    For those saying that this doesn't make sense: Once you live it, it does. I'm currently in the same situation with someone. He's always saying how in love with me he is, but I catch him in lie after lie, and then he turns it around to make it my fault. He's extremely abusive. But every single time he says "I love you" I just melt. It's awful. I'm trying to find the strength to get out now. Thank you, One Love Foundation, for these videos.

    People are complaining about a lack of context?? It's quite obvious it's about the context of when 'I love you' is used by an abusive person and when to identify you're in such a relationship. It is actually explained in the 'asterisk' point as well.
    Does it honestly need to be spelled out for you?

    When we say it, we should make sure that we truly mean it. No what ifs, just as is.

    They probably should of added "If I say this to...." beforehand in the video because I'm sure people will get confused (to put it nicely)

    Statistics of this do not exist on paper. So in this case, lets call this a hunch. This campaign needs resolvable perpetuated thought in order to rephrase others into thinking withing unison, scramble for answers, all trying to come back to the same phrase over again. With this in mind, this single organization is useless for people who have no resolve in there life. In that case, your left with a mountain full of promises and candles on the street, trying to warm up the right spots with dialogue dilemmas (people who scream from the diaphragm and heart... for their narcissistic comparison on TV, books, and religious folks) for people to understand one another this will never end with good appraise from people who do know recourse's to direction without physiognomy or articular wants. That's if you can polarize these prefect-ed thoughts better than the optimistic minds.

    Telling someone "I love you" means you're manipulative? WTF? I wonder what "Good Morning" means.

    • @cerealforlunch
      @cerealforlunch 8 лет назад +6

      It's saying if someone is telling you they love you and at the same time insulting you calling you words such as "pathetic", then they're probably manipulating you

      +Keara Dana But that's not what this ad actually shows.

    • @croixrennie892
      @croixrennie892 8 лет назад +1

      Keara Dana This ad doesn't convey that at all. It literally just redefined what "I love you" means. If your significant other is having a bad day and they tell you your "oatmeal raisin cookies taste like shit"...if they apologize later on, does that mean they're abusive and manipulative? An abusive relationship isn't cut and dry, and a great relationship isn't perfect...and this ad severely misses the mark when it comes to portraying the nuance of both of those.

      Hi Croix Rennie, it's not the phrase "I Love You" that is bad. It is when this phrase is used to manipulate someone or as an excuse for abusive behavior that is the issue.

      JoinOneLove Hello, JoinOneLove...I understand what your overall message is, I'm just saying the sum of your parts are less than your whole. This video starts off with a guy saying "I Love You"...and then the narration with no context or background information starts rattling off a laundry list of reasons as to why someone might say "I love you".
      Your video doesn't convey "hey abused person, your significant other will try to manipulate you by saying "I love you"...don't believe them." Your video is actually saying "hey unsuspecting person who may or may not be in an abusive relationship, whenever your significant other says "I love you" they're trying to manipulate you no matter what...don't believe them".
      Don't get me wrong, you guys are doing great stuff...and this video got me curious to watch your other videos. So although this video doesn't make sense on it own, I must say after seeing your other videos...I got a better context to understand this video. Thanks for reaching out and thank you for bringing awareness to this.

    What the fuck. Zero context necessary I guess

    • @JoinOneLove

      Hi Pegasi - The message in this video is that phrases like "I love you" or "I'm sorry" or "I didn't mean it" are often times used as a way to manipulate someone in an emotionally abusive relationship.

    • @CHURCHISAWESUM
      @CHURCHISAWESUM 8 лет назад

      JoinOneLove Believe me, few would understand this better than me, because I saw it growing up constantly. But that's not enough. Someone saying "I love you" or "I'm sorry" by itself is innocuous. It's the context that establishes whether what you are talking about is happening or not. And that context is lacking here..
      I'm sure your organization does a lot of good, which is why I want it to be taken seriously, but these ads are oversimplifying what is a very complex issue and I think that this video is going to be mocked, because it is abrasive with very little context.

    • @JoinOneLove
      @JoinOneLove  8 лет назад +2

      +Pegasi Totally hear you and agree! It is an oversimplification of a very complex issue. We're trying to create content in multiple formats that people can relate to and I think what you're telling me is this one doesn't quite do it for you... totally ok! If you want more meat and lead up, I'd recommend checking out our Because I Love You video. We'll also be releasing a video later next month that is longer format that I think you'll appreciate.

    "If a black man says 'I love you', seek help immediately."
    #StormfrontOrSJW?
    Guys. I get what you are trying to do here, as someone who grew up in an abusive house and watched my mom put up with it. But you literally put no qualifiers on this. There's no context. It's just a black guy saying "I love you". I think this is laced with paranoia and is going to send people the wrong message.

    • @dr.gumbyr.cheesephd6686
      @dr.gumbyr.cheesephd6686 8 лет назад +2

      +Pegasi For real. They have noble goals but these ads give zero context and just serve to add confusion and paranoia to a complex and sensitive situation/topic. They are doing more harm than good as it is I think.
