Black Uhuru-Shine Eye Gal, Plastic Smile, General Penitentiary, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

This was the encore from the Black Uhuru performance that took place at Bay Street, Sag Harbor, N.Y., on March 17, 1990. This line-up of Don Carlos, Dickie Simpson and Garth Dennis does not really get its due, in my opinion, but here they are doing four classic Uhuru songs, and if Don is missing a beat on lead--I do not hear it. Likewise...what a great band, and if you hang on after the singers exit, you can hear each musician get introduced and take a little solo for emphasis.
Thanks as always to the Step Lively crew and to Bay Street. I will always grimace a little about the over-enthusiastic lighting man who fried everyone to a crisp with that intense white light, but a so it go. Glad to be able to record this performance for posterity anyway.
One more confession: the master camera (with the audio line from the sound board) ran out about 2/3rds of the way through "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" (Guess who ran out of tape?). But the other cameras picked the audio up well, so...as Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, "there's always something"...
