As an 88 year old, who has been listening to jazz for 77 years , I am most impressed. To hear youngsters playing such great jazz is uplifting. With talent like this jazz will never die.
I am a mere 73, I have been listening to jazz since I was 12. I had given up hope that jazz would remain as an art form. What I love about these youngsters is not only are they continuing to play jazz with a high degree of musicianship, but that they have developed their own style.
Hello, sir. I'm on a little bit of a quest searching for early female jazz instrumentalists (excepting pianists), any names happen to come to mind? Thanks!
@@hugovonbratwurst9443 WTF are you on about. Is English a 2nd language for you? Why don't you read back your own statement as that was what I was commenting on.
Greed is good, greed is right, and real sorry to say, but yeah, it's probably white. It sort of sucks cos as an artist I can't generalises ever at all, truth being beauty and such. But I miss out on hearing fabulous young artists because as you said there's hidden forces at work, and they have absolutely no imagination what so ever....and I'm coming to London.....
Love this tune! These musicians are doing the genre proud. Been listening to several their albums recently and can't help thinking that if 'trane or Miles could hear them, they would smile.
Just can’t stop watching this and get something new out of it each time. The pure energy of the drummer and the bass player. The beautiful arrangements, subtle key changes .... I am so living this lady and her amazing band. A real inspiration to see such passion and skill by such beautiful young people. Xx
What she did to the rendition of McCoy Tyner's Contemplation on her Nubya's 5ive is just phenomenal.. Can't wait to see what else she got to offer.. What an honour it would be to see her perform live
The music moved me. I was there but never left here. A sound so welcomed and familiar but new. Today, I heard what tomorrow brings and I can’t wait to hear more of what this talented new artist has to say.
What an amazing blues jam session. I am totally mesmerisedthey just drew me into their unique mix of the various instruments, but Nubya was outstanding.
And look at the tenor she's playing ! It's a classic machine - a Conn New Wonder Series I from the mid-1920s. A great musician with a great horn. Love her !
I had a Conn like that . Split bell transitional from 1936. The only horn I ever sold that I was sorry after it was gone. She's a solid player. I saw her here in Rochester at the jazz fest. Like a lot of the young players today she's drawn an aversion to swing in her music. I'd like to hear them swing a little more. Anyway, she's got some chops and a great tone as well.
@@stevel6895 They mostly seem to be more about groove than swing. But having seen the sort of groove that Maisha or Kokoroko can cook up, that's not necessarily a bad thing.
D'énormes qualités tempérées de si jolis défauts qui font de la sincérité musicale une source intarrissable d'emmerveillement ... Merci mille fois la relève !!! ...
Yep, she is beautiful and confident, her good looks and her artistic craft go together. Saw her the other day in another show with Gilles (from Singapore in 2017, on the Mezzo tv channel): she was wearing a tight blue jacket and her hair shorter than here, the same fusion of good looks and artistic confidence and joy in making music. :) Or like Esperanza Spalding, you know... :)

its great music but it makes me sad that this has become jazz

The baddest Cello breakdown that I have ever heard . Beautiful music ✌🏿❤💪🏿🙏🏿
The harmony between the Double bass and the keyboard is real smooth. The band finishes very strong. They will get better
Consequently my answer to the world’s many problems is more Jazz!!!
Me too kkkkkk
I love this performance! Love recognizing other people from different bands too shows such a good sense of community and creativity
My ears and heart have been starved of such pure groove and style why is this lady not as big as Washington ?my soul needs more ... much more
She's young, and her future and ours hearing her play is bright. NG has a long career ahead of her for all of us to dig. ONE LOVE
I actually like her more than Kamasi. Personal preference I know, but her playing just speaks more to me.

Nubya Garcia and her fellow londoners has made me listen to jazz again
Love jazz so much here is another reason just heard her on the radio now this tune. She’s a great musician. Switched to jazz in 1985 from rock.
Bass and Tuba combo is straight nasty oh my goodness, can't even imagine how good Nubya sounds live too.
Shadowl1ne Say it louder for the people in the back!! They’re straight fire 🔥🔥
Exactly man, she needs to come to Australia, or we could come over there I guess. And you know I'm serious. AWESOME.!!!!

Many agree they are maybe the best sounding horns ever. I use one for alto and it stands up to all the many Selmers etc I 've tried.
Excellent. So inspiring and energizing. Wonderful.
Damn, I keep on trying to play other videos but can't leave this one
Awesome! Beautiful tenor sound!
love that lil bit of coltranes alabama in the intro!!
