He’s going against himself because he wrote this song before him and his girl started dating, because with him climbing into the industry at such a young age he felt like he wouldn’t be able to give what he needed to give to a relationship. So he’s telling her to stay a thousand miles away. But, they ended up dating, and he was just overthinking. So that’s why he’s battling himself in the video
