When I was a kid I always figured the other buses was the same bus driver that took spongebob to rock bottom and had been basically trolling him for hitting him over and over with the balloon.
spongebob seasons 1-3 was like simpsons seasons 4-6..theres some insane next level comedy writing going on that not only builds off a joke but builds another three jokes off that build of a joke until its just about dry then it snaps one more joke out of it for good measure to tie it up..that is hard to do...
Proof that adults can love SpongeBob. There's so much amazing humor in this show that anyone can enjoy. It's like "I can enjoy comedy just not this comedy" Like dude come on, it's not like they're making a bunch of puns and nothing else. Or just making annoying sound effects. These are genuine jokes and have great execution. Glad to see more and more people come out as Spongebob fans.
It's not for everyone. It's for me. If I meet someone who doesn't like it because they prefer different comedy, that's fine. No need for me to protest at them. I enjoy Spongebob but it's not like I own it and can get offended when others don't like it. My dad doesn't think I should be watching it though, he's always considered it a children's show XD

The only real hole in that idea is that unless there's an offscreen portal that allowed the bus to loop around or somehow the bus is the magic school bus, there are multiple buses that appear and disappear in rapid succession at one point when SpongeBob is at the vending machine.
It's good to know that so many other adults love this cartoon as much as I do.😁I enjoy seeing these two dudes bust up laughing during such a classic Spongebob episode.😉
This "Rock Bottom" story of Spongebob is the creepiest episode for me when I was young. Perhaps, the worst nightmare of a child is to be left behind, miss the school bus or to be lost in unfamiliar places. Spongebob experienced these things in Rock Bottom. He boarded the wrong bus and got stranded in a place full of darkness and strange creatures. He tried various ways to make his way home but everything just did not work out. Not until someone uknown helped him by blowing his balloon that made Spongebob float in the air to his home. Now as I revisit this episode, I realized it was shown to scare the young and to enlighten the grown ups. There are times that we hit "rock bottom." Maybe because of bad decisions or just plain bad luck. Life is not always as fun as jellyfishing and forgiving as Mrs. Puff's driving school. We think that this is the lowest point of our life and that no matter how we try to recover, life is just not getting any better. But when we recognize what we still have, where we are, we can always find our way up. Of course, we cannot do it alone. We need help from other people. Someone will come. We have to believe that help is on its way. Sometimes, it comes from the people we least expect to offer it. Thank you Nickelodeon. It took me years to unwrap this gift. ❤️💯
This episode was actually about segregation. The Rock Bottom was actually the Black City and the Bikini Bottom is actually the White city. That’s the Bikinian citizens are scared of it and the bus doesn’t go very frequently. The bus keeps leaving SpongeBob because during Jim Crow laws, they never waited for Black Citizens. SpongeBob couldn’t pass for white for any of the bus drivers, so that’s why they kept leaving and the citizens of Rock Bottom could tell he was Black or maybe a citizen of Rock Bottom, and the Bikian citizens can never tell that SpongeBob wasn’t Black/Bikinian citizen. This is his first time going to somewhere, where he is the majority, so that’s why he is scared. He even code switches back to AAVE/Tongue thing when speaking to the citizens and when he saves Squidward who couldn’t get it down.
