I think that once Ruby Rose 2 is finished, Nick will circumnavigate the Earth TWICE. He is so excited and absolutely thrilled with the Sea Wind. I would have said he's in love with the boat, but his reference to marriage made his hierarchy clear. ...Imagine Nick having both the wife and the boat, though!
You are a good narrator, and it easy to understand what you are talking about. Great videos and you mentions something every sailors experience is the digging in the lockers and looking for tools.
Kudos to Seawind for agreeing to showing behind the scene construction and you folks chronicling it all...for a prospective buyer it must be answering so many questions..thank you
This is actually an enormous time suck for Shane and Seawind. His days become devoted to ushering the clients around, instead of his normal duties. He cannot deal with staff, scarce resources, vendors, etc whilst answering Nick's questions. So big appreciation to Seawind and to Shane, who should be answering "Its on your bloody plans you internet f**ks, don't you remember!?!?"
goin to love this build series, all hail Seawind for backing this, it's going to boost sales for sure. I think they was thinking about christening the bed in the future 🙂....
Every time I don’t think I can possibly be more impressed with a boat, I get my perceptions reset. Kudos to seawind for being willing to pull back the curtains and show us the entire process. Thanks
@@sailingrubyrose I don’t know how you are managing to avoid overhyping yourselves. My wife isn’t into boats and sailing at all and she said “yup, that’s the boat for me. Every place has a thing and everything has its place”. IE the storage impressed her
when you have a good product and nothing to hide it easy to be open and transparent - also seawind and some others are always looking at ways to improve the product while keeping the integrity of the build
It is obvious that Shane has spent hours and hours thinking about and visualizing this boat. He never hesitated once to think about what any particular space was going to be used for.
love it... Know what a workshop can do... The first thing I built in mine was a work bench with a vice... paid for itself 20 times over... and no skinned knuckles slipping work all over the place...
Amazing construction. Shane seems to have every detail in his head and still has the flexibility to say 'this space? Whatever you want.' Helipad? No problem.
The attention to pre-planning on this boat is such a relief. That panoramic view in the master cabin is going to be such a value add. I cannot wait to see it all fleshed out.
Amazing stuff. Must confess, I'm not sure which I am enjoying more..... Seeing the techie boat stuff or the joy and curiosity of you two. Thanks for taking us along.
One suggestion - as the boat is still so rough: What's about planning, - how to keep your tools (1 - 3 toolboxes). - define some kind of storage system (system boxes) for spare parts, paints etc. and with this decision - give that to Shane to have all of that a permanent, secure space in the ship? Would be a pity if Shane places shelfs in the workshop but the boxes won't fit in there. Perhaps as a addon Shane might sell the storage system with the boat and it's perfect fit.
She has such well thought out construction, you are truly blessed to be able to witness and be so closely involved in the design and construction of your dream home. My fear would be that I would take too much advantage of the caverns of storage and in doing so diminish her stunning sailing capabilities. Fortunately she'll be in such experienced and capable hands that she'll shine at Sea and Hook.
@@sailingrubyrose Patient my wahoo...you're both clearly vibrating with excitement! The joy and anticipation on your faces are more fun to watch than the actual build process! LOL
Though I’ve never been close to a boat like that, it is going to be interesting to watch you in your future sails with some understanding of the boat we’re watching in operation. As I think, I wonder how much ‘help and guidance’ you’ll receive from viewers like me as you encounter issues in the future?
It looks Amazing, I do AC for living, you'll appreciate those big ducts for the airflow they provide , its all about velocity of airflow, cant wait to see your Cat finished, you two must be chomping at the bit ...
Amazing walk though! RR2 is going to be huge! A lot of space for the two of you! Looking forward to seeing the progress that you choose to share. Thanks to the owner of Hull #1. Your excitement is so wonderful to see. Mark in Colorado
This is so fun to watch. The detail and use of space is incredible! The hardest part may be not filling it all and weighing her down. All in all a good problem to have👍
Interesting to see the structure behind the finish bulkheads and hear the thought that went into the design. Great anticipation for the next vlog. It would be interesting during the tours to hear where your and Terysa"s ideas changed or altered the design / build. Also, people might find it interesting to hear the optional equipment that was chosen as well as those items that weren't. Ruby Rose 2 has sail drives. Why did you choose them versus shaft drives?
The build process really gives you an insight into how cleverly and well thought out the design is. Your videos are always fun and I learn something new each time. That is an amazing catamaran.
noice - a very well built boat - unlike another vlog with a lagoon 41 saying that going around and tabbing all the bulkheads with glass where the "glue" had parted from the hull was just ongoing maintenance and just normal wear and tear on a boat - seawind and some other boats are built too last not just charter condocats
Wow! There’s so much room, maybe you should name it Ruby Rose x2. Down the road, is there any chance of showing more of Vietnam? I’d love to see more of the country and it’s people.
The construction looks to be TOP NOTCH...Congratulations Nick....The storage space is massive, can't Waite to see the work shop complete. good on you Nick to have a work shop....Question what size motors did you pick Yanmar 80 hp ???
Incredible use of space. The hours spent designing this boat are evident. I would not be getting much sleep the next few months, too excited. I'm very happy for you two!
This must be an amazing experience seeing your own boat buying built , I guess not many owners have this experience and no doubt Seawind will receive future orders benefiting from this channel 👍
Fascinating! I do watch some of those big wooden-boat building channels. It is totally interesting to see the industrial assembly of a fiber+resing boat, as well!
Great episode again Nick and Terysa. Love the way it's all starting to come together. No doubt she will be rigged in Vietnam as well? Have you had a chance to view the rigging components factory and see the quality of those; mast/boom, spreaders, wire rope, etc.? Didn't you say recently you viewed the components for all the stainless going into the fixtures? Please let us know about some of this stuff as well as the interior white goods? How many fridges are you getting, and made by who, etc.
The owners of hull #1 should be excited to see their boat come together and to have the build view that you provide. The camera work and editing are so good on these shows. I would love to be a Patron but I work 5 days a week just to make bills and live. Sorry about that.
That was very interesting seeing hull #1 and having your boat walk-thru added for comparison. I have to learn how to do that when editing my videos as it really makes it clearer to see the comparison. Terysa, my wife is also 5 ft 2 in tall and I am 6 ft so we have that "vertically challenged" conversation all the time. It's just part of our vernacular after 35 years of marriage. I'm guessing that the blue topcoat material is a protective layer over the finished gel coat to keep it safe from scratches or abrasions during the build process. Looking forward to the next video. Take care and stay as cool as possible. I recall that Viet Nam was a very humid country when I was there in 1970 (that was a different time and a different world back then).
Interresting :) i give you this: weather ballon 10m diameter...you need about 6 on an catamaran..the idea is with air and hoses doing a paracutelike box in the sealing. This will make the cat unsinkable..no sharp edges and the ballon will make you afloat so calmer weather and repair can be done...best luck to you :)
Considering that a majority of the time it's just going to be you two, I would have converted one of the guest cabins into a hot tub/steam room. It's really relaxing and great for the complexion.

its looking great already, your excitement shines through on the vlogs, looking forward to watching the build take shape.
Not going to lie.. I already miss the sailing part of your videos..

Love to see it when a monohull’er buys their first cat! The amount of space difference is obscene!
