- Part 2 of a 3 part series. How to make a template to fit a Marmoleum. Templating a linoleum floor.
Marmoleum and linoleum are beautiful flooring products. They come in a fantastic array of colour and styles, they are very hard wearing and durable but they can be difficult to fit.
This is because marmoleum and lino are brittle until they are fixed to the floor and they can crack. It means if you have to fit them around an object then a template needs to be made and the marmoleum cut to the shape of the template and then fitted.
Here, our expert floor fitter Hughie shows us exactly how to make a template and cut the marmoleum to fit any shape.

Good video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Poor old Steve getting spoken to like a piece of dirt! Lol
Now you know why he doesn't have any other assistants :)
I installed an entire bathroom linoleum floor with vent , drain and stool pipe openings precut and in one piece. the process was simple. didn't even buy template paper! Used newspaper sheets lined up along the wall edges together as the lay with the openings cut out with a box cutter! Made sure it was well taped together and as an option, you can lay a strip of tape along the edges to make sure they dont tear, but not necessary if you're careful/ After taping the sheets and making sure the cutouts were done correctly, rolled it out, laid out the linoleum flat, taped the template onto it, cut it, rolled it back up, took it into the bathroom, perfect fit. No seams. After it was laid out. rolled half of it back up, put down the adhesive, roll it back out then repeated for the other half. Done. Held up for several years. No seams. no leaks. perfect fit!
Sounds great, I'm glad it went well for you.
Nice work. I saw other guys using a scribe tool to mark the edges of marmoleum. Wouldn’t that be easier?
It is easier. You use a pair of dividers with a pencil or pen .
Perfect work
Thank-you very much!
Use dividers. Much easier and faster. I’ve done whole hospitals and schools of Forbo marmolium . The really difficult thing is doing flash cove marmolium. We call this pattern scribing in the states
Thanks for the tip
What are dividers please?
@@solb101 it’s like a compass. But it holds a pencil or pen on one side, and a metal point on the other
Poor Steve lol
great video
Thanks!
At the corner you just cut down at an angle from inside the turn so you’re then dealing with two ears of material rather than trying to fold it around the corner
Never free hand lino at all
I'm not sure which is worse - The screeding or his socks. On balance, it's probably his diet. Also, if he had run it the other way , surely, he would have had shorter seams and less waste ? And no seam confronting you, as you walked in the kitchen. On a more obvious note, wtf has he cut to the kick boards instead of going under them ? # kn#b Check out his video of him fitting carpet on winding stairs.... I've been doing it 35 years and am by no means fussy but WOW !
Great channel you have there Marvin. A lot of followers. You must be great. I hope your attention to detail is better on your work than it is for watching videos. - but I doubt it. It is stated in the video the kickboards couldn't be removed as they had been stuck to the floor and the client wanted to keep them.
@@fenstoncarter Not everyone wants to be on RUclips or needs "followers " tubs.
wow. bell end
@@gordongreig5912 Yes, it is rather impressive....
@@marvinedwards3130 wow, a total bell end. This guy does a decent job and is providing content, wich you watched! the minute anyone says "I've been doing it 35 years" Fud, I have been doing it 36 years and this is pretty good.
I have been following you for a few days and find your videos very good, please make better videos
I will try my best
You are rude to your helper and spend a ridiculous amount of time laying a single sheet. I bet you couldn't leave that kitchen for another 5 days.
Got be templated in no matter wat
Absolutely!
Sir I want to contact you how can I?
just send us an email if you like info@fenstoncarter.co.uk or send a whatsapp to 00447723467119
Scribing would have been far easier and joining in the recess is normal practice, ask the training boys at forbo nairn Kirkcaldy
Pray. Tell me your only having a giggle.
If i was Steve id of told you to do it yourself in not such a polite way , you seem very abrubt and stressed.
prawdziwy fachowiec tnie od ręki i nie bawi sie w szablony.. chyba że ma płacone na godziny.. lol
You know nothing of installing sheet material. Butthead
