Awesome video. I prefer placing my PS5 in horizonal orientation because I heard most people say it's better as highly recommend. I don't know how to explain but I already understand why. It's good you have both original and slim.
Never mind so I figured it out I had the cap stored in the wrong hole I had it in the square/X instead of circle/triangle. This is only done if you are using the older consoles other than the slim in which I have it snaps it place perfectly. Also side note if you are using the stand for the older model you must use the additional base to fit the older ones. Then you would reverse what I said ⬆️ moving along if you have the slim you turn the base till it is securely in place then screw it in square/x. I hope this help. This is many of our misunderstanding. Me as a person love to help people and I figured it out. Hope this helps you all who are having this problem. I'm not certain about cooling, probably helps some there since it's raised but i think the fans mostly go out the top part. otherwise as long as you don't knock into it then it'll be fine without a stand, but have to be careful not to knock over (such as pets, kids, etc.).
After researching, I've come to find out that having your PS5 Slim vertical w/o the mount does have an impact on ventilation. Definitely stand it vertically with a mount if you don't want to risk damage to your console. Had to get one last minute for Christmas.

The only thing is the new screw is shorter than the OG. With the old console it only goes in so far, then spins after you can’t go any further. It’s snug. But you keep expecting the screw to fully tighten and it doesn’t.
i got my stand used off ebay for $14 i thought what a deal and it was but unfortunately it didn't come with that other cover for the og ps5 installation.

I just got one from GameStop for my og PS5

no it's the opposite, without the stand the PS5 is flat on the ground so everything is covered. with the stand it's raised like half a centimeter.
