faith in the writer/director.
This movie felt like a blend of Silence of the Lambs and Se7en, but it was so creepy and unsettling, it was really a spine tingling movie
Honestly one of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen. Every aspect was damn near perfect
Lmao 😂
I think it will divide audiences. Who might expect a different picture. A fellow filmie whom I saw it with was bothered by Monroe’s one-note character, but I would argue that one of the big reveals suitably explains it. All the performances were top notch especially Kiernan Shipkas cameo.
Just got back from it. I enjoyed it. Especially that third act. Great vibe and cinematography as well as an eerie performance from Nic Cage. 8.5/10 for me.
Your review of this film is performing pretty well also!
Just discovered your channel. Love it.
I know you can’t really compare a series to a movie but True Detective Season 1 gives major terrorizing vibes. How does this measure up?
So pumped to watch it tomorrow night!!!
Thanks for watching
I unfortunately haven’t seen true detective
@@SeanChandlerTalksAboutno way you’d love season 1 peak cinema
I always thought Copycat was an underrated movie
Agreed! That’s a fantastic movie!! Harry Connick Jr. does an incredible job
I don’t understand why every critic is hyping this movie up it was not very good and not very scary
This was an incredible movie and very unsettling. Nick cage kills it. There’s a few things I wasn’t sold on, but this is a must see.
i watched this movie last night last full show and it was the best decision i have ever made. i got out the cinema flabbergasted and speechless.
I just finished watching the pre screening in SF where Osgood Perkins was actually there for a live Q&A after the showing. Awesome experience. I do have to say... i was a little disappointed for some reason i did expect more from the movie.. Nicholas cages roll wasnt as creepy as i hoped he would be. it didnt give me that bone chilling creepiness that i was hoping to get.. Also for some reason i felt like it seemed a little forced.... a lot was jammed into a short film. people were comparing to silence of the lambs and im sorry they're just not even in the same category when it comes to story line and killer creepiness. i think buffalo bill is still more ominous and creepy than cages roll. i did like the film and would give it a solid 8-10 B+.. it just wasnt everything i hoped it to be.. it had a lot of potential i think it just fell short... maybe if it was more focused on actual serial killer without the paranormal aspect than it might have had a better chance to compare to silence of the lamb, and cages character couldve had more development. overall i think it was a good movie
I saw this being described as one of the scariest films in years. Anyone who’s seen it, is that true?
I havent seen it but its just something being mimmicked. All the ppl praising the film say nah not really and its actually more of thriller and like he says sotl zodiac ect. But with some twists that im really not trying to spoil for myself till i see it but nobody is saying it not being "scariest film ever " is a bad thing ive heard its just one of the best framed and shot movies of the year just masterful work. But im just gonna watch it and let it do its thing i know its good so ill enjoy it for what it is sorry//rant

I was finally able to watch it in my country and I didn't find scary.
I missed her trying to cypher the code, Longlegs basically handed it over to her and I could have been okay with that IF it played more of a part on the movie, and we were able to see the other messages he left at the families houses. She just showed up at the chief’s office and told him “I was able to decipher everything and this was the common thing in all of them” I was baffled because everything so far has been trying to follow her investigation.
Then they allude to a “cult” but that is never clear. They got together in the farm yes but what were they doing there that got them in that position in the first place? They were not the devil's worshippers because they didn't accept “the gift” and decided to commit murder than to “bow to satan”. If anything they were just choosing families from the same congregation to trick them into thinking the doll was form the church but that's about it.
Some things were done right but in others the movie fell really short to my expectations.
I’m seeing this tomorrow night and am EXTREMELY excited!!!! I’m a huge fan of the horror genre; especially those that combine suspense, mystery, gore and supernatural elements.
Thank god it sounds like this movie has an idea and a vision. That what I was most concerned about
One thing I saw that I liked is they said by the end everything is explained with no unanswered questions. I don't mind filling in blanks or using imagination but I think that doing it that way will be a lot better.
You can see the devil he's in the lil door window when Lee first gose to see her mom for the first time it's crazy
Like what just happened? Seriously. I am still shocked. What a psychotic movie.
This is my most anticipated movie of the year. So excited.
I thought it was incredible. It definitely has a David Fincher feel to it. It had me nervous the whole time. It’s my favorite movie of the year so far.
Can’t wait to see his next film Momkey
Just watched this a few hours ago. Extremely well made horror film. I'm just sad that I watched this alone in a huge theatre in my place Malaysia. Movies like this don't do well here.
This movie was fantastic and very well made. An excellent 9/10 for me. Nicolas Cage is incredible
Sean, how do you think your mother would react to seeing Nicolas Cage in this movie? Seems like a role she’d love just as much as Cameron Poe in Con Air.
