I got to attend my great-grandfather's 100th birthday, and pretty much the entire family showed up. We roasted a whole hog, and I saw my great-grandpa take a couple shots of his favorite vodka.
My dad later explained to me that my great-grandpa is normally much more reserved, and had never expected to live that long. He called the family together because he figured it was the last time he'd get to see all of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids together in the same place at once.
What impressed me was the clarity of his mind. I had to slow down my speech and talk loudly (he was a bit hard of hearing), but he knew exactly who I was, what my name was, and so on.
    He lived to be 104.
Two years after his 100th birthday, I had to rush home, because his son (my grandfather) had passed away from a heart attack. I helped my dad bury him at sea, in accordance with my grandfather's wishes. Once a year, my dad takes a boat out and drops a bundle of flowers (with no plastic, of course) on the exact GPS coordinates my grandfather was buried at.

I lost my friend Reo to suicide about 8 years ago. My favorite memory of him is us going to see System of a Down in concert. He didn't really know the band but after that concert, he was a die hard fan. I still remember the joyful look on his face when they preformed Mr. Jack and they had these huge lights spell out the lyrics "FUCK YOU PIG" flash on stage during the song. That was just one of our many adventures that I treasure in my memories and I miss him deeply.

Having lived my first year with out my mother, I think everything you mentioned seemed extremely valid. Until my last day on this earth, I’ll always be trying to put the pieces together and understand the reasons behind the situation. Also, having never heard of this band before, the style of this particular song is so magnetic (at least to me) in the sense that real life issues like emotions and mental health are a much bigger draw than a song about going out to a night club and drinking one’s money away.
    Thank you for this. 🧡

I knew it was going to be really hard for me when it comes to grief but ever since my dog died i dont want to talk about them or even see one on screen. I know I already shared a story, but id like to share another, if you don't mind.
A little while back, I shared this music video with my older brother (who is a survivor of a suicide attempt, that's a story in itself) when he was feeling lost and unable see the good in life, even though his amazing wife was doing her absolute best. I was overseas at the time, and having a long, meaningful conversation was almost impossible due to the time difference.
I shared this music video, and according to him, it gave him that moment of clarity where he realized that people do care about him, and it was a key point in his efforts to turn things around.

He was in critical condition at least 4 times that summer and being overdosed by the doctor's which also almost killed him. I'd like to make a suggestion of a band and a song, it doesn't matter if you react to it or not, but it speaks A LOT about mental health issues.
    Band: icon for hire
    Songs: iodine
    Hope of morning
    Under the knife
    Just a phrase from iodine.
"I say I wanna be happy but I quickly forget. Will I sabotage all the good I've got left? Depression's like a big fur coat. It's made of dead things but it keeps me warm".

This video brought back some memories for sure. The scene where the guy is shooting pool; in 2004, a cousin I was close with, which I may have mentioned this before but my cousin Justin, while my parents were going through a divorce, the night before Justin died, he was trying to find my number to call me. He died in a car crash. Some months later that year I remember being in a bar, and shooting pool, having some drinks, and this girl I went to school with that knew us both, that I used to have a crush on, who had a crush on Justin (he never knew I liked her, but he didn't have feelings for her anyway but I guess I have to laugh a little about that)- anyway, she asks me about him. This was kind of a heavy burden for me, to see her reaction when I told her what had happened. She ended up going down a dark path, and to this day, I have no idea what ever happened to her. Doesn't bother me that she didn't have feelings for me in return. It bothers me, that she took that path.

I put myself out there but feel half cocked in any way from interviews to talking to people and trying to open up to people close to me. I have been depressed in the past but not to my determent on my confidence but I feel like that tank has ran out and I dont know how to refill it.

As someone who got divorced last year and has been through one heck of a roller coaster since, the best advice I have is to take time to reconnect to yourself. You're going in half-cocked because your self-esteem and self-worth has been compromised. Work on building that back up, connecting with the things YOU care about or enjoy. Fill your own bucket and then share your overflow with others instead of depleting it and looking for others to fill it 💖

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to the songs "The End of Me" and "Behind Blue Eyes/Dragonfly" by a band called Shaman's Harvest. The End of Me was written for a band members brother who unfortunately committed suicide and Behind Blue Eyes/Dragonfly is a super meaningful and emotional song as well. Please be the one person who actually will react to a suggestion I have
