I remember the first time I did this mission so many years ago. Took a me a few resets to get my strategy right, but in the end, I captured every single last multibeam ion frigate they had without loosing any of my own.
@@TheAeroAvatar The multibeam frigates? For sure! So much power in such a tiny hull. But the true GOAT is the Salvage Corvette. I did a play through and my capital fleets never once engaged an enemy. I just turned all my enemies fleets into my own.
Do you think the multibeam frigates here are more powerful than the Somtaaw multibeams in HWC? Do you think they are better ships overall than the HWC multibeam frigates?
This is the only Homeworld game I've played, so I don't know the answer to your question. If they are anything like Ion-only frigates in this game, they're probably equally vulnerable to strike craft. But as long as they have clear strengths in at least one area of combat and manageable weaknesses then I'd consider the ship useful.
@@spectre9065 They fill different jobs really. Somtaww multibeam trades sheer directed firepower for jaw dropping tracing and multi target engagement capability. If you had both, you likely wouldn't lump them into a single group to throw a capitol ships. (Though the Somtaww multibeam would provide a pretty good anti-strike craft escort capability if you did.)
This was a freaking hard mission
This mission was nuts. You are scared af of the needle motherships.

Talk about a Game Breaker, am I right?

those ships have no right being as powerful as they are in that size.
if you had those salvage corvettes you could have captured some of those enemy ion beam ships, and use them in the missions ahead

***** Can't a somtaaw multibeam frigate at least defeat the following:
Assault frigate
Ion cannon frigate
Ion Array frigate
18 in this mission and 1 in mission with derelict ship. Those kadeshi frigates are SO powerful and cute

I almost feel bad about this, lol
How do you have so much money
save, salvage, and conserve. Dont need a ton of ships if you salvage so more rp is saved plus avoid casualties.
Stop playing during the cutscenes! why do you even put it up!
