Oh yes while we're at it I think we should bring back conscription aka national service for these Young. They should do a compulsory 5 years spent in the following disciplines: Army. Navy. Royal Air Force. Police service. Fire service. Prison service. NHS. Lifeguard and Coast Guard.. Border Force. STEM. When I claimed my pension eleven years ago,I was told that people had to pay into the system for 45 years up to about that time then it was reduced to 30 years.That must cost billions.
My mum has just been diagnosed with degenerative bone disease in her thumb & wrist, so she can’t do the physical job she was doing and she’s not even 60. My dad has arthritis in his neck along with diabetes & lots of other problems so he can’t work as an electrician. I’ve got a bad back from lifting animals in a veterinary practice, lots of relatively young ppl I know have painful health problems which over time will get worse, so yes they can work now but come to being over 60 I can imagine they will really be suffering. Not everyone sits at a desk all day & many people aren’t capable of that kind of job either.
Stanley doesn't care that people who can not actually afford a pension have to give his son and crony mates a gold plated pension. Disgusting these people really think they are above everyone else.
The construction industry will struggle when our generation of 40 + retire , yes there are exceptions but the majority of kids coming into it are more interested in their phones and are generally lazy and not bothered in learning and to think these are the ones who have to teach the next kids
Here is my shillings worth,after working for 40 years in any job and looking forward to retire at 60,it should be optional and those who want to carry on,can be 3 days a week after 60 and 2 days a week after 65.It is an adjustment to retire at 60 and for some people who want to carry on,the adjustment will be phased.
If you want to keep the retirement age as it is then you have to do what the PM and Chancellor wont do. That is to Grow the economy and remove the red tape holding industry back.

It affects only the age at which the state pension can be claimed. The rate of the pension is the same, so long as NI contributions have been made for 30 years. the UK could also improve its private saving for retirement with suprannuation investment schemes, which would give people a lot more flexibility to decide for themselves when they retire.