She asked why he keeps
Making horror films
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout horror movies require less acting (Nick Cage is in my opinion, the worst actor ever, on par with his Face Off buddy John Travolta and Keanu Reeves ), so he chooses horror where he just needs to scream, run, yell, punch , more yelling etc. I cant bear to see Cage's face for even 1 second.

Movie was alright, not scary at all more of a creepy suspense movie than horror film.
Sean you absolutely should watch True Detective Season 1.
Why is he called Long Legs?
It was nice to see a trailer that didn't show everything like the recent Abigail.
I enjoyed it. The first 45 minutes were very slow and a bit boring to be honest but once it got going it was awesome. My friend who I went to see it with actually fell asleep during it. Then there was a jump scare that woke him up screaming and the whole theatre laughed at him.
We loved it! Constant sense of dread and unease. It made me feel like I made a pact with the devil and now I’m scared 😱 😂
Even the director in this interview gave me the creeps!
He's the son of Norman Bates lol
It needed more , more grab, more bite …more escalation. It surprises me how so many directors just can’t feed off the dark vibe that is horror and suspense. Sure it wants to stand out on it own and it brings out your light but it certainly can let you down to the point you want to hide. I’m not gonna beat it up because the movie fine but, it just also could’ve been another in a collection for many to watch again and again. This sadly is not. Nicolas Cage was indeed a nice fit to his role.
Most excited I’ve been to see a movie in a long time. It was great but the pay off just wasn’t there. 6/10
Now that I watched the interview clip… that “hard left turn” he mentioned ruined the end of the movie
Glad I watched your review. I was going to avoid t because I thought this was another spider horror film 😂. I feel like there’s been a lot of spider horror this year for some reason. I might go check this out😊
@@jeans4108 yeah it’s not a spider movie. Haha
I get it might be a great movie but aren’t they going on a tear on advertising, I really hope it’s as good because if something is over advertised it usually doesn’t live up to the hype
I loved longlegs it exceeded the hype for me I was terrified the whole runtime, I really like crime thrillers like this and Nic Cage is top tier here
Saw it last night at the very first screening in my city, it was packed, the chick next to me was blowing her nose the entire time, and I think I got her cold…. Great. Movie was awesome though
Went to watch it last night. Definitely gave me Silence of the Lambs vibes. Sooo good
It started storming heavily and the power went out in the middle of movie at my theater during the bed sheet reveal scene as soon as it was about to happen and some people thought it was oart of the movie and were creeped out 😅.
Was very excited for this film and while I think it was a better-than-average horror film, it came up slightly shorter than I anticipated. I went into it (lowkey) expecting Hereditary-level fear. Just lacked a certain “wow” factor. Similar to what Sean says here, the intrigue/build up was more powerful than the big event itself. Some cliche, predictable plot points. But nonetheless extremely creepy, engaging, and loved the cinematography and eeriness. 7.8 for me
Is there a supernatural element to this movie?
Yes
Watched it yesterday night and I loved it, there were elements from Seven, Hannibal, X-Files, and Annabelle, I was in it from the start to the end, I wish towards the end it was scarier with the plot, overall great horror and thriller movie
Oz should direct
A Nightmare On Elm St.
With most of same cast as Longlegs
Please.
Seans slowly selling out with his reviews
I loved this film!
Just saw this film. I go see a lot of horror movies in the theaters and none of them have really scared me. But this one did
Seen it today !... was blown away!
I ignored the hype. I thought it was terrific. 94/100. I disagree, I think it is a horror movie for the decade. Very memorable, well crafted performances and great use of tension and suspense.
they did the same thing for dream scenario. It was so good for 3/4 of it and then they start to plot vomit and things just don’t make sense.
Couldn’t agree more with this review
Hey Sean, is it like a full on horror movie? Should I expect something akin to Se7en or does it have jumpscares, gore, etc.
What do you mean seven is super gore
Saw it yesterday. There is a little amount of gore. It's not centered around that. Maybe 2 jumpscares. It's a movie that does very well with creating anxiety and dread and a level of creepiness that ramps up as the film continues.
@@hidenname541I think he’s talking like slasher movie gore. Gore isn’t really something I’d associate with Se7en even though there are some relatively gruesome scenes given the nature of the story.
I can’t wait for Friday!!! Seeing it with my buddy, him and I are so excited 😄
Ok, thank you for saying Supernatural. I thought so, that was a bit confusing. But i know what you are talking about when you say ‘The Bad’.
I wish the movie gave us enough time to figure out the mystery along with Lee
8.5 /10 is exactly what I gave this film! It was great and the way it was shot was awesome at conveying that sense of altered reality, but it didn't creep me out to my core in the way films like Hereditary or Sinister did... must-see though!
This was really great. Nichaolas Cage is nuts in the movie...off kilter. The movies completely unpredictable amd doesn't play by movie rules either does Nicholas Cage. It wasn't the monster stuck in the house with the FBI agent...it wanders around...not really conventially scary. Can be funny and weird in a good way. I was really surprised.
