legends these guys.. thanks for sharing your journey Joshua!
It's crazy how much that helps to make CGI elements feel more realistic! Incredible work!
Thanks! I'm really pleased with the end result
Unbelievable results! The forefront of virtual production this channel! Smashed it
Thanks so much
End result is amazing. Would love to watch a longer breakdown of the whole process, like the lighting setup, compositing etc...
That's what the course will be... but instead of the result form this video we made a full mummy short film and will show the process end to end.
crazy how we can feel the hapiness when the lens finally works !
It's pure relief. I was so far through the process I'd have hated it to not work in unreal.
So cool! Some of those shots, especially with the mummy look like Claymation with the virtual lenses. I don't see anyone else taking this approach. You are awesome.
@azielarts Thanks so much, Thaddeus! I'm glad you like it. You'll have to try it for some of your renders!
@@JoshuaMKerr Absolutely!
I really love how ambitious this guy is! He keeps surprising me, project after another!
Very inspiring!!
I keep choosing really difficult projects. After this I'd love an easier one.
I hope this lens system is built in 3D programs in upcoming. Such a vibe to see
If someone from Hollywood reaches out, you have to let us know. 😊Amazing job!!
lol, I'd be surprised. Thanks for saying, though.
I can now use my Helios with Unreal in virtual production- mind blown. Thank you!
Yeah man! Please do...it's lonely at the top xD
This is INSANE!!! Wow!
Man I came for knowledge and I left with a lot of anticipation for you’re short, very excited to see what you come up with!
Can't wait to show what we're making. Glad you're excited
Nicely done sir! I appreciate all your time, effort and willingness to share.
I appreciate you watching. I aint goin nowhere
Congrats! The journey has had me on the edge of my seat! Looks great!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. It was certainly a journey.
Youre such an inspiration man... Figuring all of this out with trial and error
Looks good! I can definitely see you developing a larger fan base, this is entertaining and well narrated content :)
Thanks man
Oh my word this looks so good!!!!
Wow. How awesome it looks!
Thank you! Cheers!
Respect for your perserverance on this 😮
Thanks man
Hello Josh. I own the set of Iron Glass lenses that were used in Batman. You can get some fantastic images with them especially using the Varicam. So I will look out for this lense on the market place. Keep the good work up. Always interesting to see what you are up to.
Oh very nice, those rehoused lenses are very nice. I had the pleasure of trying a 28mm Iron Glass earlier this year.
The virtual Helios is availlable from a link in the descripton :)
Well done, will buy the pack today as I’m working on my film this week.
Cool, join the discord too. If you have questions you can post them there.
BROOOOOO THIS LOOKS PERFECT
Hey man! Thanks! Glad you like it
That’s insane of idea 🔥🔥🔥
You are very talented! I really want to learn virtual production! I can’t wait for the course!
Me too.
Thank you soooooo much!
Thanks that i can use it without paying again!
I tested a bit and its looking great!
No worries. It makes no sense to put barriers in peoples way needlessly. Plus, it's a bit experimental and will need some updates.
Thanks for making and sharing this.
Thanks for watching it
This is so epic
Thanks man!
It's a pity that I live in Russia! If I could be by your side, we would combine my knowledge and skills with yours and create a movie. Keep up the great work, don't stop-you're the best! You will achieve everything you want!!
Wtf!? Genius ❤❤❤
Awesome!!!
Amazing stuff!
that's great man!
Amazing attention to detail.
Thanks
I think you should create a virtual ironglass set, include the Tair-300 to make it a set of seven.
20,28,32,58(Helios),85,135+300 (Tair)
Damn I'd love to but patent hunting is just awful and I don't own the ironglass set to compare to either. Good idea. Maybe one day I'll get the chance.
the best lens
WOOW FANTASTICO ME ENCANTO !!! GOOD JOB
Thanks!
insane work man !!!! insane!
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic!
very underrated channel
@@PnoMate Thanks for saying so. Im glad you enjoy my work
Looks awesome!
Cheers
You probably have a ton on your plate already, but a short walk through of the Unreal part, setting, lighting, etc, would be awesome. I can't seem to nail path traced lighting or settings beyond what you and Boundless guy (I'm ashamed I can't remember his name right now) have provided. Like my fog disappears, etc. I bought the lens pack previously and loved what they do, but got frustrated with the path tracing part, if that makes sense.
