Amazon lost his Tribe, his mentor, his Japanese mentor and his assistant 15 minutes into the show. Even by Showa era standards that's pretty wild.

Toru Okazaki (the actor of Daisuke Yamamoto/Kamen Rider Amazon) is a really good Kamen Rider actor..He did appear first as a tokusatsu actor in Strada 5 which is a Super Sentai-like show produced by NET/TV Asahi in 1974.

Truly my favorite rider series. Best of the showa era even!
Amazon's character development as it goes along, the struggles of relating to his fellow man as they reject and berate him not for what he is, but for what they see him as. Slowly warming up to those that embrace him for what he is and doing so in turn to others.
All while on the other side of the coin ripping and tearing every monster daring to disturb what little peace can be found for Amazon.
Phenomenal. I relate far too much to this feral lizard man. Wish it wasn't trashed basically halfway through it's run due to changing TV standards and the unrealistic expectations of TV ratings that strangled kamen rider for like a decade.
Toei I say this with full clarity, I would give you the equivalent cost or more of my kidney to own this series subbed physically in the US.
And the fact that discotek media or SHOUT factory hasn't put anything out rider wise that I can hold in my hand breaks my heart and leaves my wallet crying.

First time I heard about this Kamen Rider (I don't know many of them). Even if it's a strange concept for me, I liked that several possible protagonists died so early in the episode and liked the "gore" in his attacks.
I see that it's a famous series between fans, so it motivates me even more to watch all the episodes when they upload them.

Kamen Rider Amazon also has various manga adaptations, with one of them being made by Shotaro Ishinomori and his assistant Morihiko Ishikawa. Another one of these was made by Mitsuru Sugaya.

@@noahzasin1925 I always heard it was cut short from complaints of it being too violent but recently heard it was actually probably because of them wanting a clean slate when kamen rider changed what network it was airing on when himitsu sentai goranger took its spot on the network it was on

Never got into masked rider as a kid growing up in japan. But I loved the five rangers (the blue one was my favorite I love Kyu-Do) and ultraman. This came on Thursday nights at 7:30 brings back good memories.

Amazon is amazing showa rider that’s from the jungle and just like Tarzan
The difference is that Amazon’s technically a commoner from Japan raised in Peru by indigenous Amazonians (since infancy) after his parents died in a plane crash, meaning that he’s actually inspired more by Bomba the Jungle Boy. Whereas Tarzan is canonically a British aristocrat born in the African wilderness.

This was weird. This was paced weird. Characters were barely introduced before being killed off. Like, how could the Japanese Professor know the dying old man from the jungle had sent a 20-something orphan to "help"? Did they have phones???
And I love that after transforming, our hero picks up a kid who declares him "Amazon. Amazon Rider."
Rider of what exactly? I know he'll get a bike later but what made that kid call him that in this episode? lol.
It's simply because he happened to look like a Kamen Rider.

It seems that his adoptive home is likely next to Pucallpa in the southeasterly Ucayali province.
If Marcosatsu ever does a history of showa rider video this is definitely one I'd love to see him review and talk about just because of how silly wild and exciting it is

Amazon's feral fighting style for the first half of the series is amazing. He was just genuinely different from so many Riders before and after.
Those were some of the few fights that had me invested, something a majority of Showa Rider couldn't do for me.

That's actually a myth. The real reason it was so short was because they were switching to broadcasting on a different channel but still had a contract with the previous network and so they made a shorter series
The reboot Kamen Rider Amazons only has 24 episodes in its 2 seasons while Decade only has 28 ep including 1 movie for the finale

@@therussianwanderer4851 As far as i know Ikuro Suzuki was the head writer, writing most of the series. Shun Daimon have only written the first ones, including this very first episode, and it was a pseudonym for other writers colaborating.
