It's adorable! Just shows how lovely things can be made with such simple stitches! I hope this inspires many people to give hand sewing a go, seeing what precious little things they can make, that look far more complicated than you would think for such easy stitching! It's inspired me to go and do some sewing of my own! I am a fairly good hand and machine sewer, so I personally didn't learn anything "new" in that sense... HOWEVER, that is what I loved about this little purse! I loved that it was easy to do, in the hope of spreading the joy of sewing to those who have avoided it thinking it was too difficult or not something they could do! So many younger females are not taught these "old-fashioned" skills any more, and I think it's so sad! I have sewn and crafted since I was little more than a toddler and it gave me so much joy and pride as a child! People think these types of skills are sexist, and limit women's potential in life to be so much "more" than just a housewife etc. How does DENYING yourself any set of skills *widen* your horizons exactly? It does the complete opposite! If you can sew you can always have clothes, nice home furnishings, and gifts for friends even with very little money! Learning to see the potential in reusing or repurposing will mean what money you do have can go onto more luxuries or holidays, seeing as you wouldn't need to buy those living room curtains or a gift for mother's day! I think all the old crafts of our ancestors are so important, helps motivation, boredom, focus, learning and self accomplishment! Whether it's sewing or pottery or wood turning etc etc, all of those trade skills are so valuable in life! Please see how easy these stitches were, yet how lovely the end result was! You can do this! I totally support self sufficient women and empowering them to be the woman they choose to be, but to avoid learning things because they are old fashioned or sexist is absurd! The more you know the wider your horizons become! I hope more little girls, AND boys, will be reintroduced to these types of skills so they can entertain themselves without the need for a tablet, playstation or TV! I'm gonna go raid my own fabric stash now and make something pretty! No better time to learn to sew whilst we're all in lockdown right now anyway!!! Stay home, stay safe, and stitch yourself or a loved one a little gift from the heart! 😘😘😘
