- What are the different types of skin cancer?
There are several types of skin cancer, each with distinct characteristics and presentations:
1.Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC):
This type often appears as a small, pigmented, slow-growing tumor with rounded or rolled margins. In later stages, or in some variants, small ulcers may form within the lesion.
2. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC):
These cancers typically grow in a proliferative phase and can resemble cauliflower-like lesions that grow rapidly.
3. Melanoma:
This type presents as an irregular, pigmented spot with asymmetrical borders. Within the lesion, there may be different shades of color, with some areas being more pigmented than others.
These are the most common types, but rarer forms of skin cancer can present with different morphologies, which are usually diagnosed by taking a biopsy.
