The story of Standard Bank’s partnership with Scatec ASA and H1 Holdings

The third episode in our #WeBelieveInHere series tells the story of how we powered up a successful partnership with Scatec ASA and H1 Holdings (Pty) Ltd, to support economic growth in a moonshot project - delivering clean and dispatchable renewable energy - a continental first.
The scale and impact of this project is immeasurable and has a lasting and tangible effect on the small community of Kenhardt, Northern Cape Province in South Africa, now home to the largest #solar and battery plant on the continent, approximately the size of over 1300 soccer fields. We are proud to be part of such a purposeful project as it demonstrates our commitment to #EnergyTransition and to lighting up the potential that is Africa.
At Standard Bank, we believe that #RenewableEnergy is playing a critical role in addressing the needs of power supply on the African continent. Since 2012, we have been involved in 12 projects with Scatec ASA, as lead developer under Renewable Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPP) and Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (RMIPPPP) in South Africa.