Really fun watch! Super dope topic and fantastic final result.
Cheers man!
bro - that's a crazy idea! Love this!!
excellent job brother
Thanks man
Thank you for this awesome insight of how you created this lens!
I am really curious about the last part, how you eventually made this lens match the Helios 44-2 bokeh :). I’ve been struggling myself as well with recreating lenses. My images always aren’t crisp and show different bokeh compared to the real life lens 😓
Anyways great work as always, really inspiring!
For me a lot of it came down to the settings on the camera. We are using them as sensor planes but they still have depth of field and focus settings which can cause some wierd problems. But honestly optics is such a vast topic and these virtual lenses can fail for just about any reason.
Dude this is better CGI than Hollywood! It totally looks real!
Too kind :)
I want to buy your full course with an explanation from beginning to end of how to make a movie. Please, just let it be with a very clear explanation!
I plan for it to be very detailed
@@JoshuaMKerr Thanks. Can you give me an estimated launch date for this course?
@@3dd205 I'm also wondering when???
I came here to say I was a bit bummed by the added render times and I had an issue not being able to keep the lens synced with my camera shake...Which I am sure there is a fix for my dumb...but man...I think you just resold me on using these on a short. Nice work on the helios. I have an old PL mount Helios for my 35mm Arri 3. I think I have to find a PL mount digital cam now. hahaha Nice work. Also you mentioned having a little one...I thought you had been a school boy! lol
@HealingPeace-bz7rt Haha... yeah, im a dad...school was a very long time ago for me.
You mention trying to add camera shake to the helios. Is this a blueprint based camera shake? Tell me a bit about your setup.
If you have a pl mount helios is it a 44-2. There are quite a few variants
what a blast!
Great man. You are literally crazy. So blender version of the helios include the package ?
Glad you like the work. The blender files are not included. Virtual glass was made for Unreal.
This is a really great adventure. You have a very cool narrator style voice, I can almost hear it now... "Here we have the Jena Biotar, far from its native ecology, the Biotar is a rare prize currently being hunted down, with few surviving." (Oh wait, that's Sir David Attenborough... my bad)
What a great skill set. Thank you for the video!
BTW, how do you deal with the giant light focused on the back of your head like that early in the vid... its so bright you ears are glowing red!
Thanks man...I'm certainly no Attenborough haha. Not sure what you mean about the light, I was filming prety ad-hoc so nothing is lit in a deliberate way. I just want to catch myself in the midst of the process.
@@JoshuaMKerr Oh, there was this one scene... "1 Week Later", at 2:03, I thought you did that on purpose tho.
@marcfruchtman9473 Whatever you're seeing must just be me
🙌
08:10 "Area Clear" Ahh reaction.
Oh 100%
@@JoshuaMKerr Any chance of a video on Unreal optimization for Animation for both viewport working and rendering.. Please
Love the attention of detail of this. Curious if these virtual lenses can be applied to the UE in real-time or if they are designed to be applied on the final render.
They only work with pathtracer. Glad you like the video.
We want the blender Lens. :)
I'll see what I can do
May I ask, if we purchase the Virtual Glass, do they contain everything to get them working in blender too? I assume it will be the model + material with correct IOR. And, perhaps a rig to focus? Thanks!
They are set up to work in unreal. I have the blender files, but im not familiar enough with blender to make a neat rig. The helios works a bit differently to the first lenses I made. It currently has a focus controller, but aperture is fixed at f2 for now. I'll be updating this.
Bro can u please make a video on DMX control for controlling external lights to fit unreal engine environment
It's on my list. It might be more suited to the upcoming course, though.
Insane! How do u learned ue5 blueprints?
I've picked it up a bit over the years (mainly youtube tutorials), but im still not very good at it.
So what was missing for the lens? Pattern and ior are not enough? :O
So much man. It's crazy. I didn't bother going into it in the video because to explain one thing I have to explain ten other things...and before I know it the video would become a bloated mess.
@@JoshuaMKerr hot damn! Any plans to make a video just about that then?
@Ecklar Very unlikely, sorry, It’s a bit too niche and would stray a bit far from my channel topic.
where could i find the blender version?
My lens pack is just for UE5
Brown Kimberly Perez Edward Lewis Mark
they work in blender too?
My lens pack is just for UE5. Might do blender down the line
@@JoshuaMKerr Nice! I'll be waiting
what a noob type of stuff
